Our little one enjoyed making and flying several different paper airplanes. Many hands on activities on the second floor geared toward the younger generation, I was equally eager to learn. This is a smaller museum, which actually worked out great with kids. You can go through everything in about an hour without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Good option if you don't want to commit to a full-day museum. Experience: A lot of hands-on exhibits, which kept the kids interested. Simple, interactive, and easy to understand -- especially for younger kids. Not super advanced, but still fun and educational. Value: Hard to beat since it was free today. Even at regular price, it's still reasonable for a short visit. Overall: Nice local spot, especially for families. Not huge or super high-tech, but it does the job for a quick outing. Would come back, especially if looking for something simple to do with the kids.

I was asked to pull my original review of this place down because parents were worried about the…read morereputation of the barn reflecting poorly on their kids. Well. Upon further reflection and new information that has come to light, I feel the right thing to do is inform people how terrible this place is. Do not come here. I'm sure at one point, this was a good place, but it seems like the good people left. Not only is this place on a death spiral grind to survive, it's full of lying, manipulative, toxic people. The place is run by a completely unprofessional human being named Joel Griffin - who has a known track record of harassment and apparently a history of being hostile. If you want a community of riders to grow and share bonds over animals - these are not your people. This is Mean Girls on a budget. The owners work harder at excuses and blame than they do providing the services you pay for. They will not clean your stalls. They will hide the stuff they are supposed to clean under your shavings. You will get extra helpings of passive aggressive behavior if you mention it. Joel, the owner, has no problem spreading rumors and information about anyone's personal lives to anyone who happens to be around. There's no limit, or any filter. He's actually said that he won't answer the calls of some boarders because they annoy him. He is also cheap. Did I mention he was inappropriate? Don't tell him or anyone anything personal unless you want others to know. They will not fix anything for you unless a situation turns into a blow out. Our horse and several other horses have sustained repeated injuries due to stall conditions, and nothing was done about it. They will do the bare minimum with feeding. If you use a slow feeder or have special dietary needs, you're on your own. They will not help. When we discovered a horse living in squalor, and temporarily moved it, they accused us child endangerment. And after getting angry and confronting people about lying and spreading misinformation, there is now a rumor going around saying I threatened to punch a woman . This behavior is ABSOLUTELY NOT OK and it is dangerous. Fortunately we have a couple of witnesses to the contrary, and learned of an illegal recording that was made during that confrontation, so should be easy prove otherwise. We are definitely talking to our attorney about what actions we can take against this place and any slanderous/libelous claims made against us both from the owners and any remaining boarders who just don't seem to get how bad and serious these claims are. They will definitely throw you under the bus, before even considering the acceptance of anything remotely resembling their own accountability. This isn't normal. When we left, due to all of the drama and complete unprofessionalism (not to mention keeping up the stall became a nearly a full time job despite paying for it), we were locked out of our locker, instantly - even tho we had paid for the whole month. We want to go and recover our remaining items and food,, but now don't feel safe or trusting of the people there. You never know what will be said about you next, or what will be manipulated into something else The barn is not secured. Odd people randomly come thru off of the street, and it doesn't feel safe at night. It's sandwiched between railroad tracks full of garbage and the occasional homeless tents, some processing plants... and the 710. There are groups of riders who take over the barn at night, party, get drunk and rowdy. Some say some beat their horses, but the owner turns a blind eye because "money is money". There have been claims that worse behavior towards other boarders has occurred. I cannot personally verify these claims, but I've heard similar stories from unrelated people elsewhere, who had boarded there and left. We have spoken with a few previous IEC boarders now at our new location as well as people from across the city, who all have their own horror stories. This includes vets, horse professionals, caretakers etc. this is obviously a huge problem. Joel is a huge problem. And to the people out there worried about the reputation of the barn... you should be. And you should do something about it. These are your decisions. It's your responsibility. I will not subject my family to this place for one second longer, or cover for one of the worst experiences of my life for the sake of others. That is just irresponsible at this point and my family deserves better.

He loved the variety of activities and made so many new friends. He came home with fun stories each day. I loved that they offered a variety of options from 2 days/week to 5 days. We returned last summer and an unexpected and sudden medical event threw our summer for a loop. They were beyond kind and accommodating. Michael, the owner, personally made sure we were taken care of at a very scary time and was just incredibly kind and communicative. I can't thank him and his staff enough for the support. I would recommend this camp for any family. Its like a classic, old-school summer day camp experience!

My son attended Adventurewood camp for the first time this week. For the most part he enjoyed…read morehimself -- particularly the characters they introduce throughout the week. However, we decided to pull him out for next week because of a very disturbing situation. He shared that a counselor had pushed him with both hands on his shoulders during a capture the flag activity. He had dropped his flag and was putting it back on when a counselor (he didn't know her name) pushed him back hard enough to make him lose his balance and fall. She also barked "you need to reset!" She didn't ask if he was ok or help him up. You'd think if this was an accidental push and he fell over she would say something like "sorry bud are you ok? Here let me help you up" but nope, not a word. A friend he's attending camp with witnessed the whole incident. Since I pick them both up in the afternoons they both recounted this situation to me and both of them noted how inappropriate her behavior was. I immediately reached out to Michael, the owner of the camp. He said he wanted to identify this counselor and get her side of the story. Understandable. My son felt uncomfortable going back the next day but I reassured him it would be handled and offered to drop him off in the morning and stick around to talk to Michael and the counselor. I wanted him to feel safe. Michael identified her (her name is Carson) and said he wanted to talk to her first, which he did a few feet away from me. I heard her say she didn't push him. They then walked over to me and she again denied everything. So we asked both kids to come over and recount what happened. They both did -- in front of her -- and reiterated she pushed him. She denied even touching him. So Michael suggests at this point that perhaps it was an accident and my son responds by saying "how do you push someone like that by accident?!" No response. So I ask her, are you saying these kids are lying? She again said she didn't touch him and at this point we send the kids away. I'm incensed because not only does she gaslight both of them to their face but tells this bold faced lie to her boss in front of the campers and me. I tell her I believe them and I think she's the one lying. At this point she gives me this dirty look - angry, irritated and almost rolls her eyes at me. I turn to Michael and say "and now she's giving ME an attitude?!" Unbelievable. In a follow up call, he tells me how good of a person she is and that this is shocking for him to hear but that she doesn't seem like someone who would do something like this...that she's getting her teacher credentials and he knows her really well. I am getting the vibe he doesn't actually believe any of this and he sounds very skeptical. I respond by telling him that it's almost always surprising when people exhibit bad behavior and that even teachers do bad things...that doesn't make her any more credible in my eyes. He acknowledged that. In fact, it's worse because I would be really concerned to have someone like that teaching a kid. Lack of empathy, accountability, and integrity. I mean, I think it's great he's trying to have her back but there are moments in life when you need to draw a line and act swiftly...these are one of those moments. Because ultimately, this impacts the reputation of your camp. I told him that it would be good to offer training to his staff in case this ever happens again in the future and honestly he sounded baffled and asked me to clarify...I said well maybe tell your staff not to give dirty looks to a mom who's clearly upset that her son just got pushed by a grown adult at summer camp?? I told him that the response to this situation could've resulted in a totally different outcome. Had she said something like "I really don't recall pushing you but if I inadvertently did and made you feel bad I'm sorry - I didn't mean to do that" - I would've went home that morning feeling fine about the situation. When I told him this he said that he's not going to police all her reactions, that she's still young, that she's still learning and made all kinds of excuses for her. Exhausting. Apparently she got a "warning" and will sit out of the flag activity (umm, ok...). He seems like a smart guy and wish him nothing but success in the future and I was earnestly trying to offer advice for how to handle a situation like this better but it fell on deaf ears. I really hope that some kind of learning comes out of this for both of them. Oh and to top it off, my son's friend told her mom that Carson was giving her looks several times throughout the day today and when she asked what kind she said "side eye" looks. NOT COOL. My son also said she was kind of mean to him but wondering why they were even in close proximity when Michael said they'd absolutely be separated and would not see each other? Validates we both made the right choice by pulling them both out. He offered a refund but I'm still pissed about the situation.

I hate to critique the heck out of this place because i feel the staff mean well but as business this place is scary. ZERO UPKEEP: 1.They have racketball rooms that were just converted into anything other than racketball 2.The top floor gym circuit is non existant, wtf why, please do something with this spot. Just a bunch of left over garage sale level equipment tossed up there 3.Locker room here has people sleeping on couches ( never bothered me), it seems like a place you go if the wife kicks you out or are a transient. 4. Outside has an old left over workout setup for pullups etc but bring gloves, no way to sanitize it after a workout 5.PRICE is insanely expensive for what you get, it is cheaper to go to Crunch and in some cases 24 hour fitness and for that cost can get a trainer to help you at these other locations. This place only gets a 2 star because it has a pool else i would give it a 1. If this place could come up with a fee just for people using the pool i would be back but trying to charge 50$ a month is ridiculous.

The changing rooms for the adults are on the second floor. There is no elevator. (So basically up a flight of stairs, change, down a flight of stairs, swim in the pool.) When I asked about disability access to the pool, I was told that I could wear my suit under my clothes, which would mean going home in a wet swim suit. (The guy who gave us the tour was decidedly unhelpful. He couldn't seem to comprehend why I had a problem with the set up... even though I walk with a cane and had told him I was there to build leg and back strength.) Update: After talking to the membership manager, I have learned that there is access to the pool via the Family Changing Room. There are showers in there and stalls with curtains. The rule seems to be that adults can't be nude in the shower (in other words: Shower with your swimsuit on). The stals can be used to change into and out of swimsuits. That's why right now, this is a two star review. It's a compromise, I guess. Still need to decide whether we are going to do this or not.
