I was established patient of Dr. Ahner' for many years. On Mother's Day 2026, I was injured in a…read moremassage. I knew I needed a chest MRI done. I called Dr. Ahner's office to ask him to write an order. The nurse who answered the phone outright refused to issue the order because I hadn't been seen in more than a year. (I had been dealing with a series of family emergencies and the year obviously got away from me.) I told the nurse that I would be happy to come in, if that is what I must do to have an order written. Then, to my utter horror, the nurse said I couldn't come in because there were no available appointments until next year. What kind of doctor and office refuses to provide essential care for an established patient who is undergoing an urgent issue? This is an outrage. Needless to say, I won't be back.

I moved here from Illinois needing immediate continued care for a disability. Knowing that I would…read morelook like a drug seeking addict, I came armed with all the correct documents, files, health records, and even a hand written letter from my personal physician. Long and short of it. I had to establish care with a primary who was very judgmental and MADE me do labs that had just been done 2 weeks prior. COULD NOT prescribe the meds I needed, when in Illinois my nurse practitioner is allowed to prescribe these meds. Referred me to a pain specialist who took 3 weeks! to get back to me and said I don't prescribe meds for some off the wall reason that had absolutely nothing to do with my disability!! Incompetent. Is one way to describe Cleveland Clinic.

However, the time getting an appt was terrible, most of the time, her nurse never returned my call. I had to call 3 times to obtain an appt, I have never seen such incompetent people in my life. Most unfriendly and rude. They were going to charge me for an appt that I called and cancelled, until I told them that I had called to cancel the appt. Many times I wanted to see Dr. Briceno, but I did not enjoy sitting there for 2 hrs waiting to get to see her. I have never experienced being treated that way by any other office in my life. I am sorry Dr Briceno has left, but I won't miss never going to that office ever again... Learn to treat patients like people, not animals.
