But my boyfriend said that he would take dance classes only under general anesthesia. Saddened, I thought "What dance would be elegant and beautiful, but wouldn't require a partner?". After a short search, I came across Aurora Reyes' classes at Flamenco Latino and it was exactly what I was looking for. Flamenco is unlike other dance types in that it has a long learning curve. But once you get a knack for it, you could dance any sort of dance style. After just one hour of classes, my wellbeing and mood is greatly improved, from 0 to 10 on some days. I never imagined that I would be dancing to the accompaniment of 8 live guitars. Aurora is an amazing dancer and singer - musical instrument in form of woman! Thank you Aurora, I will go to your classes indefinitely, as long as you have me! Note: this listing currently has the former location of the dance school - it's now inside of the Cultural Creative Center at 147 Christopher St in West Village.

It is great having Basilio play and sing for the classes and is great training for recitals. I highly recommend. I have taken classes with several people and Aurora remains the best!

Learning how to dance is one thing, but learning how to salsa is another. This group does more than…read moreteach people how to move, they empower and create community through salsa ... in Queens. Founded by Jean Franco Vergaray nearly 10 years ago, their studio is based in Astoria / Long Island City, where they host events and teach a variety of variety of classes from salsa to bachata to tango. Whether it's getting active, meeting people, or just trying something new, this is the ultimate group endeavor. They have a number of instructors, all of whom are warm, professional, and full of enthusiasm. They work with folks of all levels, from beginners to advanced dancers. Monthly memberships are offered and most classes are around 90 minutes each. I highly recommend checking out their social events and consider utilizing their services for something interesting and active.

My husband and I have been wanting to take salsa dance classes for a while, so we were super…read moreexcited when a friend told us about this place! First, it's very affordable! It's around $120 for 4 weeks of classes and each class is an hour and a half long. That's a pretty sweet deal, if you ask me! Next, it's important to know that they have a class schedule that is updated monthly. They offer both salsa and bachata classes and different levels for each one. They have 5 different levels of salsa classes and 2 different levels of bachata classes. So whatever your skill level currently is, you should be able to find a class that works for you! Also, you don't need to have a partner to attend! The class starts by teaching the basic steps as individuals. When it's time for partner work, they have us start with a partner but then we rotate partners throughout the room! That said, if you're wanting a class where you stick with the same partner the entire time, this ain't it. However, if you're looking for a fun time, this is DEFINITELY it! Our instructor, Felipe, has been doing a fantastic job of teaching us! He's got a fun personality, which makes the experience that much better. Oh! They also have social dance nights each month, which you can attend whether or you're not you're a current student for a set price. Anyways, I'm excited to keep learning and taking more classes here! Hopefully you'll feel the same too.

I have seen people work so hard and really grow in short amounts of time here (one of those people are me ). I have been able to grow as an absolute beginner adult (I took ballet, jazz and tap for maybe a year or two when I was a child, but it was no longer affordable so I stopped). I have not only learned foundational vocabulary and techniques in the absolute beginner intensive offered by Suzana and her amazing teachers and students (worth every dollar and drop of sweat haha!), but I have become absolutely obsessed about Classical Ballet and its history! As a Queens native, I love how convenient the location of this studio is, as opposed to traveling somewhere out in Manhattan twice a week. Wildheart Studio has a very cozy feel to it, and inspirational quotes and pictures surround the walls of the studio. I love being challenged physically and mentally here (I've been going for 6 months now), but the best part is having the support of people who dance bravely, make mistakes openly, and shine brightly beside me. Thank you so much Wildheart Studio, Suzana, Gina and all my dear classmates and friends ! You are all inspiring to watch and I feel so lucky to dance with you every week
