But as life rapidly progressed in the last 6 years, I have added a spouse, 2 kids, an income rental property, an "oopsie, I forgot to report" turned IRS Audit, all which were handled by Yvonne (who I was informed today has reduced to being seasonal staff member). She handled everything with ease and professionalism. Guided us through the Audit battle with the IRS and steered the ship back on course. Today I want to rave about Joe Webb, Senior Tax Professional. I had an investment opportunity arise in which I wanted to know the tax implications it would have next year. Joe was not only very thorough in his answers, but was able to clearly and knowledgeably "dumb down" the complicated situation for me to feel confident in moving forward with a decision. Not only did he just give general advice, but he took the time to open up my client folder and tell me specifically what to look out for and some potential strategies. It is so rare to find a company these days where client relations and service is top priority. By the way, I live in Austin, TX, and for the last 6 years have made all my appointments via phone/email. I have never been into the offices, but still get treated like a VIP!

I'm going to try to make a criticism sandwich out of my bad experience:…read more THE GOOD - Albert seems like a nice guy who is trying to make money to feed his family. I believe he wants to do right by his customers, but... when it all comes down to it he really only wants customers who are willing to pay premium pricing for average (at best) services. THE BAD - For me, his kindness ended when I simply asked him why he charges almost twice as much ($500 for my personal taxes compared to someone else who charged me $300 last year) as other CPA's when he is doing the same calculations for your taxes. After spending an hour and a half discussing my tax history with Albert, I finally asked about pricing. This is when he told me about his high prices. So I let him know that for the sake of time I would be willing to pay him to do my taxes this year, but at that price I would likely not continue to use him year after year. To my surprise, he got defensive at this point and let me know that I should probably find someone else to do my taxes because it "wouldn't be worth his time" to do my taxes for one year. What good business person turns down easy money when you have already done half the work? THE SILVER LINING - Although this guy completely wasted my time, I'm happy he showed his true colors. I have plans to purchase a franchise or start a business in the near future in addition to potentially investing in real estate. I would hate to work with someone who feels they are "too good" to work with me on my simple taxes when I know my taxes will become more complex in time. I truly feel that I dodged a bullet on this one. Good luck to you if you choose to use this guy for your tax prep. I hope you have deep pockets!
