Ordered the spinach, ricotta and feta pie with a side of daily salad (green bean and a bunch of other veggies in vinaigrette dressing). The pie came with a side of homemade chutney and the serving size was pretty big (for a pie). Even though it was filled with cheese, it didn't feel heavy in the stomach. My partner ordered the sausage apple roll (made from free-range Victorian Pork) and it was the biggest sausage roll I've seen. I've only been in three or four times in the last year yet each time they remember who I am. The store itself is clean and the breads are always well displayed. The rolls here are very soft, particularly the flour rolls. The doughnuts also look a lot nicer than those in chain bakeries, cheaper too. He also has an outlet in Croydon, but we go to his shop in Parkhill Plaza, Berwick, Victoria. Sure I've eaten some really exotic and outlandish pies and some of them have been bizarre and some wow. I like the pies at the 'Pie in the Sky' in Olinda in the Dandenong ranges in Victoria, and I used to like the pies from the 'Yatala Pie shop' in Yatala, Queensland. I've had pies in the USA, Canada and the UK, and strangely enough even in Asia, but in my book, I still think Phil's are the best.
