I've been intrigued by the Lilly Pad's concept for quite a while and finally made it out there for…read morethe first time last weekend with a large social group. Right off the bat, I noticed large swaths of swarming bugs, but I wore insect repellent and walked away from the evening with not a single bite. Pretty amazing. And also, bugs are to be expected at night in the summer when a restaurant is directly on the water. There were also kittens living under the deck there, and I hope that once they are old enough, they find loving homes. The orange baby in particular looked terrified when he was on the deck, racing around away from the noise. I felt so bad for him and just wanted to scoop him up. They only seat full parties, so once everyone was there, we made our way to some picnic tables. Some folks in the group had chairs with seat backs, and I was jealous of them as someone with back issues. Since I was pretty exhausted, I stuck with water for my drink, though everyone else loaded up on shots and cocktails. The cocktails looked so tasty and refreshing, and I'll definitely need to try them in the future. People gave rave reviews. For food, I ordered a small caesar salad and a pepperoni Detroit-style thick pizza. Both were quite good, and I believe it was the first time I've tried Detroit pizza. They offer pizza in traditional style also. I had leftovers for a few meals' worth. I also ordered a cinnamon roll to go, which I ate for breakfast the next morning after nuking it for 20 seconds, and it was delightful. Service was great, the prices were reasonable, and the views make for a serene, casual dining or drinking experience. I'd definitely return.

Excellent spot for water view. All outside restaurant. No indoor seating. You can text them but…read morethey don't usually pick up. They do text back. Service was excellent and attentive. Great place for families and a date night. They have special events so check out website. I gave it four stars because the crabcake was a little fishy, but the other food was good.

The sign was nothing but a worn banner, but enough evidence that it did exist. Inside is a relatively small retail space that held a few cases for some of their baked goods and the counter case for primarily their cakes and flan. Out of the items there, only two appeared lively. The flan and the tres leches cake. The house likes both, but I opted for 3 slices of the tres leches cake. It ran just over $10 for the 3, which seemed quite good, considering the size of the slices. The trip home was considerably happier, knowing that I purchased something all would love. Unfortunately, the same could not be said once we took our heaping first bit. We found that one layer of each slice was lacking any of the moisture and flavor this cake should have. It was literally just white cake, minus any real flavor. The bottom layer, depending on which slice you received, ran anywhere from modest to reasonably well saturated tres leches. The icing was a little over the top, but still pretty good. That one layer, though, ruined the experience for my wife and son, which resulted in me having a piece the day after. As for the young lady at the counter, she was delightful and was impressed that I spoke Spanish. My only additional request from her would have been to clue me in about the state of the cake! Might give them another shot in the future, if I happen to have a need and am close to their location. Otherwise, I'll stick to my go-to place for delightful Hispanic cakes.

Craving BBQ? Backwoodz is your place! The brisket with the fat cap on is AMAZING! So flavorful!…read moreCame in super hungry after a long travel day, and that first bite was heavenly. No sauce needed! Another standout was the cucumber & tomato salad which had just the right amount of vinegar. The green beans and the cabbage were tasty, but just a tad too salty for me. I can't fault them, as I rarely use salt, it's likely my palette that is off. The pulled pork was excellent, but needed sauce. Alas I cannot have sweet sauces. I then got the idea to combine the pork with the cabbage and found it similar to the experience of eating luau pork with poi. Better together! I added the leftover vinegar dressing from the C&T salad to the green beans and found that also was a hit. The desserts were very tempting, but I opted instead to order enough brisket and pulled pork for the weekend. It's proven to be very filling!! I also can't say enough about the staff. So genuinely welcoming, helpful, friendly, and clearly proud of their product (as they should be!). Put a smile on my face and will look forward to returning on future trips to Richmond!

We ordered the brisket dinner and the pulled pork dinner. Both meats were very dry and you barely got any BBQ sauce to go along with it. The fries were probably the best side. The baked beans had an interesting flavor, not one that we preferred. The Mac n cheese was fine, but nothing much there. The coleslaw was decent. I think those giving this place 5 stars don't really have much to compare it to. I guess all of my days in Austin, TX ruined me! Probably wouldn't recommend but, if you're looking for standard BBQ, then it may be your thing.
