They said it's the worst job they've seen in years Team completed job and caused damage to my property that I will now have to pursue in small claims court. Refuses to provide a full refund, and now I have to spend more to fix his botched job. He continued to assure me that he is licensed, without providing the license number, and no license is listed under his name or company in the Florida database. Gave me some sob story before I signed the contract about how a family member recently died. Similar to the other reviews claiming he's a scammer. Has now blocked my communications for a refund, so I will need to file a police report, pursue in small claims, and report him to state licensing entity so that they can pursue criminal charges. Told me "good luck" before blocking me after I said I am pursuing in small claims court. Pictures attached of the job. He didn't neutralize chemicals used on driveway properly, creating white stains. The first day I spoke with Stan I explained to him what had happened. He made it a point to come out right away. We discussed the job that I wanted, I explained I was parking a motor home on the newly widened area and he said he will add more material to help hold the weight of the truck. He gave a few pointers which was appreciated and we agreed on a fair price. He advised me he was a couple of weeks out from getting it done and would be in contact. Stan, like he said, contacted me on several occasions and kept me updated on my service date. The day came and his crew was early (perfect in my opinion) and they got to work. They were very respectful with my property and were very hard workers. I checked on my ring camera to see how the progress was going and each time I couldn't have been more pleased. The final product came out excellent. Thank you Stan for being upfront, reliable and for having an excellent crew that did an amazing job. Highly recommend!

First let me say I really hate leaving negative reviews. The owner was nice enough but didn't do…read morewhat was agreed upon. He was supposed to install a sleeve under the driveway so that electric and water can be run to the other side but it "slipped his mind" and he "forgot". He offered to dig one in after the fact but said my new driveway would look like he filled a pot hole after the sleeve was patched over. What he should have done was offer to put one in then put a thin coat of asphalt over the entire driveway so it would blend and still look new in the event he was unable to match the asphalt. The driveway is also uneven in places, has thin areas and thick areas and small dips in it, mainly where they used a blowtorch. But worse, they got asphalt on my siding and he said he'd come back and look at it but never came back again. I gave him every chance to fix what needed to be fixed according to what we agreed to do when I paid him. Silly me forgot to make sure the sleeve was explicitly stated in the quote - I wouldn't be leaving this review but handling the matter in small claims since he didn't want to correct it. His quote came in less than his competitors, but as the old adage says "what's cheap is expensive". Now I have to pay someone else even more money to put in a sleeve where the driveway meets the road which will make the project more than the highest quote for the job. Thanks, Dave for saying you'll do a great job I'll be happy with than not making good on your promise. ETA. I don't appreciate being called a liar. He forgets we texted and I have receipts (not included). We last spoke on April 17. He says he'd come "next week" but never came. I left the review on May 3. He had the opportunity to return. He just chose not to. Maybe that "slipped his mind" too. But thanks for the rude response. Now I have in writing what was not included in the contract - that we agreed the price quoted would include a sleeve. So now I have the proof I need to take him to court to recoup the costs of having to put it in after the fact. Hope he marks his calendar when he gets the court notice and not let it "slip his mind" to show up. Note: I never complained about the shape of the driveway. The only thing discussed about the shape was the driveway curving out when it meets the road. I made no mention of that in this review, and how does that have anything to do with getting asphalt on my siding and neglecting to put in the sleeve? Dave had 3D rendering of exactly what I wanted. Typical deflection. Very disingenuous of him to attempt to flip the script and make his incompetence my fault. This person is a horrible person. Stay away.

Their pricing was similar to the competitors, but what set them apart was that they offered unlimited pier depth per section. Other companies had limits--for example, up to 20 feet, then an additional charge per foot after that. I'm glad I went with Groundworks because several of my piers ended up going 90 feet deep across 16 sections. With another company, that could have cost me significantly more. I also had their gutter guard system installed (similar to a French drain, though they claim it's better), along with a vapor barrier and mold treatment. I will say, if you have a serious mold issue, I'd recommend hiring a dedicated mold remediation company instead. I did have an issue with the mold spray, but after calling a couple of times, I was able to speak with a manager who surprisingly took my concerns seriously and resolved the issue. The salesman who came to my house, Randy S., was excellent--very thorough and knowledgeable. He always answered my calls and would text be back in a reasonable timeframe. One thing I didn't like was the same-day discount tactic. They present you with a price, then offer 10% off (or whatever discount they choose) if you sign that day. It puts pressure on you to make a major decision on the spot, which is difficult when you're spending over $50,000. There is a three-day cancellation window, but some people may see the discount as more of a sales tactic than a real benefit. I also want to mention the foreman on the job, Jose G. He was great--he answered all of my questions and even let me watch and learn a little while they were working. Overall, I was very pleased with the experience. Their warranty is transferable, which is a nice bonus, and hopefully I won't have any more issues going forward.

Eric, the owner of Riptide Contracting seems too busy chasing Hurricane Sandy dollars to care about…read morethe quality of his work or keeping a respectable business relationship with paying clients. In total, my wife and I have spent upwards of $80,000+ with Riptide Contracting and everything was fine until the very last job, which was to install a fence. Eric knew there were problems with the fence and said he would talk to me in person and visit the property to look at the fence he installed however after close to a month he has done neither and rarely returns any communication. Prior to me trying to get Eric to the house or even a phone call for a month, he did visit the property once to fix some of the problems but still left the remaining broken so In my opinion he was well aware of the condition of the fence he installed. Eventually the problems became worse b/c he never fixed them and continued to ignore my methods of communication. When I was was able to get a few text messages from Eric, instead of asking questions or trying to find a solution he instead lied to me about multiple things. I also contacted the fence manufacturer with my problem with photos and they said the fence was installed incorrectly. Riptide Contracting charges a high premium, often 2x more than other contractors in the area but I was willing to pay because he appeared interested in getting the job done right and other people had great reviews about him. A lot of the problems with my fence could have easily been avoided if Eric wasn't learning on the job at my expense and I don't think a veteran, local contractor would have made the same mistakes. Someone with experience would have simply picked up the phone and found a solution with the customer. I'm not a contractor but the first things I noticed/checked on the fence were done incorrectly such as putting concrete around wooden posts that were set in sand. Now I will have to fix things myself or hire another contractor and pay out of pocket just to keep the condition of the fence from getting worse. Customers might not always be right but they do have a voice and if Riptide Contracting is interested in maintaining a reputable business within this community behavior like this needs to stop. There are a lot of 5-star ratings on this website and I was previously one of them so I'll finish my review with 'if things seem too good to be true ..... than they probably aren't (true)." In being fair, Eric did spot a lot of problems w/the original construction of our house which could have resulted in lots of water damage if he didn't fix them however I honestly have to question all of the 'things that needed to be fixed' simply b/c he has always been quick to point out errors by others yet fixing a fence and responding to my texts and voicemails was something he put a lot of effort into (avoiding things). I tried to remain patient as possible and kept telling myself he was too busy and eventually would return a call or voicemail but seeing him driving 2 blocks from my house, multiple times over 2 consecutive weekends makes it obvious he doesn't want to accept any responsibility for something he did wrong no matter small or large.
