Even though the place is very cheap and not fancy in any possible way, the atmosphere is at the highest. People seem to have more fun at McCluskys than in any massive London club. Either you love Mcluskys and visit on a regular basis, or you absolutely hate it and would never concider even thinking about it ever again after visiting. It makes for a good night out with friends, even in the middle of the week. I went one Tuesday night for a drink after work with colleagues, on our way out of the pub, we passed Reflex and it just seemed like fun so we went in for just one drink and ended up staying till the wee hours of the morning. There wasn't any trouble (on any of the nights I've been there), met lots of nice people, danced and partied and now go back on a regular basis. I've been to a few other 80's themed places as well and they're all usually fun, but I particularly enjoy Reflex more because I like the atmosphere.

It is a shame that it was closed a few years back and the site developed. I was lucky enough to see Art Brut finish a national tour in Croydon at the Cartoon just before it shut down. There was about 120 people in the venue that night and the following month they played to over 1,000 in central London. I only have good memories of this metallers venue. RIP The Cartoon.
