Great Students and Teachers. Very rarely disappointed! I have gotten color retouches, silk presses, cuts and more.

Where do I begin. Was greeted by receptionist very rude. When I inquired payment, very rudely replied we only accept cash. When I called inquired to speak with a supervisor regarding what kind of service I wanted, was told they weren't available. The stylist was very good & concerned w/ my highlights I wanted. Very sweet person. The supervisors when stylist asked about my hair "go ahead you know what to do, you don't need me", that's when I had to speak up & address my concerns. Then supervisor realized I was serious. I told Her about the way she responded & they apologized. All teachers do is walk around & don't check on students to see if everything is okay w/ client. There's yelling across the school "I'm taking breakfast order for Chic fil a, who has money to order today!" Supervisors look at you as if from another planet, rolling their eyes. I was sorry my stylist was graduating & they recommended someone else for my next visit, but after experiencing horrible atmosphere my last 3 visits, I've opted not to return. Sometime you want relaxing experience & the music is too loud where people have to talk loud. It's like this every time I visit this location. The supervisor's & manager is unprofessional. Sorry I have to drive further for service at another school that's not Empire & I love the services, students are very nice, very professional & staff always walking around making sure everyone is happy & satisfied. read more

I've been coming to this liston for over 2 years. Never have I had a bad experience. The teachers are friendly & awesome and I've always been paired with a capable stylist. Granted I don't any technical services but my silk presses have always been awesome with no heat damage. Whenever my regular hair stylist isn't available this will remain my go to backup. read more

Oh boy, where do I begin..... I'm a college student who is a brunette but loves being a blonde. Coming here I knew students would be working on my hair, However, from my understanding there's supposed to be an instructor on hand at all times. I came in for my patch test 24 hrs prior which went smoothly and I was very excited to get my hair done at an affordable rate. I should of known better. Mckenzie bleached my hair not knowing proper technique which is fine but why was t the instructor there to help her along the way or at least monitoring? After the bleach process was done I needed a toner. This girl generally did not have a clue as to what she was doing. She used a brown glaze on brassy bleached hair. BIG MISTAKE. I left in tears. If you don't know how to do something correctly DO NOT SAY YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! Went back the next day so someone else could fix it (she was an angel god bless her) but with little training it is hard to color correct. I just felt the instructors there was lazy, inattentive, and the one had no clue what she was doing. Thank you to ms.Dee for saving my hair the most you could however if someone had trained mckenzie properly or been attentive this mistake would not have happened. I pray for when she graduates that she'll get it together. My 38 hair color turned into 58 at empire and now 300 at a salon to color correct and at least help me feel better. if i could give this abomination of a school 0 stars i would. to even call this purgatory a school is a sin itself. i came into the salon excited to get my hair dyed, but stepping foot in this so called "school" is my greatest regret. i asked for ashy brown, natural highlights and they gave me bright orange instead. on the top left of the picture you will find the inspo pic that I SHOWED TO THE STYLIST. on the right is the incorrigible, bright, orange hair they gave me. the highlights i have received are not remotely close to the picture i provided for them. with every inch of my being, i beg you to stay as far away from this shitty excuse of a school as you can; it is undoubtably not worth your money or time. might i add, i was there from 9:30 A.M. to 3:45 P.M. just for them to give me worst hair color i have seen in my entire life. also, the hair stylist didn't care to hide her annoyance when i asked her to fix my hair, even though she was the one who ruined it in the first place!!! after the picture i took in my car, i went back and asked them to tone it down to make it look more natural. although it looks somewhat better now, my hair looks extremely ginger and not at all brown. on top of that, my hair is brittle and extremely frizzy. the hatred and anger i feel towards empire beauty school is insurmountable. i am starting school in less than 2 days and i have my sweet sixteen soon, so them ruining my hair makes me completely outraged. lastly i would like to say, if you don't know what you are doing don't do it. you people are ruining lives. p.s. i hate you guys and hope you go out of business (you definitely deserve it)!!! read more

I wish it could give zero stars. I should've listened to all the poor reviews. like many have mentioned the students ARE NOT supervised. you would assume they're all proficient enough to provide the service. I understand the salon clinic side of things: I am a licensed nail tech. I went in for a pedicure simply because I did not want to do it myself and Im new in the area. the nail shops near me didn't open as early as the school. Anyway; the young lady was complaining because she had to do my pedicure and " all she does is pedicures" she DID NOT even do a pedicure. she filed off my gel polish (cutting me several times may I add) and painted my toes. that is a polish change. I asked for a trim as I'm already there in the presence of cosmetologist. the young lady kept saying " cut" I told her trim, clip my dead ends. she cut at least three or four inches off of my hair. . . to put icing on the cake my Polish is completely off not even 24 hours later and the school refuses to fix the mistake. I wouldn't even send someone here to attend. please do better. read more

I come here often with my five year old to get our hair done. It's very affordable and they do a great job. I love the princess package they have for little girls. It comes with a crown, nail polish and makeup application. It's also fast which is great for me when I'm on the go. Jamilah Nolan does an amazing job every time. I had a horrible experience at this beauty school. I will never go to another empire again! I had previously visited the Cheltenham location, but decided not to return because of the rude students. I came in with a dark red to blonde ombré, and wanted the same thing again, just my roots touched up. I showed the girl a picture from Pinterest. She picked out the color because she's supposedly the "expert". My hair turned out noticeably purple. I went back and said I wanted DARK RED. Two girls did my hair for 6 hours, and the color specialist/instructor was helping them all the way. I kept showing them the same picture and they repeatedly said "you want dark red right?". I finally get to see my hair and it is a light orange/pink. I was horrified!!! It did not go with my skin tone, I looked like a clown! Maybe they were all color blind, or this was some sick joke because they had no clue why I had a problem with the color! I had to pay $125 at a REAL salon to fix their mistake! Empire is a cheap place for a wash, cut or blow dry but stay far away for color! They have no idea what they're doing! read more

A friend of mine told me about Empire Beauty School and how cheap their services were. So I gave it a try and I was very satisfied. I would suggest this to all the beautiful ladies out there who need a hair-do or just feel like doing something special for yourself. read more

I've been to this location several times. It's a great place to go for a wash blow and curl. I even took my little girl and she was done up for just $10 as well. What a great alternative to an expensive visit to a professional. I recommend them ~ highly! read more

I am writing not as a patron of Empire Beauty School but as a parent of a once enrolled student. This school is run by criminals. They have a slick way of convincing you they are invested in their students and setting them up to succeed. Their sales people are top notch. They care nothing about those they enroll and once they are able to find a way to get all of the money parents sign up to pay with the understanding their child will have a career and a license in cosmetology, they use any excuse to keep them from graduating. They talk a good game and at the end the student and their parents (who they say are obligated to take out a Parent Plus Loan) must pay for an education they don't deliver on and they block students from completing their program for whatever reasons they decide are appropriate. Please if you have someone you love interested in a career in Cosmetology send them anywhere but here. Do not let Empire make one more cent off another unsuspecting family. Wish I could give them zero stars they've earned it. read more

There are so many things I would like to say about this school, but I think I am not going to have enough time to describe, if I can find the exact word to describe a place like this one, first the students are the worse quality student I have seen ever, I have a previous Bachelor degree and I had the idea to take a time off of my job and do something else I like to and have an option to make some money if eventually get lay off from my work again, also was close home, not long commute, perfect, but one time you are every day in this school you won't want to be one more day there. Students are disrespectful, vulgar, dirty, they don't know even how to eat on the table, they get dirty everything around, they steal the products are been used in the school and other students material, they are loud like they are in there disgusting neighborhood, and if we talk about their instructors, is amazing to realized and I have been treated without any respect from an "instructor" is breathtaking. I will give you an example of one of many situation; I asked to one of the oldest instructor, one of the most respectable "lady", the one is state board proctor; a simple question with respect and she just answered me " I am not taking to you", I was completely in shock, I never, ever have received an answer so disrespectful even from a young co-worker or any of other student when I was student. This place is the most disgusting place I never, ever been in my whole life, is a shame that someone like me picked this school because was convenient an also suppose to be a "school" and this place is worse than a zoo. Honestly I don't recommend this place to nobody that come from any professional background or just from a simple educated and humble family, it doesn't take that much to be respectful and can differentiate between one person and other, unless the people that administrate and work there, because I can't call them professional, they are the first unprofessional that I have never seeing on my whole life. This school should be audit by the department of education more for their instructors that suppose to be the example, because is no hope with these quality of students. I don't know what Ann B. was talking about in her review, but in my experience with Empire in Springfield was always excellent! The educators were polite and always very helpful. As far as the students, i have never seen such a large happy group, they are always smiling and learning from their educators. I think the clients forget the it is a "SCHOOL", things do happen, its expected.. I mean come on lets be real here.. This is not a reflection against the students there at Springfield, because in my personal opinion the students do excellent work there, but having said that, if you are pressed for time or looking for someone "EXPERIENCED" then you have come to the wrong place... HELLO ITS A SCHOOL!! But anyway, i definitely recommend anyone to this school, just don't go acting crazy and demanding top notch service for cheap. Again it's a school!!
