For a resume designed to get you noticed, chose Resumes By Joyce. Your phone will not stop ringing…read more Let's face it. The job search search has evolved over time and technology has brought new opportunities and challenges. And that is why having a custom tailored resume is paramount. It is your calling card. It is the first impression of your "brand" and probably the most lasting impression. It is imperative that you have a resume that is clean, crisp, professional, visually appealing, and conveys your "brand" - to the targeted audience. That is why I picked Resumes By Joyce. Joyce previously created my resume, and it was outstanding. The moment I posted it on the job boards, my phone would not stop ringing. I recently went back to school to pursue my MBA. I knew that I needed a new resume and Joyce was my obvious choice. Joyce works with you and works to ensure that you, the customer, is branded appropriately for the market place. She is plugged in to what the "buzz words" and new design layout themes are at any point in time. Since these can be fluid, it is important that you work with someone who knows how to get your resume noticed and beyond the ATS wall - (Taleo), and into the hiring manager's hands. Joyce is the person who can do this for you. The services are customized for the candidate. You send in your resume and a job description that you are targeting. Then a 30 minute consult is done on the phone to ask questions and discuss logistics. Joyce uses this time to find out more about the professional. The turn around time (TAT) is very quick. I had two different resumes - completed very quickly. I e-mailed her back after I reviewed my resume. We then had a 45 minute follow-up phone call to discuss any changes. She made the changes and then I had my resume. Joyce is patient and understanding, yet she is firm if she believes that a resume should have a particular buzz word or layout. This is important because she has deep industry knowledge and is aware of current trends. She will explain why something should be the way it is, so that you are aware that it wasn't randomly done. Think about it. Do you want an order taker in a boiler room just incorporating suggestions or do you want constructive feedback so that you get an interview? The goal is to get a job. Resumes By Joyce will create a lot of interest and plenty of phone calls. The design work is first class and she knows how to highlight your key strengths. Joyce returned my resume on August 19th. I had an offer on August 29th. I had two more offers and the third offer that I really wanted on September 11th. In 17 days, I went from resume to job offer.

I worked with Denise as a career coach for a few months and ended up doing three phone sessions…read more Denise is friendly, professional, approachable, and talented women who I believe would relate well to a variety of people. She led me through a few exercises to help me better identify my goals in life and most important values. This was helpful to some extent but I never felt very clear about next steps. Denises' strategy is to help people believe in themselves and find their own track rather than just telling them, or advising them on what to do next. On the one hand, I believe there is a lot of power in Denises' approach and ultimately people have to be responsible for themselves and whatever career choices they make. On the other hand, as a professional career coach, I expected a little more feedback on what some good options or next moves for me might be. I did not leave unhappy but just a little unfulfilled and unwilling to continue expensive coaching sessions without being 99% confident that I would gain more clarity. That being said, one reason I chose Denise is that her pricing model seemed in-line with others and even had more flexibility in that I didn't have to commit up-front to 6 months of coaching. Denise has a lot of really good experience and I think is an insightful person. She made it clear to me that I have many talents and could basically move in any direction that I wanted. Doing the career exercises didn't really help me figure out what I wanted to do more and perhaps that's not her fault. She did help me understand that without knowing more about what an actual job/career would be like, it's hard to make a judgement about whether it would be something I would find fulfilling and a good fit. In the end, I am still looking for mini-experiments, or "try-ons" to learn more about my options and could have used some more help with this. As an example, when I did the "homework" assignments, I didn't feel like the feedback and follow up on the assignments was specific enough for what I was expecting. Again, maybe my expectations were off and maybe it's more a matter of fit and with someone that has a more narrow focus and/or knows what they want, Denise could be a great option. For an admittedly indecisive person like myself, it maybe wasn't a perfect fit.
