There are several trails around the water and all the ones we took were beautiful. There are some trails that are paved. Others along the water were dirt and potentially a little muddy, but still very walkable. This place seems family, dog, and kid friendly. You can adjust the trails you choose very easily, as they all loop around the creek. Also, there is a small educational center that would be good for kids to teach them about the local wildlife.
