She beat cancer once and 12 years later it came back! While disappointing and horrible, there are bright spots to losing ones hair....that's where Amber and Hair Styles Unlimited come in! On Sunday evening, I researched wig consultants in Metairie/New Orleans. One, in particular, stood out...HSU!!! One look and read through their website and you instantly feel like they're the place for you! (Please take a look!) I called on Monday and Amber answered....Yayy for Amber. She's got amazing southern charm, very informative and had an appointment for my mom the next day. My mom, my daughter and I arrived for her appt and felt comfy from the moment we walked in. HSU, in mindfulness of covid, took our temps, had us sign in, ensured all were masked up, and even freshly sanitized pens for us to use. Amber walked the salon with us, walked us through the process and helped us pick out wigs that may be just right for my mom. She was patient, kind, supportive and never rushed us. She assured us that what they didn't have, they could get for us and that we could make adjustments to wigs including color, lengths, bangs, etc. I'd say my mom tried on about 10 wigs or so and felt very comfy the entire time. (This was huge for such a humbling moment in life!) We learned about the different types of wigs, different types of wig hair, wig prices, how to wrap the existing hair, how to take care of the wig, how to put on securely and comfortably, and how long to keep. We fell in love with 2 and had the full support of Amber who was honest and, again, informative and compassionate and just all around helpful!!!! Amber, our gem, and HSU have helped my mom and our family to breathe easier and to give my mom a boost in confidence, comfort and beauty which she so unbelievably deserves!!!! I cannot share what a great experience we had with Amber and HSU, and we are excited to have found a new resource for my mom. Thank you SO MUCH Amber and PLEASE keep positively changing the lives of those with hair loss due to cancer and other health reasons! You and the biz ROCK!

I don't know many people that wanted the drastic change I did (dark dyed hair to blonde). Well, Krystal made magic happen!!! It may have taken a long time but she did what other stylists could not do or would not do... what I wanted!! I'm so happy that I'm actually happy to go out again. My previous colorings by other people was called a work in progress" so I had felt I had to live with 4 inches of dark hair by my roots and blonde ends until the "process" was done. But.... I told him what I wanted and he immediately went and pulled out the wig I bought! Perfect color and style. Genius! That is product knowledge and great listen skills. He exceeded my expectations! I did try on a few other colors because I wanted to see what darker colors would look like. The owner was very accommodating and was more than happy to show me different colors. Her warm and friendly smiles made me feel comfortable. There was no pressure to buy and she didn't try pushing the uber expensive wigs. As I shopped a table of wigs a sales lady came back to the table to inform me that I was only allowed to try on 3 wigs. When I questioned this policy at the register I was told they didn't have enough staff to help me with trying on more than 3 wigs (no one was helping me try on anything to begin with, the wigs were on a table within my reach). Given that this wig experience is all new to me, I really wanted to try on more than 3. I was likely going to buy more than 3! I was crushed. It took a lot for me to go up there and shop at all given my circumstances, but to be rudely turned away and treated like I was merely there to "play" with the wigs was offensive at best. I will never step foot in this store again and I hope the ladies who were turning me away today never have to experience the struggle of breast cancer.

Pros: -Every hair product you can think of. -Inexpensive shoes -Clothing -Accessories - Fairly reasonable pricing - convenient location Cons: - Practices ((1)overcharged for an item more than once, (2) add'l charge if item less than $5 and using a card) - Service - Store is cramped. Items on the floor at the register and everywhere in between. When I pointed out I was overcharged by .50 on today's visit. A gentleman who was stocking approached and said it was an accident. I said it was okay. There was a line of 2-3 people behind me, so he instructed me to step to the side so he could take care of them first before addressing my concern. When I pushed back, he begrudgingly handled it. What happened next was in poor taste and dishonest. He said "I'm giving you an extra five cents for the mistake". I didn't respond but when I counted, it was $.55 which was the amount owed because a 10% sales tax was applied. However, he accomplished his goal - sarcasm and to suggest he did something for me after I informed them I was overcharged. It is experiences like these that leave me wondering if others are mistakenly charged in small increments who might not catch it. It's a cautionary tale to always review your receipt before you leave the store.

First day and during flat iron prices hair was shedding heavily. Two days after install the 12 inch hair was 9-10 inches and even with daily wrapping hair tangled and knotted into a constant stiff mess! Disappointing Customer Service Experience…read more I went to the store to buy tights and jazz shoes for my daughter. When I walked in, I told the sales associate I was there to purchase both. She showed me the available shoe options. I mentioned I was looking for flesh-toned shoes and wasn't sure the colors they had would work. I then picked out a pair of tights and, after that, went back to the shoes and asked to try some on my daughter. The associate then asked if I was "just trying on or purchasing." Stunned, I replied, "trying on to see if I want to purchase." She then said there would be a $15 try-on fee for the jazz shoes, which would go toward the purchase if I decided to buy. I asked for clarification: "So, if I try the shoes on and don't like them, I have to pay $15?" She said she might not be explaining it correctly and called over the manager or owner. Instead of clarifying the policy like the associate asked her to, the owner repeatedly said she was "confused" about whether I was buying or trying on, referring back to my earlier comment about wanting a flesh tone. I explained that I wanted to try them on my daughter to decide if the available color worked, but she continued to say she was confused, without ever attempting to explain the try-on policy or addressing my question. At that point, I said, "Never mind, we're in the wrong place," and left with my children. I went there to make a purchase, as i have many times over the years, but the tone and attitude made me feel unwelcome and completely uncomfortable. We ended up purchasing the shoes and tights online for less money, but I went to this store specifically hoping to support a small business. Unfortunately, this experience made that impossible and I won't be returning. Lastly, if a try-on fee is the store's policy, it should be communicated clearly and professionally, especially when a customer has already expressed intent to buy.
