Specialties
elSage Shop is an independent, woman-owned gift shop and working art studio in downtown Mount Vernon, Washington. Our shop brings together goods from more than 200+ independent makers alongside our own elSage line of apparel and accessories, featuring original artwork that we carve and print by hand right here in the shop.
We’re known for unique, artful gifts you won’t find everywhere else. In the shop you'll see an array of handmade jewelry, art and stationery, clothing, home goods and Pacific Northwest-inspired pieces. We intentionally seek out work from independent artists, women-owned businesses, LGBTQ+ and BIPOC makers, and brands committed to thoughtful, sustainable production.
More than anything, elSage is about celebrating creativity and the people who make things. We want the shop to feel like a place worth discovering: colorful, welcoming, a little unexpected, and full of things with a story behind them.
History
Established in 2010.
I started elSage online from the kitchen table in 2010. In the beginning we were elSage Designs, creating wall art and then wearable art from block prints. In June 2016 we opened our first brick and mortar on N 1st St in downtown Mount Vernon, and that's when it really became what it is now. We worked hard doing many pop up events and markets, selling retail out of the tiny first shop and offering wholesale and custom work.
In 2019 we moved into our current location. The more centrally located location and additional space helped us grow into what we are today. Today we curate from over 200 independent Pacific Northwest makers, so much of what's in the shop comes from someone we actually know and buy from directly. We also run our own screen printing in-house, one color, water based inks, so a good chunk of what you'll find is made right here.
We love being part of downtown Mount Vernon and hope to see you soon!
