My two daughters are graduates of Elizabeth Seton, my oldest Bria was apart of the first pharmacy tech class, she graduated from Pharmacy School this year and received her Pharm D. She will be taking the board exam this Summer to become a licensed pharmacist. My youngest daughter also completed the pharmacy tech program at Seton, she will be entering her senior year at Towson University and will be applying to PA school. Our daughter is a senior at Seton, and we are grateful to her dedicated, excellent teachers and awesome admissions team. This year the Counsellors office is doing a fantastic job guiding them as they walk through the College Applications process. Her friendships are strong and reflect Seton's sisterhood which is diverse and inclusive. The President Dr. Grillo, brings a strong vision to empower and prepare Seton students and calm, thoughtful and prayerful leadership. She is warm and genuinely interested in each and every student's dreams and accomplishments. All of the staff seem to want to cultivate confidence in them to excel. Mrs. McDonough, the principal is always helpful and responsive. Students are encouraged to advocate for themselves, especially with class selection & teachers. Over the past two years, there has been a tremendous shift to expose the students to events with national leaders, business owners, career fairs, service and internship opportunities. The lunch menu needs to be tweaked, yes. The are many clubs to join and have a leadership role in or you can petition to start your own. Arts, Dance and Athletics is heavily supported and cheered for. If you love music, Dr. Tatum welcomes you regardless of your skill level. The Orchestras, Choir and Honors Wind Ensemble compete nationally, and again won in New York with a superior rating. The Choir was honored to be invited to perform at the White House! They offer Pre-Career Programs in Law, Engineering & Pharmacy and the Young Women's Entrepreneurship Program with a Professional Etiquette class students love -taught by Ms. Lawson. "Light to know. Would give this 0 stars if I could. This is the most inappropriate, money-hungry, broke school I have ever witnessed with my own two eyes. I have gone there for 2 years, and couldn't stand it enough for another 2 years to continue. The staff is incompetent, particularly the administration. The administration cheats their students, the parents, constantly makes false promises, and only promotes lame activities that make students reevaluate their life choices. This school is a glorified public school and not worth a cent I put forth into my education here. Students at this school are extremely cliquey and a conversation-loving extrovert such as myself still had few friends and many enemies. The administration will refuse you anything that requires even a small amount of money you are OWED, such as revoking technology that is already half paid for with no chance for refunds or even to pay off, or hundreds of dollars for a personal fundraiser. In my personal opinion this school is demonstrating many elements of being on the verge of bankruptcy and seems to try to grasp onto every cent they can. 90% of public schools have better amenities and buildings. If you are not the poster student at Seton, with stellar grades and ideas, you will FAIL AND STRUGGLE at Seton. Seton is not a place for the lower to rise, it is to keep them struggling and weak. Classes are very difficult. It is a pathetic excuse for a private school and these 2 years here were the worst schooling of my life. Please take this as my warning sign and do not send your daughters/yourself here, so many students leave and transfer it is mouth-dropping and ridiculous. The class sizes every year dwindle and dwindle, look at the statistics going from year to year. This rating is based on the experience of a cousin who recently graduated from Seton. Her four-year Seton experience, in terms of personal/academic discipline, was challenging. With many hours of study, she had ongoing academic struggles. She failed one course in her junior year and had to re-take it to graduate. Sometimes she found the discipline from her teachers very intimidating. Despite all of the assistance she got from her teachers and family, her GPA and SAT scores weren't high enough to get her into her first-choice college. She is currently attending an out-of-state university that has a flexible admissions policy for incoming freshmen. For families considering sending their daughter(s) to Seton, or any Catholic high school, check out the school's website for admission policies, tuition, and graduate testimonials. Get in touch with and/or visit the school. Ask for a list of all courses required for graduation. For example, four years of religion classes are required for graduation from Seton. Ask for a specific course outline for all four years. In conclusion, Seton impresses this reviewer as a Catholic high school for highly-motivated teens pursuing academic excellence. I have had a daughter at ESHS for 3 years and she is thriving. I attended an open house a few years ago not really expecting to like it but by the time we left, both my daughter and I were sold. The girls that were serving as guides, the faculty, and the staff were warm and welcoming. Seton was my daughter's first choice from that day even though we looked at other schools. We applied (and were accepted) at another school but chose Seton and have not regretted the decision. The first year was a bit of a challenge for my daughter who came from a school that gave much less homework however, she rose to the challenge and developed organization and study skills that have enabled her to consistently be on the honor roll. My daughter is taking honors and AP courses now and excelling. Classes are generally small so there is ample opportunity for teachers to get to know their students. Teachers are available to students who need help before and/or after school. The course offerings are extensive and girls have the chance to pursue interests in addition to completing the requirements for graduation. I appreciate knowing that my daughter is attending school in the safe and caring environment that we have found at Seton. My youngest daughter is now in 8th grade and can hardly wait to becoming a Seton Roadrunner. Elizabeth Seton has been a gift to my family. read more
