Very disappointing customer service, dispassionate attitude.
Delivered frame and fork 18th December 2017 expecting a 6-8 week turn around as specified on the website. I chose Ellis Briggs as their website purported traditional values and excellent customer service.
March 9th work complete and final payment including additional delivery cost paid same day.
Then nothing, the phone in the shop wasn't working and e mails went unanswered.
March 21st I sent an email via the website contact, I received a response from Paul the following day, apology and assurance frame would be sent that day along with a tracking reference. I was even offered compensation, but this wasn't my motivation I just want my frame so I declined.
Again quiet, no contact, no tracking number, no frame. I sent a further email on March 28th which went unanswered.
I called the shop on March 29th to be told the bike was still in the shop it hadn't been collected by the courier, Paul believed this may be due to the shop move, when asked if he had spoken with the courier to rectify this, he hadn't, apparently; "been up to my neck". Paul was unable to offer any other excuse and again made assurances the bike would go that day, there was a mumbled apology which lacked anything genuine.
It's a real shame that history and values on which this shop has been built aren't being taken forward and used today, they now seem to have morphed in what we've come to expect from modern business.
I am unable to comment on the standard of the work carried out but quite frankly, it could be the best paint job a steel frame has ever had and it wouldn't make up for this level of service. read more
