I saw Dr. Soorani for several years. His progressive approach worked very well for me. He is willing to try new ideas and this was important to me because traditional therapies had failed me already. I have been a patient of Doctor Soorani's for a year now, I used to be quite skeptical of seeing a psychiatrist for my PTSD, Autism and ADHD, however Docotor Soorani helped change all that. His understanding, kind and approachable demeanor made it easy for me to open up and know that I truly can trust him. I had an extremely poor experience with Dr. Soorani. During our first consultation (for which he charges $750 -- and no, he doesn't take insurance), he was completely unable to use Zoom (which he claimed he uses "all the time.") I kept requesting that we reschedule the appointment, but he insisted we continue, even though at that point I was too frustrated and distracted to benefit from it. He ended up finishing the VERY disjointed conversation via telephone. (And no, he did not offer to charge me one penny less). During the $300 follow-up appointment, he once again appeared to be clueless as to how Zoom works, and apparently didn't know of its time limit for free usage. (Again, if this was something he regularly used, why would he not have a paid account?) To add insult to injury, I was then billed an ADDITIONAL 30 minutes for the appointment, which again was prolonged and disjointed by the interruptions. When I questioned this, Cecilia -- his office manager -- after several back and forth emails, finally agreed to refund part of the fee. After several months and more emails, in which she insisted she had processed the refund, she then wrote to say that after "multiple attempts" she was unable to do so, and asked if I'd prefer a check. I agreed and sent her my mailing address. Needless to say, I never received anything. This would be bad business practice for anyone, but for a psychiatrist dealing, ostensibly, with people suffering from mental issues, it is inexcusable. read more

5 stars for depth of knowledge, compassion, and deep understanding of neurological processes and how they respond to different medications. After having seen other people in this field and feeling disappointed (as though I was getting "cookie cutter" advice, Dr. Soorani took a ton of time with me and pin-pointed a medication to help me overcome the lasting results of a traumatic brain injury. The one downside to his thoroughness is that sometimes appointments run very long, and then that has a domino-effect on other appointments that builds up, so the wait time is usually substantial (1hr+), so clear your calendar for the rest of the afternoon, just in case. read more

I've know dozens of psychiatrists in my career and Dr. Soorani surpases all of them in sheer talent. He is a genius at reading people and approaching them correctly and has boundless empathy. I am a physician in the area of preventative health and wellness , hormone therapy, and gynecology, and even though I pride myself in solving difficult problems, he is the only doctor i trust to both correctly diagnose and successfully treat the patient who has an " unsolvable" psychiatric problem. I admire the way he can skillfully lead patients out of their desperate states - imparting his philosophy and kindness to somehow leave them optimistic in spite of their dilemma. I always know he will be gentle and careful and somehow find an answer. Unfortunately, doctors can now be quite narrow in their focus, yet Dr Soorani's patience and knowledge allows him to cover a wide variety of a patient's problems. He uses his knowledge of medicine in general to asses and integrate; psychiatry to treat; philosophy to guide. Doctor Soorani is kind and a joy to be able to have as one of my fathers doctors. The problem that I have is that with how long the wait is and is how all that I can here from the waiting room is two ladies behind the glass talking about personal their business. Not too long after these ladies were done talking did a third lady come in with food and soon enough people from other departments came to join. Two pharmaceutical reps came in about 30-40 mins after we did and they were still let in before us. This is a joke. I understand that there are things going on but each time my dad comes here he has to drive 25 miles to see him. He shouldn't have to wait 2-3 hours for an appointment every time he comes down here. Yes, it takes a long time to actually get in and see Dr. Soorani. Yes, this is a pain. Yes, all kinds of people walk in and take precedence over patients with appointments. If I could give this doctor zero stars I would. He totally overcharged my son and the office lied to my face numerous times. Cecilia, the office manager said she sent in a claim. When my insurance company didn't get the claim I asked her to send it to me to see if she did it correctly. After numerous requests she finally sent it to me and I discovered she had put the wrong ID number. When I asked her to send in a new claim with the correct ID number, she lied and said she did but really never did send it until I had my insurance company call her since she wouldn't answer my calls. Then after numerous calls she finally sent it in but again filled it out incorrectly showing that I didn't pay so that the insurance company would send her the money. Fact is the doctor would not see my son without full payment first so this office was trying to be paid twice!!! Once by me and then by the insurance company. Any doctor who can keep an office staff this corrupt and incompetent should not be treating patients! read more
