I have had some ups, and some downs. BUT... Their chicken fried steak remains the breakfast standard for me. Even under recent new ownership, it is still perfect. I don't even have to look at the menu to know what to order And it would have been 5 stars, but the transition didn't carry over for everything. The crepes are not as good as they used to be. read more

I discovered this restaurant about three years ago and I've gone multiple times for breakfast and always enjoyed the food. The food was plentiful. It was good and the servers were professional. However, my last visit earlier this week with my husband for brunch we had good service from our server. The food was good and plentiful but the thing that bothered me most was the atmosphere. I was happy to see that there were several new young servers with various backgrounds and ethnicities it was good to see that diversity. However, the servers were young and rowdy. The men and women were very loud, shouting across the restaurant at each other talking, laughing and general horseplay. it is good to have a great time at work, but it must be respectful of the surroundings and the atmosphere that is being created for the customers. There was also loud music playing in the background that made it feel like a bar instead of a breakfast cafe. It was not a comfortable setting and I had to tell an older server, maybe the supervisor, that the young servers were too loud. A little training and reminder to the servers is all that is needed to correct this behavior. read more

The overall Ambience of this restaurant is family owned which is a good thing in my opinion. The staff was very friendly and the service was pretty fast and accurate. The overall cost was affordable. The food taste great. The only thing that grabbed my attention that wasn't a positive was the little bit of construction that was needed in the area in which the bathrooms were located. Seeing cables going into other rooms to Supply Power was a little concerning. The overall Vibes were Diner vibes which I think is quite Pleasant. As far as the food goes though I would recommend trying this location out for breakfast or brunch. read more

The food was good, it's always a clean place to eat and the servers are nice. They just updated their menu and the prices definitely went up. They charged me $3.75 for a cup of coffee..which, isn't the best quality but whatever.. it's the watered down coffee that every dinner serves but the biggest frustration was they charged me $6 for a side of bacon that came with two little pieces of bacon! I got the steak skillet with potatoes and two eggs ($21).... So after tip, I paid $38 dollars for a skillet, side of bacon and coffee... I'm all for places making profit but this was just highway robbery.. read more

I was craving pancakes and I ordered the breakfast combo #1 and a Western Omelette. Ordering was easy online. We have eaten at as well as ordered online from Emily's in the past. Always had a good experience and my only complaint was the short hours , but that wasn't a complaint as much as it was a craving occasionally hitting and realizing that they were closed. I noticed that they had a pop up on website when ordering indicating they are hiring. We pulled into the lot to pick up our food and saw the under new ownership sign... "uh oh" says my husband. I order was set to be ready in two more minutes. He went in and came out 20 minutes later and made a comment that they're struggling. Cashier was digging through trash for a receipt, waitress came up to hostess and said stop sending people to this side, I am swamped... We get home and.... No pancakes My husband said his omelette was watery and disappointing. I was still staring at my pancake-less combo. The eggs were edible but I would not say good, but my tastebuds were trying to overcome my disappointment. I did not call to advise of the mistake, so I cannot say if they would have rectified the problem. I hope they can work out the kinks and staffing issues but I will hold on returning and check yelp reviews first next time read more

Saturday was my birthday, and 2 of my daughters and my 2 youngest grandchildren went to Emiy's to celebrate as is our custom. I ordered a greek omelet as a treat for me. when it came ig looked more like crambled eggs than an omelet, but more importantly while I was eating it I wasn't getting the right taste!! There was some kind of meat, tomato's , a very small container on the side of sone kind of a white sauce....but not one piece of spinach anywhere to be found and there didn't seem to be much feta cheese, Before I finished we received a phone call that we were needed at home because my husband was having a medical problem. On my way out I told the waitress that I had not found 1 piece of spinach, and she told me that if I had ordered spinach they would have put it in. I copied from their menu on line the following:From Emily's pancake house menu Greek Omelet Omelet with spinach, tomato, onion, and feta cheese. So, something was wrong with the cook and I was very disappointed. The pancaks were good and people were mostly friendly, but I didn't get what I ordered. read more

Superb pancake house. I had the Breakfast enchiladas with scrambled eggs substituted chorizo for the chicken along with peppers onions and ranchero sauce. It was covered with Monterey Jack cheese. Came with a side of refried beans and Spanish rice. I really enjoyed this hearty breakfast plate. They did have gluten free pancake but not gluten free syrup. Maybe next time. read more

Went there Sunday March 1st big mistake have been going there for years when we saw the "under new ownership" sign that said it all! Place was empty, we both ordered the smash burgers. Looked good but didn't taste good. Very greasy brioche bun was drenched in butter! fell apart. Apparently, there are no refills on coffee or soda we were never offered any and as I looked around no one else at all was being offered refills EITHER! Then they add a Convivence fee to your bill without telling you. As a business if you choose to take credit cards then YOU eat the cost! If you pay with a debit card, they take it off. I wonder how many people don't notice this. If the food, service and lower prices than I can justify it maybe. What few people were in there I heard alot of comments. and the plastic bottles for syrup are tacky. Well, I wish Emily's good luck we won't be back unless the old owner buys it back! read more

Came back today with my wife and two kids. Prices are insane and the portion sizes have shrunk. No kids menus were offered. My wife and I ordered the country fried steak. It is half the size than it had been previously, and the coating is different. Tasted like of of those frozen dinner country fried steaks. My daughter had a small glass of chocolate milk, and I mean a small juice sized glass that cost $4.50. No refills. My son had a single belgium waffle with some fruity on it, no sides, and it cost $16.50. What happened to the whipped butter? You now get little packets of butter, like I'm at McDonald's or something. Oh, and they bring out the syrup in plastic squeeze bottles which makes the the place look cheap. Anyway, total bill with tip was over $100 (I feel completely ripped off). This is what I would expect to pay for dinner, not breakfast. Since the standards and portion sizes have been lowered, I will not be returning. Edit: Just found out it is under new management. That's why the quality has plummeted. read more

New menu. Quality food and cappuccino. Had the meat lovers skillet, burrito, and apple pie French toast. Everything was amazing. Don't listen to the 1 star reviews because they didn't have spinach in their omelet- grow up and eat it. Staff was great too! read more

Emily's Pancake House. Food is consistently good. Service is fast and great. A go-to spot for a satisfying meal every time.

We've been a few times, it's okay, but much better options in the area. Service is always slow.

I've been coming to this restaurant for over twelve years. Was there today and I shocked. The hostess in the past were ALLWAYS We're dressed Professional but today it was like a Different atmosphere.. Even the staff didn't looked not Put together. The fruit was old and the eggs were over done. read more

Gross/dirty dining room/booths. Food is way overpriced for the area and the portions served. Service was adequate. Will not return.

My boyfriend and I came here for a late breakfast which unfortunately didn't start off strong. The Enchiladas were quite soggy with the sauce they put on top- which also wasn't really good. The sauce had a very poor and weak flavor as it lacks spice and overall flavoring. The rice as well was just terrible it was dry, sticky , And hard which was not a good combo. The pumpkin pancakes are the only thing that were actually good and worth the money. It was sweet, soft , warm, and plain delightful. Now, let's get to the employees, everyone was very friendly, and we did see positive encounters with other customers which I'm guessing are daily's, so we love seeing that. Overall, the place is lovely, but the food just needs more attention, or update on recipes. read more

Honestly my kids like the Mickey Mouse pancakes but everything else is pretty bad. The place looks kind of dusty. Always stuff on the floor. Doesn't scream clean. My family ordered and the food took a long time; I guess the order got lost. The server apologized but didn't make any effort to compensate. When our food finally came, my burger was burnt, the bun was almost black. Not sure how that got sent out that way. Chocolate chip pancake was just a pancake with chocolate chips on top. (Aren't they usually baked in?) Then we get the bill and it's almost 60 bucks. Any other diner would be half that. read more

Emily's Lindenhurst, IL. 103022 @ 1:00pm Not too busy, several waitresses. My wife and I stopped in for a late breakfast. She ordered 2 eggs and hash browns well done with toast. Hash browns were not cooked and never received the toast. Waitress brought maple syrup to the table and said our waffles are on the way. We never ordered waffles. I ordered steak and eggs. Well done steak and wheat toast, I received white toast. The steak was tough, not cooked enough. Never saw the waitress again, expect with the bill. "Too much clowning around by the waitresses". Staff dressed up for Halloween. Pay attention and get the order correct. Almost $40.00 for two people. Service and food unacceptable for the high prices! read more

This place makes a good argument for eating at home and cooking yourself. Breakfast for three people with tip $58. For that we were underwhelmed with extra crispy, ie burnt bacon, unfluffy pancakes and generally food without a lot of flavor. Our waitress was very nice though. I would think if you have pancake house as part of your name you would have good pancakes. These were nothing special. My butchers omelette was just so so. I have been here before and I preferred the breakfast burrito so maybe it's best to skip the traditional breakfast items and ho for the specialty stuff. We did see some nice looking mini waffles but they were $6. That might not sound like a lot but they were small. You could buy a box of Eggos for less. I get that everything is more expensive with inflation and a lick of workers which is exactly why eating out should be special. This wasn't. I don't understand why one order of bacon was perfect and one was burnt. Where is the quality control? This was the first time we went out for breakfast in a long time, not including vacations or travel. We probably will wait a year before we try this again. I will say this. The toast was great. No joke. read more

Was wary based on previous negative reviews, so I was surprised when we entered and saw gourmet specials on the board. The environment was jolly and we were seated near a large group enjoying themselves immensely. The menu held more gourmet options as well as basic favorites. One downside to the menu, the pretty lime green titles on the menu were distracting and so light that you could miss something if you didn't look hard enough. Had the French Toast combo. It was delicious, but one of my eggs was a little runny and I ordered them over medium. I ate it anyway. Another plus was that the food arrived swiftly and hot. Will try again. read more

If i could give it i would leave 0 because they charged their tip twice!!! it is ridiculous! The food was okay and then we were generous with their tip because the food was not good and we tipped a good 18% which was 15 dollars and they left themselves 30. They did not put it in the recipe because they knew they were trying to scam us but looking at the transactions on our card we realized we were charged double tip. How ridiculous! Complete scam and i recommend people to stay far away. read more

What an absolute JOKE of management there. JOKE..... Their website offers on line ordering. It is through Grubhub and it offers delivery and pick up. I placed an order on Friday for Saturday, received text and e-mail confirmations. The order was for my mom's 87th birthday. I got here early, the hostess checked on the order and said it was in progress. 15 minutes later the manager (could be owner) asked me if I had been helped, I explained my order. She told me they do not do on line orders, I showed it on her website and I showed my confirmations. Much arguing back and forth and she refused to accept she was WRONG. Long story short, I get ANOTHER confirmation text that my order is ready, turns out she turned on her order tablet which "had nit been used in months" and there was my order. She blamed it on GOOGLE saying "they could not control what Google put on their website". She said this OUTLOUD........... I went there for my mom's favorite dish, now I know I never have to go back to this pathetic excuse of a restaurant. read more

Went to Emily's for lunch on a Sunday. The hours show on-line are until 5pm. We arrived at 2:45 and the hostess immediately said we are closing at 3:00. I Stated it says 5pm on-line. She ok, We need to change that. She wouldn't seat us. I am very surprised and disappointed they didn't take us. Most Resteraunt's take people late because the staff has side work and they don't want to lose customers. Maybe we will try again sometime and I can leave a great review. read more

I have ordered from Emily's a few times now since I moved to Lake County recently and I have to say it is one of the best breakfast experiences I have had since moving here. Today I ordered my usual, the garage plate, and a pecan roll. The food was finely prepared, tasted great, and there was plenty of butter and syrup packed in with my meal. Thank you so much to whoever took the time to draw a little smiley face on my pecan roll tin, that was so sweet and it made my little morning. I would recommend Emily's to anyone who lives in the area. read more

My family and I enjoy going to Emily's about once a month. The place is always busy but that a sign of a good restaurant in my eyes. The service is quick even when the place is packed. The atmosphere is always pleasant and welcoming (we have gone after all type of even and always been welcome I.e. early morning sport events, church, just waking up hungry). If you order a la carte your bill could get a little pricey for breakfast expensive, so I'd suggest looking at some of the combo and see if anything catches your eye. Emily's is only open for breakfast and lunch so just keep that in mind. read more

Not happy with my recent visit. There's still a pandemic going on. Covid rates are rising even with a vaccine available. They are not disinfecting tables between customers. They wipe every table down with the same cloth. Good thing I had sanitizing wipes in my purse. read more
