I went in with a painful issue that was addressed by a nurse. With only talking to me, she made a diagnosis that I knew to be wrong. When I countered her, she double downed and when I asked to see a doctor, she basically told me that she was the caregiver and I could go somewhere else if I did not like her diagnosis. Yes, rude and no empathy. That night I was even in more pain and I went to the emergency room, taking the Helix paperwork with me. The doctor spent a lot of time with me, did tests, said the Helix nurse's diagnosis was so wrong. Bottom line...thankfully it was only painful and repairable but need not have gotten as serious if the nurse would have listened to me. read more

I called ahead to see if they excepted my insurance they said yes I asked if I would make an appointment for the following day the last time they take appointments at 3:30. I got there before 330 the same day & told me all they could do is give me a referral for imaging for lower back and stomach pain. unfortunately, sliced my palm near thumb pad with box cutter, really deep and long, on way to ER - decided to call Helix-Jupiter as had been there before and had wonderful service. plus we know how long you can wait at the ER - they indicated they could see me. Dr. Pruett was there and she was just fantastic. Was in for treatment in less than 5 min. 14 stitches later - and feeling comfortable as Dr. Pruett spent time to explain next step in recovery. went back another 3 times for follow up and stitches removed, also saw PA Espinoza and he was also wonderful. Could not be happier with treatment, service and facility, plus the time saved by not going to the ER. read more

I went to Helix Urgent care on 12/19/23 after sustaining several dog bites to both arms. I am by training a trauma/critical care Nurse Practitioner with 15 years at the bedside who still actively practices. I knew several of the wounds were deep and I knew I needed antibiotics by guidelines. The front office staff were wonderful. My MA Ashlee was absolutely wonderful as well as the MA/RT who took my vitals and story when I first got there. My issue is with the physician that I saw a Dr. Michael Wolford, DO, a man who has no business working with patients. His bedside manner is that of Dr. Mengle. I came to this place specifically due to the very positive reviews I saw from many others. I was excited to see the NP's and PA's there who would be able to help me when I couldn't help myself in this situation. Dr. Wolford saw my wounds, he cleaned them, I knew it would hurt it wasn't numb but to say there was any gentleness there would be a lie. He swabbed betadine on them and then immediately started to numb it. He was quite rough with the numbing. Lidocaine burns the needle burns, there was no slowly injecting the lidocaine as I do myself with my patients there was no waiting for the lidocaine to even take effect. He just started suturing. He did this to two different wounds. He didn't even allow the betadine to dry, wet betadine DOES NOT kill pathogens yet he is sealing up anything that was inside where it will stay wet. His response was well you'll be on Antibiotics. This does not follow the standards of care or practice. He then wanted to suture up my wound on my hand by my thumb which is also contrary to current guidelines, I at first refused but he insisted so I let him. When he inserted the needle into my hand it was more painful than the bite. The injection was horrific to the point I screamed out GOD D@MN IT and had to pull my hand away while there was still a needle in it. It was almost like he took pleasure in my discomfort. With the doctor having a tracheostomy and passy muir valve to be able to speak himself I'd of thought the treatment I received would have been far more gentle. I told him he wasn't going to touch me anymore and I was done. He left and I saw the derma bond there I had the MA get it for me so I could close it after cleaning it out myself with the betadine that had now dried. The MA Ashlee wrapped my arm and I helped here where I could, I requested the office manager given my experiences with that physician and gave her my story. It was relayed to me that this is not the first or even second time she has been told this about this particular physician. I will NEVER go back and be seen by this guy again. I would give the urgent care another try if there was another provider there given my experiences but will never be seen nor let my family be seen by this Dr. Wolford ever again. read more

A big thank you to the team at Helix Urgent Care for their efficient, professional, and friendly medical services. I had called about coming in for a self pay toe injury and the receptionist was able to provide reasonable pricing over the phone. After the call, I drove to the clinic and was able to be seen right away. I told the Dr I had stubbed my toe and showed him recent pictures of the back and blue bruising. From there, he had me go to another room for x-rays. The Dr came back with my results of a closed fracture and then the assistant helped buddy tape my toe. I find this U C to be the utmost in good patient care and professionalism. I saw PA Tatiana C and she was amazing. In just a few minutes she had diagnosed my problems and given me an arsenal of meds to make sure I had every tool to fight my breathlessness/infection & that I didn't have to be at a doctor again (which I greatly appreciated since I was self pay). Hard working and caring people work here. My husband has used this UC and says the same. Very thorough and never rushed. Note: I can't believe that another reviewer remarked on a carer's appearance on here. Overall i was happy with my experience at this urgent care. i hesitated to go because many of them have not been worth the time in my opinion. the wiorstpart of the experience was finding out when i arrived that they don't take appointments when clearly their site says they do and helps you to do so. I was told by a woman who has clearly had to explain this numerous times that it is really only a preregistration and it says so at the bottom in fine print ( as opposed to the bold faced(Make an Appointment) but once i got through that the other staff members very very pleasant and happy to help. I went to 2 other urgent cares this morning. The first there were 6 people ahead of me I waited 40 mins and nobody went in. The staff was rude so I left. I went to cvs urgent care and they weren't allowing walk ins. So I found helix urgent care and went. I walked in the office was beyond clean and the front desk staff was very nice! I had my infant with me as well was worried they were going to say something with how weird everything is now with rona but they didn't mind. They took me back almost immediately. If I could give this place zero stars I would. The NP is useless! I went there because I had a swollen throat, not sore throat, a very bad rash on my neck and torso, I told her I was very hot all day and night but no fever or sweating. She takes a throat culture and says it may be strep. But gives me an oral steroid for the rash. Thank God I didn't take it. A few days passes I'm getting worse, they never call me with the results of my culture, I called them 3x and they never called me back. A week later I was finally able to get them from Quest. I did not have strep. I finally got in to see an ENT, he immediately gave me a Zpak and said whatever it is it's bacterial. Did a nose culture. Came back positive for H-influenza which is very bad. The zpak wasn't even strong enough. Besides the fact that the NP completely misdiagnosed me, the only time I ever heard from Helix was to collect money. NPs are NOT doctors. And furthermore I have an issue with people in the medical field that are grossly obese. How can you respect the opinion about your health from someone who clearly doesn't even care about their own. Also they left me in the waiting area for 2 hour and they're was only one person in front of me when I got there and I could hear them all gossiping wasting my time in the waiting area. The physicians do not work as a team. One PA told me if my daughter wasn't better the next day to call back and they would write a script for a steroid. I called back the next day and a different NP was on staff and refused to write it without seeing her even though she could read what the PA wrote the day before. This is a terrible, terrible place. Avoid at all cost. I was nervous enough about going in there during COVID and was moved into 3 different rooms during the short time I was there. I also saw 3 different nurses and at one point there were 3 people in my room. It was extremely unprofessional and I felt uncomfortable the entire time. I had to call to follow up for answers several times, and they eventually told me to ask my doctor how to treat me since I was breastfeeding. I am still waiting on my final test results 2.5 weeks later, but at this point I've moved on with my life. read more

Excellent experience. I was told by a emergency doctor that Helix Urgent Care May be testing for COVID and I happened to be in the center where they are located in Jupiter/ Tequesta. I stopped in to see if I needed to make an appointment. They said I did not. They told me they could do it at that moment if I wanted a test done. I have no symptoms except a cough sometimes, but that is normal for me having allergies. My mom is 86 and I get concerned about being around her, so I decided to take the test to have certainty. They were efficient, and professional, but mostly, a modern nicely decorated and clean place. Everyone was friendly. I was in and out in 20 minutes. I will have result information in 12 -14 days. Then I was moved to the exam room where I was assessed by a very competent Nurse Practitioner. She diagnosed my ear infection quickly and answered all of my questions. Saturday I went in for a Covid test because I had a fever the night before. Though I had to wait longer then anticipated I didn't mind they are super nice, caring and professional. I asked since it's the weekend would it be possible to still get results. They said yes they work the weekend but they couldn't guarantee getting earlier than 2-3 days. Today I was disappointed because I knew they close at 4 but I received a call at 5:30 telling me it was negative. Not only was I thrilled but I was soo impressed with their quick turn around. At the end I was not diagnosed correctly and left with a very bad taste. This lady lacks knowledge and credibility in her field. She should not be working with the public let alone patients.
