Whenever I come visit home, I always try to sneak in and get my hair done here. At one point it was walk-in welcome, then it became by appointment, so I stopped by to see if I could get seen. I was surprised as they said they could take me now however I had a few things in the car that needed to go to the house so I was told to come back at 5:30 and they would take care of me. I came back at 5:30 and it's like the whole vibe was different. Now I'm very aware that these are students, however they are learning to become professionals and therefore you expect professionalism at its best. Sadly, that's not what I got. The students talking amongst themselves with topics that are inappropriate, cussing at each other, eating and drinking at stations . . . However the one that almost had me get up and leave was a roller hit the floor and another student picked it up and acted like she was going to roll my hair with that roller. I had too much product used in my hair - which we discussed prior to starting about - and it would have been nice to be given a towel to put on the back of my neck as the dryer setting was set high in attempts to dry my hair. My hair wasn't completely dry when I left so ultimately the curls didn't hold, but morning you couldn't even tell I had my hair done. Also, if they are talking about other clients in front of me, I know they are talking about me in front of other clients, but once again, this goes back to professionalism or in this case lack of. read more

Very nice professional beauty school that does good work from my experiences. There prices are reasonable as well. This visit I planned to get a wash, blow dry, and flat iron. In the past I just get a wash and blow dry to prepare my hair for braids. I was assigned to student Antionete. She warmly greeted me then off to her station we went. She confirmed the services I was getting then completed a standard hair evaluation with one of the teachers. The teacher brought to my attention that my strands were a bit dry and could use a moisture treatment. I appreciated this since I've had my hair in braids for awhile although I condition well when I take them down. While Antionete washed my hair she regularly checked the water temperature and her scrub was comfortable for me. I enjoyed the thorough wash and condition. She also didn't rush to complete my flat iron. My all natural curly hair was nicely straight and light weight. I was quite pleased with her work and will definitely return. Hopefully, I'll get her again next time. However, I observed the other students doing a good job on their customers as well. Also that I was in need of a trim. I appreciated them bringing both to my attention. Normally I only let my hair dresser trim but I felt comfortable with Antionette and with the teacher being there as well. She did a great job on my trim. Big before and after difference. She also did a beautiful job on my silk press. My hair was so nice and light afterwards. I highly recommend Empire Beauty School for your basic hair needs. read more

It's 9AM December 31, 2025. Yesterday Tuesday 5:30pm, December 30, 2025 I went to Empire Beauty School in Morrow for a pedicure and facial waxing. Before I give the negatives First let me say Madison at the front desk and the student who provided my service were absolutely kind, professional and accommodating (did not get my serving student's name)! Now the Negatives: I realize this is a school and a customer must wait until a student is available to service U BUT after waiting from 5:30pm until 7:50pm to be serviced I go to the back for my pedicure. The water is lukewarm-again!! This has been for me a 2 year trial and error thing with this Empire having warm/hot water in the pedicure chair!!! Add to this sometimes only 1 of the 2 pedicure chairs is operational!! As I sit it's time to choose my polish. NO bright red color I like is available. So I choose a black gel polish. The student needed a plug in to dry my gel polish. None in the pedicure area but for the pedicure chairs. So, The daytime instructor told the student to take me upfront where the plugs were to dry the polish. The evening instructor later told her "you can't put gel polish on toes"!! Both the student and me R now confused???? I had my own Bright Red Polish with me that I had purchased from my dermatologist. The evening instructor stated "U can't bring your own polish for us to apply"!!?? I stated "U don't have bright red polish. I choose a black gel polish and it can't be applied on my toes"!! Really?? The evening instructor begins to tell me about the rules and state regulations. I tell her " Really-rules and regulations. R U kidding me. My feet is in cold now that was lukewarm water for my pedicure. I've been here for a pedicure where Empire had no pedicure slippers for walking out and I had to walk out barefooted to keep from smearing my pedicure. Additionally, the extremely small pedicure area is junky and filled with boxes and supplies-a safety issue. I've requested facial waxing where the school had no strips and the student had to borrow strips from students. The waxing machine did not work and another had to be found thus causing me an additional 20 minutes to wait for that machine wax to get hot. And let's talk about the chair a customer must sit in where U R uncomfortable and get cricks in your neck from having to try to lie back in a chair that does not recline for a comfortable facial waxing!! To summarize I walked out at 9:15pm with no polish on my toes, a crick in my neck from lack of a reclining chair from my facial waxing. Add to that an instructor who should not be instructing a dead dog because of her lack of properly instructing students on the proper and into the future successful way to run a salon!! Limited pedicure products, a less than desirable professional salon training experience and lack of accommodating a customer's needs. It was 2 days before New Years, 4 days after Christmas. What salon or salon training school that offers pedicures does not have a few bottles of BRIGHT RED regular nail polish?? My dermatologist purchased nail polish has no formaldehyde. Empire's OPI polish does have formaldehyde that we all have read is very unhealthy and unsafe. When an instructor begins to tell customers about rules, regulations and what products are allowed in the school they had better start adding to their curriculum the teaching of products that are unhealthy and unsafe. They teach students they can't trim cuticles, can't reuse certain tools without sanitizing. We learned the hard way that perms are suspect to cause cancer. Guess it'll be the same for nail polish?!?! I will be contacting corporate about my experiences at this Empire. The best experience is the kind students I've encountered the approximate 4 Years I've visited Empire Morrow. Last, students pay approximately $15,000 for about 12-18 months of schooling to attend Empire. Why can't the owner and directors put some of that money to have products and proper equipment to service customers who R needed for the students to complete their training?? Just saying. I have went 3 times to try to get my hair colored, first they did notnhave developer, then I was told I did not have a patch test done which was never told. Then I had the patch test done and appointment set. I came back for my appointment and was told that the hair color treatment is locked in a supply room and the director was not there to open it. I told off a half of day from work and I live 20 mins away, my time cannot be give back. This is so unprofessional and very sad. read more

I have been coming there for about 4-6 years now. I've always done walk in before. But now you have to make an apt, that's fine. But for last few weeks I've been having an issue yet agian. I call at 9:00 before I go to work on Monday, abs everything is booked up. I then get told I can do a walk on foe my dye job. Well I walk in and find out I can't do it. Okay.. make up ur mind. - March 2nd : I'm then told I have to be where before 12 for a walk in. I come ar 11:30 and then told I have to wait till 1:15. At11:30 There are 6 women ( including my self ) waiting to get there hair done. Every women who spoke to the women in pink all said the same thing. They where all told to be where before 12. She says it's going to be after 1:15. MAKE UP YOU'RE MIND. I understand the students have lunch and stuff but DONT TELL PEOPLE TO Be HERE AT 12! And I still can't get my hair dyed read more

I made an appointment for a wash, blow out, and trim. I arrived at 9AM and my appointment was at 9:30 which I called and confirmed when I arrived. I should gave known when others started to arrive that my "appointment" time was only a slot not a time they would be committed to. People gathered at the door and rushed in. 15 minutes after my "appointment" time I was told it could be a hour wait. 30 minutes later I was told it could be up to two hours. This is not on the website and if I had all day to wait I would not have scheduled a appointment. This location is nothing like the Paul Mitchell school. A hour and half later and I am still waiting and HIGHLY disappointed. This is certainly something the students should NOT be taught. By the way the young lady at the front desk had on a black satin hair bonnet, another red flag this was not a professional environment. Please do better. finally left at 11:30. No one came out the entire time to communicate what was happening. Highly disappointed. read more

I have natural thick hair. I called in advance for an appointment at 9:15 am. I arrived on time and waited until 10:30 to be seated. I informed my stylist that I wanted my hair straightened and curled. My stylist was sweet she did well on the wash,condition,blow-dry part of the style. Unfortunately she forgot the smoothing serum. I could tell she was getting nervous. She received assistance from 2 professors and one finally realized why my hair was not straight. After getting my hair trimmed and realizing the hair straighter cut off and reapplying serum my hair was nearly finished. I left around 4 pm and even witnessed a graduation. While I was getting my hair done one of the cosmetologist past by and said Jesus Christ. They just need a little more professionalism and more practice on 4c hair. read more

This is the worse empire I have ever been to. I've been here twice in the last two months and they have turned me away , saying "we're done taking clients for the day. It's 1pm and there door sign says 9:30-4:30" how are you done taking clients 3hrs early? They don't apologize for the inconvenience either. I used to always have my hair done at the beauty school and had a great experience with all of the students. The only reason I stopped coming to the beauty school is due to the lack of availability for appointments. The way the beauty school used to operate, an appointment was required to be serviced during the weekdays and on Saturday, it was strictly walk-ins only; however, you could come once the school opened up to the public. I'm not sure when things changed but needless to say, I have not been back to the beauty school in over five years. I recently called to schedule an appointment for a wash and set and was informed by the receptionist that they were already booked out for the week and were no longer taking clients for walk-ins on Saturdays. Hopefully, a more efficient system to schedule an appointment is implemented because I would love to come back. read more

No complaints. I used them off and on over 2 years. I tried most of their services. I had mostly a color, cut, trim, and press. I loved my facial. I had a pedicure too. The instructors are very professional. They always walk the floor. They are willing to jump in to help students. I love Ms Kesha at front desk. She is always there and friendly. The prices are cheap for most services. The places is clean and organized. I will highly recommend. Please keep in mind these are students and mostly young. I go as a walk-in every chance I get. This place is the fucking worse!!! first off. The girl washes my hair with super cold water! It was terrible. Then I show the girl the cut I want. She was uncertain . So she kept advising me to keep it long. I told her I wanted it cut. Then she gets the teacher that supposed to be the professional. I show her the picture again. She looks at it for a second and says ok. Then she starts chopping off my hair. Making it look Nothing like the picture. The cut I requested was a long pixie cut. The cut I got was right at my ears . Hair was so uneven. I mean just fucking hidious!!!! Then they want to charge me out the ass. This school needs to shutdown!!! I've never in my life dealt with such ignorant people!!! The stupid lady took the scissors and starting cutting my hair ! Like she knew what she was doing. I'd I can post the picture I wanted with the cut I walked out with you would agree with me . I went to Empire Beauty School in Morrow on a Saturday as a walk-in, I understand that they do not take walk-ins on Saturday but I called early in the morning and spoke with someone and they told me someone would be able to do my hair. I get to Empire in Morrow in a timely manner and I walk-in, the customer service was terrible, the students had very bad attitudes and they were acting like they didn't want to help. I stood there for 20 minutes and waited for a manager to come out and when she came out, she said there was nothing she can do about my service. Been coming to this location Approximately 4 years now. They started my sons locs and have done retwis's on my husband and our sons as well as color and silk press services for my daughter and I. I'm very aware of how they operate and certain expectactions that come with it since it is ultimately a learning facility, however, our last experience was horrible! We scheduled loc maintenance for my husband and 3 of our sons. With the exception of my youngest son who they actually did a good job on the rest of them walked out the way they came in. They maybe washed their hair and separated/parted strands but there was NO retwist nor loc maintenance done on their hair. Now I understand they are students but this was the furthest thing from a retwist I've ever seen. It's like asking for box braids and leaving with a silk press this just wasn't it at all, paid $140 total which would be fine if they got it even half way right but they didn't. the worst part isn't the " mistake" it's when I attempted to reach out to speak to someone about it(not asking for a refund) and no one returned my call the first, second or third time after calling and leaving my contact information for someone to reach out to me about our experience. I called for the 4th time and it's been about two weeks just to see what was going on and why I had not heard from anyone and I was met with the rudest individual on the other side of the phone, she sounded like the same individual who had taken my information twice before and when I asked her to take my information down she refused to do so and stated " I've worked here for so long I don't wanna be responsible and for someone to say I wrote something down and forgot to pass that info along" I never asked for her name, never made it about her but that was a red flag for me because it makes me believe maybe she has withheld passing the info along intentionally and she remembers me and is now a little afraid that she may be in trouble because she possibly forgot to pass that info along. I'm not interested in getting anyone in trouble but I am interested in respect and receiving a proper response, I feel like feedback should be welcomed as they are learning and this would be a teachable moment. I didn't ask for much and the way I've been treated I will never return for any services. They are rude, and don't seem to care about the people they are servicing. Do yourself a favor and avoid this school and just pay the extra money to make sure it's done RIGHT! She basically told me it's a school and they aren't going to so anything so " what is that you want us to do?" RUDE, I wanted to discuss their experience that's what!! Had they contacted me sooner the plan was to bring them back in to show them their hair and allow them to decide how to proceed or see how they could turn it into a teachable moment for their students but I've simply been ignored. read more

I stopped by this morning to get my hair done. I walked in to about 20 other women waiting to get their hair done too. First you sign in and make sure you put on the paper what you want to get done. I asked for a wash, blow dry and flat iron. I only waited for about 30 mins before being seen by Aisha, who was my stylist. She did a great job shampooing and I wouldn't have thought that she was just a student. I can't say the same for all the other students, but they seemed professional for the most part. I wouldn't do anything risky like getting a serious (or specific) hair cut or a color, but for the basics they do a great job! Definitely exercise patience and come with a great attitude. I came in at 10am and left around 12pm. If you see 20-30 people inside, just be patient and allow 2-3 hours. With a shampoo and conditioner, blow dry, and flat iron it only costs me $10 and you can't beat that! I will definitely come back when I have more time. Walk In Services: Just be mindful about Saturday's, I called one time and I was told you needed to make an appointment on Monday if you want a Saturday appointment. This was my first time in the salon and it was a rewarding experience . It was very clean and social distancing with mask wearing was in full effect . It made me feel comfortable during this pandemic . The stylist did a great job on my head . I got a scalp treatment , condition and blow dry . This is a TERRIBLE school. Just terrible. I regret every penny and every minute spent here. First off, they will spend so much time fighting and arguing and talking about pop culture instead of teaching students. They will not spend any time on teaching you African American hairstyles if you haven't ever done them before. In fact I was repeatedly insulted by older women and women my age just for being a different color. "She never had any black friends when she was a kid!" I was singled out and not given any extra time or training. Other people in the class would laugh and make fun of me for not knowing how to work with rough textured hair. Secondly, there is no professionalism. No manners. No politeness. They use terminology that I have never heard before and do not even bother trying to describe or explain things to you in detail. They swear and curse and let their students fight and argue. I saw like 6 separate fights in the 5/6 months I attended this program. Got my car hit in the parking lot. And nothing was resolved, ever, even after talking to multiple instructors about the harassment and my car getting hit. Lastly, this program is a waste of time and money. And a terrible, mean environment for young women who want to learn about hair styling and cutting. You're better off watching tutorials on YouTube. No one here wants to help educate you. read more

I love going to Empire. I had the luxury of having a stylist who went to Empire and also did my hair at her home..so when money was low I would visit her at the school! I have had my hair done by two other different ladies who did a fine job as well. I did have a weird experience at the Dunwoody location where a guy did my hair and I think he was scared to style it. As he flat ironed it he wouldn't comb through it and he flat-ironed almost my whole head without combing it once until I picked up the comb and combed through it..very odd...seems like that should be a natural thing to do..it still came out fine. As long as I can get a great shampoo and good flat iron all is good in the world..once I get home I can wrap it and style it to my liking and for $10 you can't beat that..i wouldn't recommend getting a relaxer or color treatment here but just stick to the basics..if you can afford it some things need to be done by professional technicians. the customer service is sub-par..its like you never know how the staff will act. but hey..as long as you get me signed in and to my stylist whatever but if this was my usual paying over $50 for a hair service I would expect and demand excellent customer service skills. I wont support a business or invest that much into it if they don't know how to treat their clients. read more

I have been going here for about 5 years, and had a few issues here and there but nothing major enough to stop me from going until TODAY. I am 2.5 years natural and haven't put a flat iron in my hair since. I just been going to Empire to get scalp treatments, wash, blow and trim.. hadn't had a problem until today. I know people that have been natural their entire life and never been told they had to flat iron their hair for a regular trim. First off, my wash started off a mess. Instead of him using a comb to try to detangle my 4C hair, he tried to use his finger. Um no. #2, he didnt wash my hair properly.. my hair is still dirty. #3, he barely blow dried my hair. He didnt even TRY to stretch my hair. It was barely stretched to the point im currently in my bathroom having to reblow my hair. When it came time to trim my ends, he didnt know wth to do. So an instructor stepped in (Monique is her name) and tried to tell me to get my hair pressed in order to get a "legit trim".. NO MA'AM. Thats not right. I'm not going back here EVER again. If your students can't handle 4C hair, let clients know before sitting in the chair. Ridiculous read more
