What an awesome find and just an hour or so from Halifax. It's only open from May (for the…read moredelightful restaurant) until the end of blueberry picking in September. And it's well worth marking it in your calendar for a wonderful day trip. The restaurant has a fabulous menu - you must try the blueberry poppyseed dressing - on a salad, or chicken - like the smoked chicken quesedilla. They even have a children's menu. But our little ones were too little (not to mention messy) to eat in their beautiful dining room. Not a problem though. There are picnic tables just outside right next to a Koy pond and some of the gazillion blueberry bushes where you can take out a sandwich or bring your own picnic. And speaking about blueberries. This pick-your-own farm is so big, they actually have a big, air conditioned bus to take you around to the best spots to pick and then collects you after you fill up your buckets.

Had an good meal. Appetizer (Tomato soup) was the standout. It was made with fresh tomatoes and was…read moreprobably the best tomato soup I have ever had. The mains were good but my Salmon was a bit overcooked and the Scallops were good but really didn't stand out. The biggest disappointment on the mains was the vegetable stir fry. It was bland and pretty tasteless. I would have preferred to just have some fresh beans steamed. The service was great and the setting is really wonderful. Unless it is really cold or windy I suggest you sit outside. Most people were sitting inside so we had the porch to ourselves and it was definitely the best seat in the house. Overall it is great but I would say that the mains are all almost exactly $10 overpriced. It was about $80 between two of us for appetizers, a main and splitting a desert. One of us also have a glass of wine.

I really like the Moncton Market. Located downtown, it has both outdoor and indoor vendors and…read moreseveral entrances. When we arrived it was extremely crowded, so for someone with social anxiety it was a bit stressful but I'm sure there are times that are not quite as busy which would make it easier. I noticed a lot of unique vendors and questioned a few about vegan options. Besides local produce and craftwares there wasn't a lot of vegan options but I did find a vendor "Red Earth Kitchen" that does gorgeous looking vegan desserts. As well, the area that we first came in seems to have some permanent food vendors. One had veggie springrolls and others had falafel and other middle eastern food that would be vegan. Another vendor from Sackville had some chocolates that were vegan safe and a gentleman selling cupcakes said he normally has vegan cupcakes first thing in the day but they sell out quickly. All and all I think it's an awesome farmer's market and I'd definitely like to visit again.

Whether you're on the hunt for cheese, fish, meat, fowl, baked goods, handcrafts or almost any other thing you can think of - the Moncton Market has it for you. Stop by Wright's Country Bakery for a cinnamon roll - worth the line up! Grab a coffee from Down East Coffee. If you're in a more substantial mood, you have options galore. La Crêperie Robinson tempts you with delectable fillings for crêpes, and Shangrilla provides a heartier fare. (Tip: Shangrilla, along with a few other vendors, also set-up for the lunch-time crowd Wednesday to Friday.) Browse through the crafts and artwork. In season, plants are plentiful and produce abounds. Check out the flower vendors for some truly amazing deals on cut flowers. Because I don't live in Moncton, my visits to the Market are rare. When we visit family, it's a must-see on Saturday mornings. I don't think I'll ever get tired of going to the Market!
