My fiance and I come here a lot. The last 3 times we came they kept telling us that our next smoothie is free because of the points we have accumulated. The reward system is a joke and the employees are rude. I was up in Bellingham doing some training and needed something protein packed for a long day ahead - This location is inside the complex where the new Whole Foods is going to be. I wish them serious luck to stay put, even though WF usually has a smoothie bar of its own. I consider Emerald City's product to be superior and more of a true health/work out/gym rat menu. It's a franchises with 40+ stores, I know, but I love the Just Peachy and the Nutty Banana ones. I also love how, on their website, you can choose a wellness goal and it will match the smoothie with that goal. This is a regular stop for me when I'm around, and I might even fight the parking lot craziness that is sure to ensue just to frequent them! read more

But recently I took my daughter here for a healthy breakfast on the way to school and it was really good! They have multiple flavor combinations, including dairy free and vegan options. This place used to be great. I moved to Seattle and come up here once a year and it's not what it used to be. I just stood in line for 15 mins while the manager just stood there staring at the line. Then he decided to casually go down the street to get rolled coins from the bank and leave the one obviously new young kid alone. Then I pay $9 for a smoothie. I always get the Raspberry Dream with banana and caffeine. Its always good enough that I don't care about the price. This one sucks. Like there is no raspberries in it. Bland. read more

What I typically get here is "The Builder" shake, which has I believe 1,240 calories in it and is really good for bulking and helps you form lean muscle mass. The smoothies they prepare for you here accommodates everyone's particular needs weather or not you're here just because it's delicious, or because of your particular training focus. I constantly come in and get a custom regular sized strawberry smoothie, super basic no special add-ins, and it ALWAYS comes out $3.25 sometimes $4. No problem right? Well, recently I went in, ordered my drink, and was charged $5.86! After trying to explain my order and how I had never been charged this much to the employee, she rudely told me that I was incorrect and insisted that I was lying because she never heard of a price so low before. I said I didn't want the smoothie and would not be paying for it but she continued to argue with me. I went into this shop looking for a protein shake for my son who is a very picky eater. I was hoping to find a healthy breakfast shake to get his morning off on the right start since he isn't willing to eat many things. The owner was very helpful and was willing to let my son sample the shake. They have a ton of different protein drinks and health supplements so it is definitely worth visiting this store. Pretty good. The girls at the counters always seem to be happy to help me save money. They have FDA approved pea-based whey protein that they sell here which is a plus. They are very willing to accommodate customized shakes. Compared to the amount of protein you get spending the same amount of money elsewhere, this place is hands down much better. Love the people who work here but smoothies are inconsistent. I've never experienced this at other locations. I used to go every day but stopped because I was frustrated paying for something I often didn't enjoy. It's to awkward to mention it to the people every time it's not good because it would be more often than not. Came back recently hoping for a good one and was so happy I drank the whole thing. I got the raspberry dream which was delicious and my sister got the guava passion smoothie also very good. Normally I like emerald city smoothie, I've been to Seattle and Tumwater locations and they keep things consistent with recipes and being upfront about what they're putting in your smoothie. Typically you order a smoothie off the board of choices- and they make additions or substitutions and I'm a happy girl. However, I came to the lakeway one- ordered my usual- the PB & J- and I got the most disgusting tasting smoothie I've ever had. Even though it mentions blueberries in the ingredients on the board, they didn't put any in. They added powdered milk without telling me, a sugary over processed shot of b-12... And added a boat load of peanut butter. When I asked why it tasted so different they said the owner of that specific franchise wanted to keep things "original" so he secretly has his employees add powdered milk and a shot of b-12 to all the smoothies. I found that extremely deceptive for those with lactose/vegan concerns. I asked other emerald city smoothie places if this was standard procedure and all said this was not ok. Not sure what's up with this place.... Make sure you watch them make your food and ask questions! read more
