If you take the crosstown bus and walk from 79th Street on Columbus Avenue to the flea market,…read moreyou'll pass various farm stands lining the road. It made my visit to the Bazaar all the more pleasant. I've been coming to Grand Bazaar for more years than I care to remember, having taken a break for ten -- okay twenty -- years. Can't put my finger on why, perhaps I'm not as interested as I used to be. While the market is vibrant and busy, it's not as it was. Perhaps not as much diversity in wares. (I used to get a lot of pottery, art and vintage jewelry.) Back in the day, my friends and I would go to the East Village and buy funky old fur jackets for a song. I kind of had that in the back of my mind coming here. (There are many vintage coat vendors.) But prices have risen considerably. (What hasn't?!) The market is open Sundays, year 'round. Despite buying nothing, I know I'll be back. (Maybe coats get cheaper when it's warmer.) Plus, I like strolling around on the upper westside, which has a different flavor than the eastside, where I live.

I was lucky enough to wander across this market and was blown away by how large and diverse it is…read moreonce you enter. There was such an array of goodies from home goods to clothing to candles and more in all price ranges. Everyone was friendly and talkative about their products. I picked up some early Christmas gifts and I am so excited to show my family. I think this is such an easy way to get unique finds for an array of people all in one spot or just to shop for yourself. I heard they also carry some really cute vintage clothing so you can score really cute pieces here in a nice open air space so there's a relaxed shopping experience.

Unique Boutique has a store in my block Upper East Side. When I'm in this West Side neighborhood I…read morevisit this location. I am sure I took lots of photos and did a review but they're not posted here. Bottom line is they have a wide variety of unusual items that people donate. I really enjoy looking and sometimes I find a nik knack for my daughter! There's always CD's and books too. I'm recommending you visit either location.

An incredible jumble of a place, especially when without warning, they have just received a number…read moreof enormous bags of donations, which they hardly have space for and certainly cannot be expected to drop everything and process. But when things are normal, the lighting is excellent, the clothes are well organized and the staff is always, and I repeat, always polite and friendly. They are business people and this is their business and customers need to understand that. As with any business based on donations, you can find wonderful things at very reasonable prices or you can find nothing at all to your liking. But that is why Unique Boutique -- and each item is unique -- is so much fun. A note -- someone reviewed it saying "I called to ask about furniture and the guy said no and hung up the phone..." This is what I mean about customers not understanding retail...you asked a question, he answered it and why should he stay on the phone with you ? There is no way this store has the space to accommodate furniture and once that is clear, there is nothing more to say, so salespeople hang up. If you would like them to apologize for not taking or selling something impossible, that is what you expect culturally, but other people do not think that is necessary in what is not a personal relationship. You asked a question, you got an answer, good bye, move on.

This place is a total scam This place is a total scam. They…read moreare engaging in blatant false advertisement, charging premium prices for absolute junk. I bought what I thought was a high-end band for my Apple Watch, only to realize the exact same cheap, low-quality band is sold at Target and Amazon for a third of the price. The moment I opened the box, I was shocked. The photos online are clearly "enhanced" to look luxury, but the physical product is flimsy and doesn't match the description at all. When I immediately emailed to request a full refund, they started playing games. They claimed they wanted to "ensure my satisfaction" but insisted I send them a photo of the bracelet first--which is ridiculous since I had just received it and told them it was in the original condition. I sent them my original invoice to prove the purchase and reiterated that I simply do not want the item. Since then? Total radio silence. They have completely stopped responding to my emails. To make matters worse, their phone line is a joke; it seems to exist only to tell you they don't take calls or to leave you hanging. Do not waste your money here. You're paying "luxury" prices for dollar-store quality and zero customer support.

I'm appalled by the way Jonathan, the owner, responds to many of the 1-star reviews here on Yelp. Not only does he appear to respond mostly to negative feedback, but his tone often comes across as rude and overly defensive. Jonathan, having a business for 30 years doesn't give you a free pass to be dismissive toward people who are simply sharing their experiences. There's always room for growth and improvement. Instead of being combative, take the time to really listen to your customers and consider their concerns--this could lead to positive changes and an even better shopping experience. That said, I visited this consignment store a few days ago, and Jonathan himself was actually very helpful and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the consignment process and was very pleasant throughout. The store itself is a bit overcrowded with clothing and shoes, which can feel overwhelming, but the selection is solid and the pricing is reasonable considering the focus on high-end pieces. While the clothing leans more mature, there are definitely options for all ages. This shop is exclusively for women--I didn't see any men's items, but that's not a dealbreaker for me. The clearance section is located upstairs, and while I did find a lot of regular designer names, I didn't spot many high-end pieces there aside from a few pairs of shoes. Also, the upstairs area definitely needs better ventilation--AC or at least a few fans would make a big difference, as it was uncomfortably warm. As for handbags, I might have missed them since I was more focused on clothes and shoes, but I didn't see any notable high-end options in that category during my visit. I plan to return soon with more time to explore. Despite my concerns about how the owner responds to feedback online, I didn't experience any issues personally during my visit. I actually had a positive shopping experience, and I would recommend this store. I just hope that in the future, there's some improvement in how customer feedback is handled publicly--it really does make a difference.
