I was upset to see vintage makeup outside melting in the oppressive heat - the furniture outside LOVELY - a cabinet with marble top was divine. Wicker chest of drawers. Records galore inside. DVDs outside. Piles of clothes if that's your jam. I overheard the more you buy the less you pay ??? I paid 20 bucks for 9 miscellaneous items.

A true vintage shop. As in, you'll actually find items here from the 70's and before, when things…read morewere made to last. This place is cramped to the max with everything you can imagine from decades past: costume jewelry, canvas paintings, sports pennants, it doesn't stop. They do have newer items such VHS tapes and DVD's stashed in the back. The manager will price everything when you go to check out, but his prices are very reasonable, and the more you buy the better deal he'll give you. He must be good at math. I like people who are good at math. Not a long walk from the Valley Stream LIRR station. Totally worth the trip from the City or Brooklyn. And yes, you can Uber back to the train station with your take! There's on one reason not to love this place: you're extremely claustrophobic. Oh no, what did I write?! Stay away, leave everything for me!

I went back a dozen times when it said online that the store was open, but it was always closed. I was driving by today I saw the door was open, so I finally got the opportunity to browse. The merchandise was really hard to see because things were haphazardly on top of each other, and most of the things were scratched/chipped/broken or had water damage. I found ONE cute little picture that wasn't damaged, so I looked up it's worth online before asking how much she was charging for it. It was $5 online-- and online it comes with an artist bio, not just a mat. (Screenshot attached) After she charged someone in front of me who was carrying a pile of things $8 for everything, I asked her how much for the little picture (this was a print reproduction, not an original limited print or artist proof or anything), and SHE SAYS TO ME: $20!!! I was astounded-- there were other pictures 10x the size labeled $15. It seemed really nervy to ask me $20 for a little picture at a secondhand junk store. I just said thank you and left. I can't help but think that because I am White-passing and was there with my Irish boyfriend, that she gave me a much higher price than she would have given me had I looked more like the other customer there. Really disappointing experience. When I went to the LI Trading Post in Bellmore, I got two pieces of wood furniture for a total of $10. I've never heard of charging customers $20 for one tiny decorative, not even functional, item at this type of store. THIS store, especially, because it was a really mess and hard to navigate (I had to leap over stuff in the aisles to get through-- the place should have citations for fire hazards), and I felt like I was at risk of getting bedbugs just by being in there.

The owner is friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and generous. She puts books outside in the front of her store every night for anyone to have, for free. Be patient, be a good detective, and sort through her huge inventory to find whatever you think you need.
