I explained my situation: I found the ring I want online and decided after talking with my boyfriend that we'd rather buy local and get better quality on a ring that is supposed to last a lifetime instead of buying it cheap online and getting what we paid for. I asked what is the process to get an estimate on the ring and the sales lady helped me write the email and gave me directions on all the information that was useful as well as what I could leave out and how the process worked. She explained that the owner's wife would receive the email, make the necessary changes in wording, then send it off to their jewelry designer and that I should have an estimate in a few days. Possibly by the end of the week. I got home and found the rest of the information and sent the email off as I was told to and within a few hours (after hours for the business) I received an email stating that they had received my request and thanking me for my interest in their business and reassured that I would receive an estimate in a few days. While this happened recently and I haven't received the estimate yet I can assure you that whether it is the amount we are willing to spend or not I am thoroughly pleased with their service as a business.

I needed a piece of jewelry informally appraised that I may buy from a friend. Wanted to make sure I gave her fair value. These people evidently don't want to bother with you unless you are buying the appraisal or buying from them. They certainly won't be doing the appraisal for my insurance when I do buy this piece.
