I wouldn't recommend booking with this company if there's any chance you need to cancel. I scheduled with them and approx 5 hours later called to cancel because my son had already set up a drivers test appointment elsewhere. They were pushy and pretty insistent that I keep my appointment because of "high"PayPal fees. This rubbed me the wrong way because none of this is posted on their website. Was also told I needed a supervisor to discuss any refunds. She didn't call. When I called back the second day she was again very off putting and warned me of a heavy PayPal fees for getting refunded but didn't know how much the fees are. Now mind you, I didn't use PayPal at all I used my credit card but was told they use PayPal as a third party. (Cop out excuse) and also somewhat shady because any legitimate business would have their own business bank account which doesn't need a third party. I was charged a $35 refund fee. When I called PayPal to ask about this fee they said they had no record of this payment whatsoever and if they had, fees would be on the merchant and not the consumer. This feels like a company who no matter what will take a cut of any money they can get. I will be disputing the final $35 with my credit card company not because of the money but on principle for this shady deal. SIDENote: had a great experience with Defensive Driving Academy and was a fraction of the price that these scammers charge. UPDATED: the owner of this business did contact me and gave me a the rest of my refund. It was obvious she cared to make this right and assured me that she would be communicating with her staff regarding customer service. I appreciated that and have respect for her making good of this situation. She clearly understands good customer service and wasn't wasting any time to resolve this matter. read more

Driven2Scam more like it. Trooper location is run by an angry troll lady. My son had an appointment for his drivers test. We arrived 10 minutes early to be safe. Upon arrival troll lady told us that they don't accept copies of the learners permit, only official ones from PennDot. So our appointment was forfeited along with our money. So I went to the DMV in Norristown where I was told there is no official copy of the permit and therefore we had been lied to. This was confirmed with 3 more people before I left. I made a new appointment for my son with a different agency. They told me that they hear this all of the time about Driven2Scam. Buyer beware! read more

My first interaction with the customer service folks at the Horsham location was awesome, but I called the Bala Cynwyd location to reschedule a permit test prep session due to needing to attend an urgent doctor's appointment, and was informed of a fee AFTER the customer service person initiated the rescheduling. I had never been informed of rescheduling fees for the permit prep sessions in particular, and while I understand the reason that some businesses collect these, it's extremely frustrating to ask how much the fee is and be told, "I don't know, I think it's $25?" I didn't exactly feel confident. I'm instead trying to rearrange the doctor's appointment because at least the doctor's office is more transparent and knowledgeable about the fee structure. In addition, the rep was also incredibly rude when I told her I would have to rearrange other things instead and would call back to confirm. When you're already paying a premium for permit test prep and driving lessons, this sort of customer service is unacceptable. It really makes me dread and regret the driving lessons that I have already paid for. read more

One star only because the instructor was great - nothing that happened was her fault - in fact her safety was at risk just as much as the student driver, my child. Today was the first of 3 lessons I had scheduled with Drive2Drive - and within 10 minutes of the lesson starting I received a call from my child stating the car they were driving was smoking! They had safely pulled into a gas station and exited the vehicle. The instructor attempted to follow procedures that are given in emergency situations like this and was UNABLE TO REACH anyone because, although their business is busiest on Saturdays (they're teaching kids to drive who are otherwise in school during the week!!), they are unavailable for religious reasons! Another procedure needs to be in place!!! It goes without saying I ended up picking up my child (and the instructor who otherwise would have had to Uber back to the office because she could not get in touch with anyone from the company and no one else was available to get her - they were busy giving lessons) - lesson cancelled for today and I am requesting a full refund. If I could give 0 stars I would. I took my son who has an anxiety issue to the NE Phila Driven 2 drive site for the express reason that they are supposed to be less stressful for the driving exam. He was to have Val as his instructor in a Mini Cooper. Instead Val, in error, took a different customer and we waited for 45 minutes for Bill in a Tesla. unbeknownst to me the Tesla was totally different from a regular car. He tried to tell Bill that he was uncomfortable using the Tesla but Bill coerced him into using it, using words like "it's easy, you'll be fine". After his 85 minutes "refresher course" which is advertised as 2 hours ended, my son was given Val to attempt his drivers test in the Tesla that doesn't even have a brake Pedal. Needless to say, he failed on the parking. Per Val, "the one tire was on the line". I paid $255 for a refresher course so my son with a diagnosed anxiety disorder could pass his test with less stress and instead he was given a Tesla to take his test in. The driven 2 drive site has mini coopers throughout all of their advertising, it's almost like a bad joke that this happened to us. They were totally uncaring and should have allowed him to test in the mini cooper as advertised. Friends of mine could not believe that he was tested in a Tesla. They said that Tesla's are totally different to drive and in order to brake, you take your foot off of the gas. Can you imagine testing in this car for parallel parking. How unfair. Im an adult learning how to drive without any experience. By the end of the first lesson I was already feeling comfortable behind the wheel.I took three 2 hour lessons at the Bala Cynwyd location, I took a refresher and test but failed the first time. I tested again a few days later and passed. The exam took maybe 15 minutes and was low stress. I'd recommend the refresher and test package if you're nervous. This location a great area to learn for new drivers. Not a lot of crazy traffic but enough to give you realistic experience. Plus it's near regional rail so if you're coming in from the city it's convenient. The instructors/evaluators were fantastic, they're very patient and make you feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. D2D is great for adults learning how to drive, I never had trouble scheduling an lesson. read more

The driving instructors are phenomenal and provide great advice and driving technique. But unfortunately my experience with testing with them overshadows my positive outlook regarding this company. This review is intended to be completely transparent for people as it is very expensive to go with a third party company such as driven2drive. Knowingly I chose this option for convenience cause I lack a car and the dmv usually takes a month out to schedule a license test, especially for those that work regular jobs. During both times I tested, my examiner was on his phone texting. I thought nothing of it figured he's just trying to test me and see if I would be distracted or bothered. Although I failed the first time cause he claimed I was going over the speed limit, It wasn't clear to me how the examiner noticed my speedometer when he was busy texting. The second time I tested, while I was inching onto a busy high traffic road loud obnoxious music had come on blasting in the car. I imagine the examiner forgot it was hooked to his phone while he was busy texting. Sure it was for a few seconds but was that necessary? I am paying extra money for a service and these little annoyances are not there to test my driving ability neither provide a comfortable testing environment. Other things to note: I was not given the same car for both of my tests. This did not bother me at the beginning but the shifter was completely different as it took some time to get use to using buttons on a shifter. I had the same examiner twice even though there were multiple other examiners available. Your examiner cannot be the same person as your instructor. This is for the balacynwd location, surrounding main roads are very high trafficked and cars do not abide to the speed limit. Cars are easily going 50 in a 30. This can be difficult and unsafe if you're trying to stay within the speed limit for the test and not keep up with the pace of the road while changing lanes. Unfortunately due to the high costs and unnecessary annoyances I will not contribute more money into this scheme. I rather wait it out and test with the dmv. Update- still wouldn't test here. Tips: if you're needing a closer test date with the dmv just keep refreshing the page online, was able to find one the next day. Passed my test with the dmv, the instructor was professional and provided clear instructions and was able to get my license in 30mins and it didn't cost me $75 read more

I got my permit awhile ago, but have been putting off learning to drive and taking the road test because of low confidence. I actually took a lesson from another driving school and didn't have a good experience. What I liked about Driven2Drive was their wide variety of package deals, which can be easily found on their website. They've also posted a helpful video of the main car controls, which allowed me to familiarize myself with the car prior to the lesson. In addition to booking a 2 hr lesson, I picked the package with a road test, to be taken following the lesson or at a later date. It was easy to schedule this all by phone. Edward was a great instructor and he assured me that I was ready to test the same day. I definitely recommend their service! Driving the MINI Cooper was fun and an added bonus. They have a few locations in/near Philly so if one location is booked up you have other options with them. The teachers were great! I had a few and I don't remember their names but they were all fantastic. Patient, knowledgeable and gave honest feedback and tips. I went to take my refresher test and then took my driver test. my 1st instructor was great felt very comfortable with him after my anxiety calmed down but when i went to take the test i felt tense with the switched instructor his energy was off to me and i was expressing the wheel wasnt turning and he said "looks like its turning to me " even the guy outside watching saw it was hard to turn and to find out i was right the steering fluid overheated so we had to switch cars i knew he was going to fell me by his energy but its okay better luck and energy next time! read more

This was a complete waste of money. 30 second introductory to the car u will be driving unless you want to pay extra to understand the car. The guy running the test was professional but, he told me I was a great driver for everyday driving but not to pass the test. He failed me on ridiculous technicalities so I would have to come back and pay more money to do it again. They test you in areas where all traffic is doing more than the speed limit and for you to drive safely you must do the same. Meanwhile you can't even see the speedometer. (It's located in the center console where the radio should be), rather than on your dash. but they insist u know where their defrost is? Don't mess with the radio while your driving but pay attention to something essential in the same location? You have to lean to the passenger side to see the speedometer. Then they fail you for speeding. Pretty sure that's all on purpose. Another 75 bucks!!! Don't waste your money if you already know how to drive. Just make an appointment at the DMV. You will wind up paying at least 150 outta pocket at this place if you want your license. It may possibly be a nice driving school for children but it's not a good place to just take the test. read more

Let me start with this, Sophie is awsomeeeee!!!! I had their DAY OF THE TEST package which was really helpful if you are not familiar with Mini Cooper. They let you practice before the actual test and let you know what can be improved. DO PICK THE PACKAGE if you haven't taken classes with them or not familiar with their cars. Very helpful indeed!! I went to PennDot and the instructor was cold and mean. When he got into my car, it was like I was being judged before I even started the test. My instructor, John, at Driven2Drive was amazing!!! He treated me with respect and kindness as a student. I opted for the practice session before my test, which was a great choice, especially if you have never driven a Mini Cooper before. The Mini Cooper doesn't have a backup camera but it doesn't have a big trunk either, which makes it super easy to parallel park. I have finally gotten my license with the help of 4 of the driving services in the Philadelphia region. Hooray! Based on my experience, I'd rank Driven2Drive 2nd best, on the basis of one service: Their driving exams. As far as I know, they offer the lowest-cost driving exams at $75. Scheduling and payment are super easy--just give them a call--and they will likely have dates within a week or two (including weekends!) and you can pay online. Their driving lessons are on-par with other companies', with the added joy of driving a mini cooper. However, they are 2x more expensive than the competitor. Learning how to parallel park the mini cooper might be worth the cost though? That's up to you. The biggest negatives are scheduling and refunds. I almost always received calls asking if I could reschedule or arrive at a time different than what I had booked. I'd get these calls the night before or even the day of. Sometimes the calendar invites had errors. It was all very confusing and frankly a bit unprofessional. The staff are pretty nice though and reasonable about rescheduling. They just seem to live very flexibly, which may or may not stress you out. read more

I have to say the instructors are good, but the actual testing process is way strict and everything additional costs so much money. I've spent close to $400 on this facility and haven't passed my test. They don't take weekend tests normally and it causes people who work all day an inconvenience of either leaving work early or coming into work late. My daughter had 60 hours of driving time under the belt, but had trouble parallel parking. My daughter decided to go with D2D instead of PennDot. Terrible experience. Online ad stated students receive a 2 hour lesson. On the phone she was told that she could focus on parallel parking, and that getting it down would "be a cinch". Her instruction time was 45 minutes. She parallel parked three times during the lesson. Then came the test. She failed the driving test for parallel parking.
