Had a leak at the curb, Elmers fixed it but 3 weeks later it failed, Elmers quickly got a tech here same day and fast, fixed it better and correctly this time and completely honored the warranty with no additional charge. Elmers is an honorable company that kept to its word and I greatly appreciate that. Thank you so much Paul and Max! A+ and 5-stars. read more

First I want to thank them for coming out on the weekend when I couldn't get in touch with my extended warranty company for water heater leak! They did a good job on removing and replacing the water heater. Wish I wasn't in such a panic to get it repaired and couldn't think to call a couple friends to get advice. Long story short I found out I got charged 4 times the amount to purchase and replace my water heater without an extended warranty. After talking to a couple of neighbors and my freinds who had the same problem and found out how much they paid to get theirs removed and replaced, I feel so embarrassed that I didnt keep my composure and and seek advise from my family and friends like I always do. Big lesson learned! Find reputable techs and connections before emergencies happen! read more

My Technician, Mark, provided me with knowledge on how to apply vinegar to my system to help prevent clogging of my AC pipe that drains into my bathroom sink. doing this preventative maintenance task can help keep my system running smoothly without any problems....an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Everything they say the won't do on the commercials...they will do. After they get your money they act like you're bothering them when you request a service call, an ac they put in and then ripped out two days later to put a new one in. my new AC unit was installed by them 4 years ago and cost me way too much, at first they honored work that should've been done i have had them out 5 or 6 times in 4 years and it's always an upsell and they carefully pick the words they use to describe problems. I finally got ahold of my friend who does AC work and he said an AC needs to be cleaned out annually and that's all I needed on a 4 year old unite. he said they were just trying to sell me stuff I didn't need. Elmer's really sucks and I hate that they talked me into a repair before a new unit installation. The total I spent on the harassment of Elmer's is 25000 and my friend fixed my unit and cooled my house for 300 with a good cleaning. read more

They charged me $800 just to drain the ac furnace pan. It took them under 5 minutes to do this basic task. Use them if you want to pay $4,800 per hour for menial labor and then be forced into a contract for a basic task. They even attempted to push us into a very long term warranty contract with a monthly rate that over the term would've cost significantly more than buying and installing multiple new ac units. I couldn't do it myself as I was hundreds of miles away and the tenants didn't want to touch it. They knew I couldn't bring others in to drain the pan because the tenants wanted it done immediately. I work in sales and have seen lots of scummy sales tactics (have always avoided those companies) and these guys take things to another level with how they package things and lie. They'll take advantage of you. read more

My husband called Elmer Home Services when our AC went out, but the experience was disappointing. The technician wasn't able to identify the issue right away and instead pushed for several "extensive tests," each costing around $450 or more. He presented three different pricing options just to test the system, and then suggested replacing the entire unit for $289/month. What I wanted was a straightforward repair, but it felt more like a sales pitch for expensive add-ons and payment plans. Suddenly, the costs escalated to $1,300 and $2,300 for replacing copper piping, along with analogies that felt more like a pushy sales tactic than honest service. He also claimed we needed 18 lbs of Freon at $225 + $25/lb, and even said our AC was too small for our house. Overall, the visit felt more like dealing with a pushy car mechanic than a trusted home service provider. I reached out to Elmer because of their "we fix it" message, but what I got was pressure to spend thousands instead of a clear, fair solution. All in all we paid almost $500 just for him to tell us we needed a new ac unit. read more

Holy ratas y garrapatas Batman! Lets just start this story at approximately 3 years ago. Called these cats up for a clogged clothes washer drain. Once they showed up butt crack joebob showed up and said we could not snake the drain from the normal spot and needed to brake open some sheetrock and concrete to cut a line in the drain to auger the sucker. Well knowing a bit about plumbing myself, i ask about snaking the dring from the roof. Well joebob took a step back as he was not expecting that i knew what i was talking about. So after he gathered his thoughts he responded that it would cost about $400-$600 to do that. Now i myself took a step back because that was an insane amount of money for that. Then after i gathered my thoughts i asked joebob how much replacing a water heater would cost and he responded around $1,400. I politely said thank you and would not be using his services. The cost for almost getting robbed was $65 for the visit. It was the best $65 i ever spent. It prompted me to youtubes the work and save thousands from hiring this company. And my work is still good all these years later too. read more

Called Elmer for a leak. Dug it out, had it prepared for repair. MIchael arrived I showed him the leak told him I would back fill it with sand and the dirt all I needed was the repair. He then began checking my water pressure which was at 85, which I was already aware of... then I told him I just needed the leak fixed. He seemed indignation and did some calculations on his phone and told me it would be 550.00 for the simple repair. I payed the $59.00 service charge and sent them on their way. Did the work myself. Doubt I will ever use or recommend Elmers again. They also showed up outside the 11-2 windows promised by dispatch. read more

!!!!!!! BUYERS beware!!!!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ELMERS! i purchase a brand new HVAC unit with air ducts replaced and since the day of install we have had nothing but issues the last three years! I have done MY PART as a homeowner to schedule my routine maintenance! First winter in my hvac system was not warming up our house, first summer it wasn't cooling up the house and we had guests over for my daughters birthday that time so you can imagine what we have endured with this company we purchased portable units ourselves to avoid this from happening again! Turns out they found the unit had a RECALL!!! instead of replacing the whole unit they replaced "PARTS" to me seems like they put a bandaid on a bad unit overall! Now we're 2026 and they're saying my unit is not covered under warranty!!! The condenser coil went out they're claiming it was due to the dogs urinating but how is this my fault when their technicians FAILED to mention or notice any rust upon inspection of each visit and they would only be here for 10 to 15 min tops!! This whole HVAC system cost me $25,000 and I'm still paying on it and i still owe $18k on it and it's not going to get covered??!! HOWWW!!!! when my paperwork states otherwise and i as a homeowner acted responsibly it's not my job to inspect these technicians to make sure they're doing their job!!! Now they're saying $6500 to replace coil condenser when the guy on Sunday said $1800 for labor now today they want to replace my whole unit with no warranty for $1900?! Next step what should I do? read more

Bad Experience with Elmer's Billing and other Practices. Customers Beware I woke on Tuesday 12/02 and went outside to find i had a water leak near my house. I went and shut the water off at the main and waited until some companies opened. I made two phone calls and both companies I selected couldn't give me a quote until they found the leak. I went with Elmers because they Installed my HVAC system back in 2023. I'm a bit OG and have done maintenance my whole life, including for SAHA and Bexar County. Now I'm a bit worn and now aged enough for social security. For the record, my bodies tired but I haven't lost my sanity. Continuing, Elmers tech and I were in 100% agreeance on the general vicinity of where the leak is coming from. Im told I needed to have my sidewalk removed to verify before a quote can be given for the repair. This is where it gets a bit shady with Elmers Home Services and EVERYBODY should be aware of the practices they use. I'm told they will send out their subcontractor to get the concrete removed. Were talking about 2 squares totaling 36 Sq feet. They work with them exclusively and will ensure they will be out right away. Price: $525.00 (and we don't make any money off of this). If you do the math that's more than 2X the going rate if your paying high dollar to get two squares removed. I'm like well I need this done and done today so lets go with it. Flag #1 was when I'm told you pay me (Elmers) first for our contractors services. I didn't know why they manage their subcontractors money but ok, i'll roll with this. They showed during the last 10 minutes of the time window and arrived right around 1pm. Props to them they worked hard and by 3pm they were wrapping it all up. I specifically asked about the pile of concrete they set against my neighbors house. They said they would get it when they finish the job and pour the concrete. I told them their company needs to throw a bid in on the pouring because i know i didn't pay enough for new concrete too. They said they'd be back. Flag #2: I asked for information for their company but wasn't provided anything so I can reach out to the business owner. Around 4:30 Elmers shows up again. Turns on the water and we see right where the waters coming up. The tech digs out a 16' wide times maybe a foot deep by 2 foot long hole and we see that the issue is a failed connection exactly where the PVC mates with the House Copper on the PVC side. To cut to the chase, im offered 4 or 5 options, the cheapest being a "Band-aid" fix for over $1000 with other options up to over $7000, and of course a EZ finance payment plan with a high interest for everything. . So yeah, realize with their own words, your not getting a repair anymore, right there in their electronic tablet, it lets you pick their $1000 band aid fix. That was my Flag #3, So I'm like, Bro that's way too much money to fix this issue. That's not even $15 worth of parts. Initially i said im not paying that much, and you all have to do better with the numbers and would have normally walked away, but I get told "I already started the job with the "excavation". (I'm like Ohh SNAP! they started the job without telling me they started the job or giving me a quote). Right here is where I have to call out the practices that Elmers does. They know its late afternoon, They know my family is getting home from school and work my sons taking a leak in the back yard and My wife's telling me get it done. We cant just bail to a hotel and leave our pets home. I Bit the bullet and signed. and then top it all off with telling me the jobs started before I got the quote. really Really Really bad business practices. I did ask and get a discount out of him and I think the tech felt some sort of compassion and got me a cover and ball valve (tho the wrong kind of cover that i will install). I asked again and never got the name of their subcontractor. soooo... Next days (Wednesday) comes and still no invoices in my email. They've had my info for years now because I have warranties with them. I get hold of and talk with Elmers at 10 am and ask about the invoices, the subcontractors info and the cleanup of debris. Elmers cannot provide me with the invoice for the $525.00 that they took (guess what it shows in my bank info I paid Elmers twice). I was told someone would get right back to me. Its Thursday 04 Dec now, Its been 24 hours and still not another invoice and not a call. I'm gonna move forward with this of course but everyone needs to be aware of Elmers. I just hope my complaining doesn't affect the quality of the active warranty and inspection work i have associated with Elmers already. Bottom line, beware of Elmers and take your money elsewhere. In closing, I cant blame the Plumbing Technician, the young mans good at his job, polite and most likely following corporate policies and pricing im sure. read more

We now know Elmers does not care to help you if you have any problems after you purchased from them. Unless you spend alot of money. When the sale guy comes you literally have to pay for the highest price package they have for you!. If you don't again you won't have priority if you have a problem with your AC. You have to pay to have priority. Then beware they won't care afterwards. If we buy with you then you should treat us all the same no matter how much we spent. I understand why you have pink trucks, and my dad passed away due to cancer. We thought ya'll were going to be a company that cares. We have had 2 things done through ya'll. Ya'll actually just care about the sell, and not what's in the best interest of your customers. You really outsmarted a 76 yr old lady! Not cool by no means. Nothing but issues and frustration, avoid at all cost. We bought our new AC "package" and were lied to every step of the way. Even with attempts to "make it right" they are constantly lying or finding things that should have been done initially. They've discontinued services (that we were promised when we paid for it) and didnt tell us, we had to call and find out what was going on after we weren't being contacted about our pest control visit or scheduling our 6 month maintenance. Even most recently ive spent over an hour on the phone trying to confirm a warranty appointment time slot because we have to take off work to be there, and they kepe getting the wrong time slot that I have told them we will not be available. A total scam from start to finish. Their website says 24/7 but they are closed on weekends. I called on Saturday and an answering service company picks up the call but says we can't make an appointment until Monday. On Monday a technician comes out and makes it sound like repairs can be completed on Monday so I pay 50% up front. After paying, we are told repairs would start the next day. So I was mislead just so they could get their money. Then Elmer's kept pushing back our appointment time. By the end of the day two, the AC was still not fixed. The technician said it was a two person job so he would not be able to complete it that day. The next day, we find out this was NOT true. The new technician said he could do it alone, a one man job. To clarify, they lied to us. By now we are on our third Elmer's technician and he says he doesn't have the part he needs since the problem was misdiagnosed by the first and second Elmer's technician. Now they are saying we need a new control board. However, we told them on Monday that we thought we would need a new control board. So despite us pointing out the problem for them on day one, it took them three business days to figure it out. Elmer's made me put a credit card on file before any work would be done and by the third day they were making UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES to my credit card. Charges were not approved, not signed for. No work was done to explain these charges. AC still is not working as of right now. They have no idea when they will get the part we need and they have no estimate of when it will be installed. read more

So I have used Elmer's about three times now. The first time they came out I signed up for their Comfort Plus service which includes two annual maintenance appointments, dispatched fee waived, and 10% off all repairs. That was probably the BEST thing you could sign up for! The second time I called to schedule an appointment, their dispatch was calling before I got off the phone with the intake person! Ebber and Robert came out, they were great! Very knowledgeable, gave my system a full check, fixed the problem and since I was a Comfort Plus member there was NO CHARGE!!! I had them out again today to look at my duct work. Rick came out to look at my system and he was super helpful in my selection of the best option for me and my family. The work was done on the same day and it was such an easy process! I would recommend Elmer to all my friends. Bought a new HVAC with a 5 year maintenance service every 6 months. It's been 6 months and haven't heard from them. Call them up and they say they've eliminated the maintenance team that kept up with the maintenance contracts so now it's up to the homeowners to just call and book appointments. Their next available maintenance appointment is in 4 months... They sold a maintenance program/guarantee without having a team to actually perform the maintenance... This is the most unethical and unscrupulous business I have ever dealt with. I entered into a service contract for annual maintenance and service for plumbing, electrical and AC. The first visit was for the plumbing service (they only check your water heater). Right of the bat I was told that I needed a new water heater and was quoted from over one thousand to over four thousand for a new water heater; first red flag. My water heater is barely 8 years old, and it is working fine. Two weeks ago, I had my AC serviced. The technician recommended a treatment for the pan to avoid clogging which cost $121.00 (membership price). After he was done, I asked him what the treatment and he showed me a bottle of tablet. I searched for the product online and found a bottle of 200 tablets for $30 on Amazon. Stay away from Elmer's, they are not about good service but about making money by ripping people off. I canceled my service contract and going with a more reputable and honest company. BTW, my AC went out after being serviced two weeks ago, makes me wonder. read more

I contacted this company to inspect my AC after it stopped working, mainly because of their radio commercials that emphasized honesty and treating customers like family. Michael, the technician who first came out, seemed sincere, and my AC--though 20 years old--was still running strong. Michael inspected the unit and diagnosed a faulty blower motor. At the time, I was dealing with personal and work-related emergencies and unfortunately wasn't able to do the proper research. I was charged $5,055.19 for the blower motor replacement--an outrageous price considering that $1,500 is already considered the high end for such a repair. After reviewing the situation, I was incredibly disappointed. I feel taken advantage of during a vulnerable moment. In my opinion, this company is not honest and does not have the best interests of San Antonio residents at heart. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Just another greedy company. read more

Terrible customer service/warranty My old A/C unit stopped working and needed to be repaired. I called Elmer's to fix it and they gave me a long list of things that needed to be fixed. They suggested I buy one of their new units that come with 10 year warranty to have peace of mind. I was hesitant at first because of how expensive a new unit is. But decided to get it. They installed the unit the same day. After 9 days the unit stopped running. Elmers came out and "fixed" the problem. The very next day it stopped running again. That's twice in 10 days. They came out and "fixed" it again. They emailed me a copy of the work order showing that it was overcharged with almost twice as much refrigerant. Now I've tried contacting their office, the sales rep, and project manager. and nobody will hold up their end of the warranty. Once you buy the unit the warranty and customer service go out the window. Buyer beware!! read more

A few weeks ago, I bought into the $129 service which included cleaning the coils and other parts. I have two A/C systems so paid the cost and signed up for two more visits before December 2024. The total cost was about $550.00. Last week two roofers were up in the attic preparing for a roof placement and found one system had its cover pieces totally open. I was losing cold air like a sieve. They said it appeared that the Elmer's tech could have easily seen the problem. I have no idea why this was not addressed. I request that the money I paid for the two followup visits be returned to me. I am not impressed with Elmer's. FORGET THE HYPE! read more

Last year I utilized Elmer's to service my A/C. I was happy with the outcome and left a favorable review. This week they came out to inspect our furnace, took numerous photos, inspected our ducts, and presented the price for the entire job. The price seemed incredibly high. I researched what the cost with other companies and determined it was indeed too expensive. We had another company come out who did a thorough inspection for the same job. Their total cost was $13,649 cheaper than Elmer's. I failed to read Elmer's Yelp reviews before hand which would have raised a red flag. Also, the Better Business Bureau has numerous complaints as well. It's clear now that Elmer's primary mission is to heavily overcharge for their services and rip people off, especially the elderly. I had a one-year HVAC membership contract with Elmer's Home Services for preventive maintenance (PM), and they never showed up once to check on my system--until yesterday, at the very end of the contract. Instead of addressing the lack of service, they used the visit to pitch me on renewing my membership. When I confronted my account representative about this, she dismissed my concerns and suggested waiting until the end of January 25 for a resolution (today is December 24). She made excuses about their communication practices, claiming they only send invoices by email and do not use email for correspondence or appointment scheduling. However, I have call logs showing they never attempted to contact me, and they didn't even leave a voicemail if I wasn't reachable. The lack of accountability and failure to fulfill the agreed-upon services are unacceptable. I cannot recommend Elmer's Home Services and will never use them again. System recharge by Elmers was going to cost 3x what my previous A/C company charged. So I said no way, and found a local company that did the same work for 1/7 of what Elmers was going to charge. Just be aware. Also... Elmers was at my home for nearly four hours. The company that got my system cooling? They were here for 30 minutes. *note added 6/3/2024*: Also note that yes, Elmers did an extensive system evaluation (which cost me the service visit fee) complete with pictures and said they'd send the whole "report" to me so I could look at my options with my wife, and figure out what we wanted to do (they never sent me ANYTHING). The gold option (or whatever they called it) was to spend like $32,000 on a full system upgrade. Of course, the only numbers I was shown were the monthly payments, and I had to have them switch the view to the "total" costs. I felt like I was at a car dealership in my own home, especially when the tech at my house called "one of the head guys" and had the three of us all on speaker. Not at all what their radio commercials implied. But they sure made it a point that they could work with the pricing. That should tell you *everything* you need to know. read more

My home AC stopped working overnight and I called this company to come out and repair my issue. They are the "new guy in town" and I thought I'd give them a shot based on the radio advertising. I have a 13-year-old AC system. After the "technician" did everything he did, including lots of pictures, he went out to his van and sat there for exactly one hour. What he was doing for an hour, who knows. When he finally returned to my house, he showed me many pictures and started laying out several plans with monthly payments. I told him I was not interested in his payment plans and I wanted to know what it would take to get me up and running NOW. He said he would need a senior technician for that because my compressor was out. Payments... Turn to Senior Technician... It felt a lot like buying a car (you have to talk to the sales manager). I got the "senior technician" scheduled to come to the house later in the day. I did not feel good about my interactions with the initial salesman/technician. I called another company, and they evaluated my system, and it WAS NOT the compressor. It was a capacitor. MUCH DIFFERENT ISSUE. Elmer's boss came to our house and promised to reimburse us for the incredible damage they did. In 2019, Elmer's put the flange below the tile when installing new toilets with new flange. It finally leaked through the ceiling of a hall bathroom. The boss is going back and forth with my subrogation company, not paying anything. I felt good when the boss made that promise. Now, because they won't pay like the boss said they would, I received a letter that I will lose my insurance if I file another claim in the future. What good is insurance when you get a letter like that because Elmer won't own up to what they did to us. They put toilets in wrong but said there was only damage from one. We shall see when I take up the tile in the other bathroom. Because they will not pay, this shows as us not maintaining our home. Elmer's has done a few jobs in my home, plumbing and AC Most of the time we were completely disappointed On one occasion the plumbers left because they were allergic to my cat Leaving the work only partially done The shower piece was too small I told them than once but they really didn't care It took 4 visits just to get it working again They made a huge whole in the wall to get to the pipes, even though there was an access door to the pipes The whole is way too big for the small job they did Again, Elmer's did not care a damn The last and final job we let them do was a replacement of 55 feet of outgoing water pipes They sent, two drunk diggers the first day The next day was a group of men who used a small digger to pull all of my topsoil off That was put in a pile closest to the street A truck picked it all up and took it While they kept digging they hit my tree dozens of times, with the machine They broke a limb that hangs over my house I called Elmer's and Paul Galvan, the project manager, told me "TREES ARE STRONGER THAN YOU THINK" Thats it!!!! That's the bullshit answer he gave me I called many times to speak with management and no one would take responsibility I paid $30,000.00 for this half-ass job I complained until I was sick of complaining I believe that's their MO I don't believe there is even an Elmer around I think that guy booked with the cash I'm sick of these men taking advantage of women The main manager called and asked me .." What exactly did they promise you when you signed the contract?" I couldn't believe that such a big company would have such terrible management, workers and third party workers I did forget to mention that the diggers didn't come with a generator They keep plugging into the house power They blew the power 7 times before I told them to get a generator He asked me if I had an alternative power source hooked up the the house I have never heard of such a thing I looked it up There is no such thing in SA The short of it is that ELMERS IS A CROOKED BUSINESS WHO DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS SEEN THROUGH THE SHITTY WORK DONE THAT THEY DO AND THEIR HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT Les than one star read more

We purchased a new AC unit 5 years ago and every year the system breaks down at beginning of the summer. The first 2 years there was prompt response and that went away. Every year it's the same issue; excess condensation. We should not be having these issues on a new unit. The issue is not resolve for long term. The last 2 times I have requested a call from the supervisor without a response. I'm still wait for a call right now.
