She is discerning in her approach, talks to me as an equal, and clearly explains why she suggests certain treatments over others. I also appreciate that she consults with colleagues, and enjoys keeping up to date on nutrition literature and trends. Dr. Bachlet refunded me for my past two visits. I am pleasantly surprised, as this wouldn't happen in any other doctors clinic. It is nice to see that she really did care about helping me out and she didn't have to refund me any money, but she said she didn't want me to think negatively of holistic medicine, which I don't. I just have to find a better match (for me). I am grateful to her for that kind gesture!

Because she uses acupuncture, herbs and other Naturopathic treatments, it's a slower process to maximum health, especially when overcoming any specific condition. It isn't a quick fix like taking a pill, and has meant a long relationship between us has developed. I put my trust in Dr Bachlet and she hasn't let me down. It's amazing how far I've come in the past year of working with her. That may sound like a long time to get well, but I'd been sick for over 3 years with this condition, and most of the hope to get better had gone out of me when I finally went to her. In the 3 years prior to seeing her, I'd been to several Naturopathic's and Medical Doctors. Not only were their diagnosis incorrect, their treatments were actually contributing to the decline of health I continued to suffer with. Dr Bachlet and I really started at the bottom together.... I was fighting mad at that time, tired of being sick, tired of what I felt I'd become because of it. I felt alone and it was difficult for anyone to understand what I was going through. Folks around me just shook their heads and looked down... Now, others around me are noticing how much better I look and sound.. even as little as 6 months ago that didn't seem possible. And more importantly, I see, feel and am living the difference of getting well. It's been a long road to recovery, but I'm grateful she's been there every step of the way. So, Fast Forward.. not really. My health didn't happen over night, but I didn't get sick over night either. And yes, it can be expensive and insurance doesn't cover the cost... at least not here in Hawaii. But there's a whole lot of other doctors out there that will take your money and do absolutely nothing, believe me, I've been to most of them. Hawaii is a pickle when it comes to health care, and I really don't feel there's very many great doctors out there... MD or ND, even many DO's are simply 'practicing' medicine. So yes, be careful, do your research and trust your gut..... but I hope you give Dr B a chance...

In my case, the syndrome manifests itself as a very tight right leg and foot, tingling and varying levels of numbness in my right foot, and stiffness and weakness in my right leg and core. This causes me significant difficulty in walking, necessitating the use of mobility assistive devices such as a walker, cane, knee cart, and shower bench. This has negatively impacted my quality of life, limiting my activities including travel, concerts, and more. Frustrated by western medicine, I received blessings through a family friend who referred me to Dr. Sato at Needles of Hope, I traveled...with difficulty...to Honolulu and underwent nine treatments over three weeks. I was able to walk without devices after just the second treatment! Traveling home was far easier than traveling to Honolulu. As we know, natural path doctors are not only there to treat problem but also they help you prevent illness by helping you to keep healthy. Your body may present certain issues or not, but the holistic health is also important. For many years my platelets are below the norm and regular doctors do not want to address because they don't see "problem" so I should live with it. With Dr Tan's help, I'm slowing raising the platelets and hopefully will to the normal range soon. Since natural path is non-participating providers, we have to pay out of pocket and the price is not cheap. This is just the reality of health care of America- insurance not covered then you pay $$$. For a good doctor and my own health, I think it's worth to pay the price.

The initial consultation appointments with a holistic doctor is pricey. $350 +tax. But I was desperate to find the root of my eczema and health concerns, so I decided to invest in her. The consultation went well and I would say I was happy with our meeting. At the end of the visit, she scheduled 3 appointments for further treatments to help speed up my skin's healing with LED. Upon budgeting my finances, I decided to cancel the LED treatments as I wouldn't be able to afford to be consistent with them 2x a week. I can deal with the external eczema, and just wanted to focus on healing internally to resolve the issue as she has explained is the way to truly heal eczema. Dr. Tan responded to my text passive aggressively, and shut me down completely and to "lmk when you're ready to solve your skin issues. Aloha." I was not looking to quit the path to healing, I simply wanted to just cancel the external treatments as it's not a necessity. She disregarded my questions when I would ask if they were absolutely necessary, and still would not give me an answer. She would just explain what it does. I told her it simply wasn't in my budget, to which she responds "ok. Do whatever your budget allows." She became very short with her answers as I try to understand what is necessary and what's not for my healing process. Things like this makes a patient feel like you're just after their money. A true professional would work with you and tell you what is necessary and possible within your budget. I feel robbed of my time and money invested in that appointment. She's lost a client and I will be looking for a new doctor with a little more professionalism.

And then for whatever reason I decide I'm going to stop going for awhile. (I honestly can't remember why, but there it is.) Then those bad number start going up again. And the doctor decides he's going to put me on regular meds. I feel poopy. And sad. I try some other supplements (I know - why can't I just go back to the ones that worked?!). They DON'T work. Still taking the regular meds - also not really working. I go back to see Dr Wendy and tell her that I'm feeling a little...ehm...stopped up, which is affecting other things too. She knows exactly what the issue is, tests me to make sure, then advises me on appropriate supplements. I get an accupuncture treatment - which, let's face it, is AMAZING - and decide to get the supplements. Before the day is done I feel SO much better already. No kidding. Bottom line? I'm likely returning. Sometimes, after too much McDonalds on the regular, you may find that you're lacking pretty severely in the nutrition department. Is that surprising? Well, no. But that may result in a recommendation of what you might think are a lot of supplements, because you aren't really making good nutritional decisions. If you're on a budget, let Dr Wendy know. She'll advise you on what to keep and still stay in your budget. You may not need to continue on the same stuff forever, depending on the changes you make (I KNOW - it can be so hard to give up those Doritos!), but everyone is different. If you find that you're stuck in a place and you've tried everything and nothing is working, try going to see Dr Wendy. You might be surprised at what you find is contributing to your condition.
