I usually go to the Emagine Novi, but the movie I wanted to see wasn't playing at a time that worked for me. I saw that it was playing at the Palladium at a more convenient time, so I decided to there.. I'd actually forgotten about this theater. It was odd to me that the theater is on the 4th floor; I wasn't sure I was in the right place, and because I was there at an odd time (early Friday afternoon), there weren't any other people around. The young man at the concession stand (where they were also selling tickets) was very kind and courteous; he even asked if the amount of butter on my popcorn was ok. The theater area seems very upscale. There's a piano playing, and just a nice ambiance. The theaters themselves have the reclining seats and are comfortable. It was a little chilly in there (I was the only patron for a while, and then one other person entered the theater, so it was basically a private showing!), so I was glad to have my jacket as a blanket. The only thing I really didn't like was the parking situation. Yes, Birmingham gives you 2 hours free parking in the structures, but the movie runs just under that amount of time, and by the time you walk to & from the theater, you're over the 2 hours and end up having to pay. read more

Arrived at theater between 1230-1p, so shortly after it opened. Asked for cup of coffee at concession stand but was told no cups and no cream, so no coffee. Went to bar area and was told the same. Neither employee offered to go look for these items, nor did they offer to call a manager to inquire. The theater had just opened up, how is it items were not stocked beforehand? If items were out since yesterday at closing, how is it they weren't replaced. After the movie, more than one theater let out at the same time and crowds formed at the elevators and patrons jammed inside. Myself, and a few others, asked about stairs but were told they can only be used for emergencies, for safety reasons.....what??? I'm going to be checking with Birmingham's building inspectors, but shouldn't it be mandatory to make stairs available as an alternative exit at all times. Called and talked to someone who said he was the manager on duty but could offer no explanation for any of this other than to say they usually do keep cups and cream but they must have been out. He did not even offer to look into it. For safety reasons I will never go back to this theater, and it's a shame for the high ticket prices and concession charges that someone can't even make sure supplies are ordered. I will continue to see movies at the Birmingham 8 theater and highly recommed to others. read more

Overall, the theater was immaculately clean. The bathrooms were clean and the was to meet everyone's needs. There is parking in an adjacent parking garage or you can attempt to find street parking. My only issue would be. I wish they had vegan concession items for purchase. The Emagine palladium is the nicest theater I have visited in this area. The theater is clean, the seats are comfy recliners, and the rooms are big and spaced out, so there are no bad seats. Ticket prices were reasonable, and the theater was nice and cool. There is no parking, but there is a structure across the street that provides two free hours, and each additional is only $2. Came here today to see mission impossible movie. Ordered two large popcorns, two small and one large drink, nachos and a couple of sweets. Guy at the counter gave me two large drinks instead of one so I returned one of the two large cups but since he already punched in the total and i only noticed after I tapped my card, a supervisor had to come in and refund me the $7 something for the drink but then charged me $9 something after? I asked why because I was confused, the guy at the counter was giving me an explanation that didn't make sense at all so I just let it go since we were going to be late for our movie. Just gave two stars because the theater was clean. Edited: came home and realized after looking at the receipt that the supervisor actually thought I was trying to exchange the drink with a large popcorn when actually the popcorn was already included in the order. Wished the cashier corrected the guy doing the refund but he just stood there. I know it's only a couple dollars difference but they do add up when you're buying snacks for four moviegoers. read more

Emagine theater "Palladium" I really enjoyed theaters when I was younger. Now that I can produce the same effect at home, I don't go to theaters much anymore. I did work at Star theater about 20 years ago. So I know how it works. Should I be honest? I'll just make it simple. The location to downtown is perfect. Terrible parking. World smallest food section. Omg. I've seen $1 theaters with bigger food section. Their food selection is crazy! Lots of choices! They even bring you the food if you order a lot and need help. Huge popcorn bin. They even have a working popcorn machine! Very unusual. Self serve pop and icee. Free refills. The chairs are reclining. Lots of space between the chairs. Audio and video are all good. The negative? Some of the chairs are torn. Probably from abuse. You must take an elevator to the theater. This theater will not hold a BIG movie premiere. Too small. If you live close, this would be an obvious choice. Like me, I live far away, there are better theaters. Still Recommend read more

I think it was called just the Palladium theater before Emagine took it to over. Movie tickets were a bit higher before and even after Emagine took it over. Emagine Theaters is the best movie theater chain in Michigan and the Midwest! It, as any who has gone to see a movie at Emagine knows, was founded in Michigan (Clarkston!) by CEO & chairman Paul Glantz! (He welcomes you to Emagine before every movie plays!) It has now expanded its locations throughout all of Michigan and the Midwest, and I couldn't be more proud of this little company that could! Emagine is focused on the customer's experience firstly and is truly everything you're looking for in a movie theater: reserved seating, chairs that RECLINE, ARE ROOMY, AND HEAT UP (if you want!), concessions delivered straight to your seat, a bar to purchase alcohol from, IMAX screens (they're called EMAX here!), $5 movie Tuesdays (with free popcorn if you enroll in their FREE loyalty program), and that's just to name a few! If you live anywhere within the metro Detroit area, there is probably an Emagine located not too far away from you. If that's the case then trust me, it's worth the drive. I average watching 70 movies a year in theaters, and I almost exclusively only watch them at Emagine because they are just that great. You will never have a better movie-going experience than when you're at Emagine Entertainment! Emagine Palladium, specifically, is a testament to how wonderful Emagine is as a company. Growing up, the Palladium, which is the name of this building in Birmingham, was colloquially known as the coolest movie theater around in Oakland County. Whenever my friends and I hung out in middle or high school, it was typically to go and see movies at the Palladium. Back then, the Palladium was this awesome 4-story movie theater. The first floor was the ticket counter, then you took an escalator up to the 2nd floor. Floors 2 through 4 were all theaters and it was just SO COOL. I don't know why giving theaters more than one floor always seems so cool, but that's what the Palladium was. So imagine my extreme sadness when I heard the Palladium was closing down when I was in college. It's a place where I had so many memories and that really sparked my love for the movies. I was extremely disheartened to hear that it was closing. But then *imagine* my absolute delight and surprise when many years later, after graduating from college, settling back down in Oakland County, becoming a loyalty member at Emagine, that I find out that Emagine has bought the Palladium and will be opening it back up in its name!!!!!! Emagine, how could I possibly love you more?! This was single-handedly the coolest thing you could've ever done. I love that Emagine is so rooted into the community and listens to what the community loves and, frankly, NEEDS. Granted, Emagine Palladium is just the one floor, you take the elevator from the ground floor to the fourth floor of the building now, so it's not as *grand* as it used to be, but the nostalgia is there enough that I appreciate it beyond words and love Emagine forever for doing this. I'm happy for have even a little bit of my Palladium back and will often see movies here just for nostalgia's sake! Emagine Palladium only offers "standard" showings - no 3D, EMAX, or DBOX here. They have about 5-6 theaters, so they don't show *many* movies, but normally show all the hits especially if they're very current. There's also a massive space for a restaurant/bar. Before the pandemic, this was open, but nowadays, it remains closed for the most part. Emagine Palladium is where I take FULL advantage of them delivering concessions to the seats though because they have the most delicious fries. You can order a whole boat of fries, perfectly fried and crispy on the outside, but thick enough to still contain some soft potato on the inside, with a side of dipping sauce and get it delivered right to your seat. I absolutely love them for this and it makes the experience just that much more enjoyable. Pro-tip: Park at the 333 Park Street parking structure, which is behind/to the side of the Palladium building. What's great in the city of Birmingham is that they provide the first two hours in any parking structure throughout the city free! So often times, you can make it in and out of this structure without paying or paying very little depending on the run time of your movie! read more

Stopped in tonight to watch A Quiet Place Part 2. Emagine Palladium was not my first pick to watch a movie, but given the fact that Emagine bought the Birmingham 8 during the pandemic and it hasn't opened yet, this was where we chose to go. You have to take an elevator up to the 4th floor just to get to the movie theater. From there, there's really no direction to anything. No markings for theatres. No signs on where the bar is. The concession stand in addition to the very limited space to get to theatres left a lot to be desired. Very cramped. Very claustrophobic. I absolutely disliked the whole experience. There was only a handful of people in the theatre with us. Everyone was on their phone. The recliners weren't the greatest, which is fine, except my seat didn't work and I couldn't see most of the movie. Between that and the constant use of cell phones, I wasn't pleased. First movie going experience in 18 months and I don't think I'll be back here. read more

This theater is perfect when you don't want to be in the large crowds that of the Emagine Royal Oak. There is a full bar, which is expected at theaters now along with reclining seats. My family watched Black Panther: Wakanda Forever here, about a week after opening day. The film was shown in the "screening room" which is a smaller theater with only 4 rows of seats. The sound and picture quality were great and there wasn't a huge crowd to deal with. No lines at the concession stand or to get on the elevator to leave. Parking in the structure around the corner was free on Sunday, I'm not sure of the regular cost. read more

I'm happy with the Palladium theater for the most part. But, I can't believe how slow customers have to wait at the food / ticket counter...RIDICULOUS! I have waited OVER 5 min for 1 customer to be serviced. The young kids who work the counter barely know what they're doing. I blame mgmt! The chairs in the theater are peeling terribly. I do understand during Covid that attendance is WAY down, and I'm sure very costly to fix, but it does make the theaters look like crap! read more

This isn't the best Emagine location, but it's very convenient. It's a smaller location so they don't have as many screens but still have a decent amount of show times. Although it's smaller, they still have two sets of bathrooms. It's usually pretty clean too. The only complaint I have is sometimes it's a pain to use the elevators when it's busy and you have to wait to leave or enter the theater. read more

I love movies. I love seeing them in the theater. This theater used to be a palace. Now it's terribly run down. The people are still nice, but the place is now gross. They have previews thanking you for being in the theater. But they need to put money into reupholstering the seats and fixing them (many are wobbly or jacked). It also needs to be cleaned more. When we bring the kids, we're dropping $100 on tickets, popcorn and drinks. I can stay home and watch a new movie for much less. (And without the commercials they make you watch). WOW! I attend a lot of movie screenings, and I attended one today at the revamped Emagine Palladium. I hadn't been back to the Palladium since Emagine bought them out and renovated the place. The Palladium used to have all 3-4 floors of the building, but now you enter into a very swanky lobby, and take the elevator to the 4th floor. Once you leave the elevator, the theaters are on the left and their restaurant is on the right. Our theater had recliners (awesome but deadly if your movie is slow, haha ...) and was very nice. I was trying to figure out what stuff they left the same (the bathrooms and concessions are in the same areas, but have been updated and look very nice) and what was different, but most of it is now different. For some reason I had it in my head that it was like $16 for a night movie here, so I've never been - but it's actually $8 for matinees (for adults; $7 for children and seniors) and $12 for a night movie, which is on par with Emagine Royal Oak and AMC John R (both of which also have recliners). I'm liking the updates, Emagine! I will be back soon for a matinee sometime. read more

**Update** Same place, and same problems. I've come back another 2 times since my original review. Seemingly, itching has changed. I arrived 12-15 minutes before my movie with ONE PERSON in front of me, and ONE counter help person answered a thousand F'ing questions for one guest! Meanwhile, another counter person stood behind the counter doing nothing. You can tell she wasn't punched in, but to that I'd say don't stand there. It infuriated me and those behind me seeing this person on her mobile while the line grew increasingly longer. Then while the first employee went to get additional help for Mr. Questions, she didn't offer to help anyone else waiting. I had to approach her and say, "Can you give me my pre-paid tickets, so I don't miss my movie," which at that point previews had already begun. That somehow took another 3 minutes. The only reason this isn't a one star review is bc I finally tried the food. While the pizza is so-so, the chicken quesadilla and Coke Icee are delicious. It's also super cool to have them brought to you after ordering the food from the concession area; although it would have been nice to get plates with the pizza. The question remains, is the above average food worth the stress that comes with everything else and added expense to see a movie at this theater? No. No, it is not. My original review stands (if not being stressed more over bc the same issues happen every time) - if you get free tickets I'd go, but otherwise the staff has not been properly trained to service multiple guests and the management still doesn't know how or where to staff, yet alone properly staff for the day of the week or for special events/dates. I really tried to like it here, but would unfortunately never suggest to anyone to come for any reason. read more

I can only Emagine (see what I did there?) what the owners of the Palladium building must charge for rent, because this theater really takes it out on the customers. Even for Birmingham, $12.50 for a beer is pretty steep. If you're hoping for an all inclusive theater / meal experience, getting out of this place alive for less than $50 bucks is an accomplishment in itself. Who needs the peace and quite of 'Netflix and chill' when you can get out there to 'theater and bill?' Given the laughably high industry pricing standards for basic snacks that you could otherwise sneak in for pennies on the already exuberant theater dollar, it's no surprise that you have to be gainfully employed at the executive level to even see a movie these days. But despite the industry prices, I really have to hand it to Emagine. They provide a truly welcoming experience that somehow keeps me coughing up money for more. After all, once you've tasted the good life, would you really want anything less? And having paired great (and very comfortable) seating with an undeniably powerful audio / visual system, you're in for a treat. (My ears are still ringing from having survived the soundtrack to Blade Runner.) read more

Good Place for a movie... It's clean and I've only had 1 issue in all the years I've been seeing movies at the Palladium... When I saw the most recent edition of the movie Blade Runner there was some crazy guy who kept having full on phone conversations during the movie. I only wish the staff was a little more diligent about peeking in on the movies to make sure everything was kosher. read more

This is a high end theater. Probably the best interior of any theater I have ever frequented --big leather reclining chairs (electronically controlled) that you could fall asleep in. A ton of leg room (almost too much) There are five screens in this complex and they are all on one floor. The screens are a good size. Went to a matinee and it was only $6. I suspect their prices escalate significantly for evening and weekend shows looking at other reviews. Two irritations -- you need to take the elevator to get to this theater - it is on the fourth floor. Not a big deal if it isn't busy but it could be a bit of a wait on busy nights (there are only two elevators). Also, if you recline in the leather seats there is a metal guard rail that blocks out part of the movie screen. Definitely would go again! read more

Wasn't too impressed. Girl working with food was sweeping the floor then touching the computer everyone was touching to order the food after that she pulled out her cell phone and went to the popcorn machine to make popcorn. Being in the healthcare profession and touching your phone an immediate must that you wash your ha da. It's one of the most germ infested items a person owns. She never once washed her hands. Ordered food and waited 30 min. Never was told they were backed up and someone left but overheard two employees discussing it. Cashier didn't seem to know what she was doing and I had to repeat what I want about 4 times before she go what I wanted. Very disappointed. Yes, there's a restaurant attached. Yes, it's an intimate setting, with recliner seats. But it's hard to locate, being in a building without sufficient markings, and it's upstairs, approachable by elevator. Confusing. The sound, the two times I've been here has been too low. The seats are kept clean, and staff is friendly. But if this theater wants more stars, it will need to be more visible and up the sound quality. read more

I love love love this theatre!!! The service is the best, very accommodating. Assigned seating in the most beautiful, clean, comfortable recliners. Ample room in front of me. No sticky floors. Stadium seating so no one's big head is in the way. It is so clean that I feel bad leaving purchased food by the seat so I always throw it away - you should do the same....keep this gem clean please! They will bring food and drinks right to your seat. I reserve my seats ahead of time on my app and it's so convenient. But they will only have 5 movies at a time because there's only that many theatres. And it's in Birmingham, so see a movie and eat at one of the many delish restaurants there! I've been seeing movies in Birmingham have nearly all my life. The recent renovation to the Emagine Palladium theater had me excited about what may have changed or improved since they shut it down to re-brand it and make it smaller. What is left is a poorly designed theater with no customer service. Upon arriving at the theater, you enter a lobby with no people there at all, no staff and screens that don't work. There are 2 elevators to take to the 4th floor, where the theaters are, but only 1 was working with a line of 20 people waiting to go up. When you walk in you feel like you aren't even sure you're at a theater. When you get upstairs, where are kiosks to get your tickets. We print the tickets that we pre-purchased online and found that surprisingly, no one even takes your tickets. There wasn't one person to even check that we purchased anything, we could have walked in and sat anywhere. That is so off-putting to know that there's no security behind spending money on tickets (more money than AMC or MJR theaters mind you), and no one even checks. Off to get some refreshments... the least expensive soda/frozen drink was $5. You could join some VIP club to get it for less I guess, but when they ask you "Are you a member" and you say no... then they looked at us like we were less than special and said, "Okay, $5" - yeah, thanks for making us feel welcome and special. The theaters themselves are nice with recliners that are new and comfortable, there's no complaining there but most theaters today have similar comfortable sating. It is just everything else about the experience... When the movie was over we paraded with everyone else in the full theater to the ONE elevator that was working. It would have taken us a year to get downstairs. Luckily there is a stairway, mind you it is not easily found so you have to go through 2 private rooms to even get there, both of which were dirty and clearly used by employees.
