I made the deliberate choice to train with him over other martial arts instructors or schools due to the extreme depth and breadth of his knowledge and skills. I've been a student of Wushu at his academy since its inception in 2014, starting at the age of 70. Aside from the Taichi students, most of the students are kids. I get a good workout each time in class. Wushu training helps me sustain, and even improve, coordination, balance, flexibility, strength, cardio-vascular function, metabolic health, body weight, can-do attitude, determination, and cheerfulness. Also, fighting ability. It helps me to stay young. Training alongside young students is an enjoyable and invigorating experience, which also helps me to stay young. Shifu Gao is good teacher. Many of his students have won medals in domestic and international competitions. He projects an atmosphere of discipline that strikes a balance between traditional Chinese (too harsh) and contemporary American (too reluctant to criticize). Dave makes everyone feel welcome, but for those hoping to play better table tennis, he is an excellent coach. Dave is certified by the International Table Tennis Federation as a Level Two Coach. I have been taking lessons from him for two years, and he has definitely improved my game.

The Dublin rec center gives you a free in-body test when you buy fitness passes which is a very…read morenice little perk but it's almost impossible to schedule it. I tried calling both the people (T & H, for short) who administer the test to schedule it and neither one called me back. I also texted one of them (H) and never heard back. So I called the rec center and they gave me the email for H. I emailed him and he replied and we scheduled it. Then, two hours before the time we had scheduled, he emailed me and said he would be teaching a class at that time and could I do it myself? I had never paid attention to the set-up of the procedure so I said no. So he said he would get someone to cover for him and he'd be there at our scheduled time. I got there early and waited about 15 minutes before I went to the front desk to tell them I needed help with the scheduled test. The person followed me back to the in-body room and pointed to a man and said "That's H". So he was out in the hallway having a conversation and I was waiting (at that point nearly 20 minutes) for him. He came in and gave me the test. Some version of this happens every 3 months when I buy new passes and have to run the gauntlet to get my free test and it is extremely frustrating.

Warning to all. It has been (6) months since my wife's and I's wedding, and we have been dealing…read morewith reviews left on The Knot trying to be edited by this venue to hide the many issues we had at this venue back in May. First off, the venue was less than transparent in the contractual terms on the contracts. There are many things that they did not make us fully aware of before taking a 50% deposit such as the fact that they literally do nothing as far as set up and take down at the venue and all of the little extra fees for every little item that you would need as part of your event (to help you out though, it is still just cheaper to buy everything on Amazon and resell on any online marketplace rather than rent from this venue). Then we got to the day of the wedding. First off, the day of the wedding, the water was completely out. My groomsmen and I couldn't take a shower until the water was turned back on (1 hour before the event started). Needless to say, everyone was freaking out. We were literally joking about having to potentially take a bath in the hot tub which was literally the only thing in the men's clubhouse that actually had water. Not the sinks, not the showers, nothing. On top of that, numerous facilities of the men's club were broken anyway and couldn't be used as we were told would be available the morning of the wedding. It was an outdoor venue and it had rained the night before, but with grass being in the outdoor section, everything should have been fine, except for the fact that half of the aisle way where the bride and bridesmaids were going to half to walk through in their dresses was completely covered in mud. Why? Because they failed to maintain and reseed rather large divets right in the middle of the aisle way. When I asked if there was anything they could do, they simply said that they weren't responsible for that. I literally had to run to Menard's to find large cuts of AstroTurf to cover these spots. Fortunately, of all of the places in this review, Menard's is awesome and they have 8x8 cuts of turf for $20 each. It completely saved the day. The grass was so dead, that I needed (6) cuts to completely cover it. So you don't have to do the math, that is 48-feet of turf that had to be used to ensure a bride did not get her dress muddy, no one twisted or broke an ankle, and that we actually left for the venue to reuse so as no one else had to deal with this. Chances are they threw it away, but we tried at least. We used a website that most couples getting married are familiar with, The Knot. They are now trying to remove and hide our review and experiences at this facility. They even tried to claim that we didn't actually have an event here and didn't have a contract. After having to provide them with a copy of our complete contract back in November, they began trying to claim that our experience was not real and that our review did not meet their "Review Policy Requirements." The simple fact of the matter is that the venue is less than upfront about all of the nuances of their convoluted contracts, the facility is less than helpful at making sure you have what you need at your wedding, so be sure you have the full support of a wedding planning team to help the day of, and be prepared for various components of the facility to not function correctly the day of. It is unfortunate to see a website like The Knot take this approach that they have as well, but people need to hear what issues that they may face on one of the most important days of their lives with friends and family. Hope this helps everyone make the right decision.
