As someone who grew up in Pennsylvania living off of cheese steaks, I can honestly say that Elizabeth's gets it as close to perfect as anywhere I have been! As another reviewer has said, the pizza is pretty good (especially the sauce) but it's been awhile since I've eaten it, because I always make sure I have plenty of room for a 12" overflowing with steak & provolone! Occasionally I will go with the deliciously over stuffed calzone or steak stromboli. The kids can't seem to get enough of their large slices though! They also have Spaghetti, Salads, Manicotti, Lasagna, Eggplant Parmigiana, everything being homemade and fresh! Most of the negative reviews appear to be 5-10 years old. I had no issues with my treatment. Since I'm out of town I wanted to try a couple different items so I ordered a small calzone and a 8" meatball sandwich and figured I'd just take whatever was left back to the hotel room. I gasped when my food came out... the "small" calzone was hanging off of both ends of the dinner plate! They are usually pretty good, but I paid quite a bit for a cheese calzone, and it was a flat piece of garbage. I have seen other calzones they have made, and they are beautiful. I finally decided to try one and what a mistake. I got ripped off. Be very choosy about what you order from them. They charged me a lot and gave me something ridiculous. Friendly service. Had the cheesesteak, chicken cheesesteak and chicken parmigiana. All very good but the cheesesteak was the best by far! Don't let the atmosphere scare you...it's just a building and does not do the food justice! Good amount of food for the money. Menu was hard to find online so I took pics to add for others to use. The only down side was Pepsi products as I prefer Coke but you have choice of fountain and bottles and sweet tea. read more

Elizabeth's has been open for as long as I can remember and for good reason. They have one of the best if not the best cheese steaks in the area. The 12" special steak comes with cheese, mushrooms, onions, and peppers and potato chips for $7.65. Add fries and a drink and you have a great meal for two for about $12. I've had their pizza, but it's been a long time because I always get the cheese steak. I'm sure Elizabeth's will be around for many years to come. read more

We always do take-out, never dine-in, so I can't really speak to the inside facilities. The food, overall, is good, but there are definitely some winners and losers. On the winner side, the chicken steak special is very good -- soft, crispy sub, tasty chicken, onions, green peppers. Their chicken parm is also tasty, although nothing spectacular. Pizzas are better than most small-town pizza parlors, with a decent crust, good cheese, and they're flavorful. On the loser side, anything with an Alfredo sauce tastes like it's from a can. The pasta carbonara was terrible... The description said it was pasta with a white sauce and pan-seared pancetta. Note that, while it's LIKE bacon, pancetta isn't actually bacon. What came out was, in fact, their typical Alfredo sauce (again, tastes canned) with limp slices of undercooked bacon. No crisp at all, and the slices were full width and probably 1/2" long. Gross, and not one I would recommend even if you were starving. Overall, if you know what to get and what to avoid, they're a good option for takeout. read more

Love the food here but terrible business practices. Store and web advertised closing at 9pm on Thurs. I started calling at 8...no answer to multiple calls; then I stopped by at 8:25. Sign off and store and food area cleaned up, grill off. I asked for a slice and was denied. Why advertise 9pm if you stop answering and taking order at 8pm. Just close at 8!!!! read more

I'm putting my review at three stars -- right in the middle. I'll explain why. If I were reviewing only the cheese steak subs, I'd easily give five of five stars, as they are absolutely freakin' delicious. This is what a cheese steak sub is supposed to look like, smell like, and taste like. They are spot on delicious. The fries are great too, and when you get an order of fries, it's a big order. They definitely don't skimp out on how much they give you. It's pretty much everything else about the place that sucks though. It's a very cramped up tiny little place inside with uncomfortable seating. It isn't clean, and you can just glance around and see crap around the vents and such that seem to not have been cleaned in years. Honestly the place just seems old as the hills and the housekeeping has obviously stretched thin through the years. The employees are awkward, always dress in just whatever street clothes they rolled out of bed in, etc. Again though, the food is good. really, really good. read more

First of all this place doesn't give out free water. Then, I'm trying to jam out to rock me amadeus and the volume isn't working. What a waste of a dollar. At this point I'm thinking to myself... at least the food will be good right? But no, as I bite into my Stromboli I am horribly disappointed to find out that even I, a chef that can only make Mac and cheese and eggs, could have put together a superior Stromboli. That being said, the complementary crackers with the salad were a nice touch. So if ur a really big cracker fan then I recommend u go here. read more

The food is great, however the customer service there is awful. I will say that I was in there the other day and noticed when the guy rang our order up was more then I anticipated. I even asked if my husband had gotten water and he said yes. My son got a kids meal which comes with a drink. So I asked him for a receipt. He hesitated to give it but did and when I questioned the extra charge on it he laughed and gave excuse he gave me a drink cup instead of water, however charged me 25 cents for water. He gave me the money that was over charged then asked for the drink cup back.I just wonder who else or how many ppl don't notice or question. Very dark and dirty, no one greeted us when we entered. We walked around looking for a clean table to sit at and found one in a very dark corner. As we started to sit down, we realized that our feet were sticking to the floor due to a soda spill that was not properly cleaned up. We decided to leave. read more

Excellent pizza and low prices. It doesn't have a particularly appealing atmosphere, but it's a must on race weekends.

Pizza was ok for this part of Virginia, but the cheesesteak sub was not good, very chewy tough meat and lacked flavor. The prices are good, but they need to improve the Philly style beef on those subs. read more
