Trail map for trailhead near Champlin Ice arena

Love the variety offered in this park. Wonderful place for on leash dog walking. (There is a dog park too, but we haven't tried that.) Many options for hiking from a short trek with easy terrain lasting about 1.9 miles to longer trails more like 5 miles. Plentiful parking near most of the trails, historical sites, a mountain bike path, horses trails, and thousands of acres to play. Definitely worth a visit!

Looks like a park with everything, except the snow was so deep the hiking trails were closed for skiers. I still found an area to hike along the road to cleared trail. There are multiple places to park and a host of winter activities such as tubing which elicits screams heard throughout the park.

Offering 4,900 acres, Elm Creek is the largest park in the Three Rivers Park District. It is a free park to enter (some things do have a nominal fee/pass/permit, as snow tubing, x-country skiing, snowmobiling, horseback riding, swimming pond pass, etc). We bike here since the trails are scenic and we can relax along the way or have a snack under a friendly tree on a picnic table.

I am not from around and already a huge fan of this trail. I am visiting friends for a weekend and this is right opposite to where they live. On the first glance you'l know right away that this is a huge forest reserve. This one had a very big bike trail(I was told something around 15 miles), Ofcourse shared by people who is here for a run/hike/walk/picnic etc. Guessing by the signs, looks like there are few spots where you can actually ski. Consists of multiple loops/small trails if you want to walk or hike, both paved and unpaved. I've also located few picnic spots and the scenery at places is quiet refreshing and amazing. A very pleasant get away from the everyday noise, surprisingly you won't even hear any traffic once you are inside(depends how far you are away from the road). The main trail splits into small loops, you'll be fine if you can keep track of these. There's also a dog park as well multiple parking spots across the way based on which side of the trail you are accessing it(I used the one at intersection of Territorial and Fernbrook).

This park is amazing! They have a great amount of parking which makes life easy, and it's free. And there is multiple places for parking depending where you are in the park. The trials are great here. They are well paved and are great length. When I was here last time I walked a total of 8 miles on the trails! The views can be beautiful and the nature is great to walk around in. The paths can be for walking and biking. They have some nature centers and have many different programs associated with them. They also have disc golf and mountain biking trails as well as a place for archery. There is many things to do here so every time you come, you will never be bored. If you haven't come here before, definitely come check it out, on a beautiful day, this is a great place to be!

We don't get out this way that often, but since we were driving through we decided to stop and let our little guy get out and run around. We didn't know the playground was that far into the park, but eventually found it. On Mother's Day it was packed with people picnicking and playing on the cool playground structure. There are a ton of cool things to play on. Slides Sandbox Hammock Cargo nets Ladybugs, bumblebees and so much more. Our son loved it and loved running down the colored matted hills and climbing around the smaller kid area. Really a wonderful, fun and interactive playground. Not sure we would make the trek back, but will definitely stop on the way in or out of town. Bathrooms had a super long line, only to realize it's like a icky port a john in the floor. Oh well I guess all the funds went to the playground equipment. Lots and lots of tables, picnic tables in the sun and shade. Nice paths for biking and walking etc.

Went to visit this park after spotting online. Super clean grounds and swim pond. Staff was friendly and welcoming, finished our visit with a trip to the park area, so fun! My 5 and 7 yr old loved it, such a variety of equipment for all ages. Will be returning!

Beautiful setting...not too crowded either

A grand get away. From the rigors of the city...winter, spring, summer and colorful autumn.

This is hands down my favorite dog park. Now with that being said, I'm giving it only 4 stars…read morebecause of the lack of a clean water for the dogs to run in. Sure, the creek is right there, but it's not in the dog park. But honestly, why quibble? This place is great! Each loop on the side sandy/icy track (depending on the season) is a 1/2 mile trek and a great way to get your way steps in as your hound does the same. Crowd wise it always varies. I've been there early where I'm the only one and the hound is running everywhere sniffing and pissing on all as he gets a sensory overload. Other times not only is the hound running everywhere sniffing and pissing on all, he's also playing with the other hounds that are there. And he yes, he's getting his ass sniffing on. There are two gates. trash cans at each location. Plus sometimes cans are located around the main loop along with that occasional picnic table where us out of share humans can sit. Water is brought in by volunteers (from home during the summer months) along with mailboxes situated to easily grab a plastic bag to pick up after your hound. But honestly, the main reason this place is so amazing (s/b a five star review but we don't every asshole showing up) is the fact that there are volunteers who work with the county, donate personal resources, along with their own time to make this place so great. Don't believe me? Go to their FB page as there is a real community about this place. Oh! One last thing. When it's cold, and that wind blows from the west across the open field and where you walk, you will feel it. Also, there are times when that same loop can be incredibly icy so be careful.

We really loved this dog park! Parking was great. There is a little short walk to the entrance of…read morethe park. The park itself is great, they have a great system of making sure all of the dogs have enough water with a watering station, lots of water jugs, and even a water wagon to help transport the full jugs to the park. Make sure you grab a full water jug when you go walking around the park to help out and fill up the various bowls around the walking path. There are also lots of grocery bags in the mail boxes!
