I called Tony to get a quote for a front differential rebuild on my truck. He insisted I bring the truck in for him to look at so he can quote the repair, understandable. Before he took my keys the day I was dropping it off, he started to guess what's wrong with it from the symptoms I was telling him. I left the truck with Tony and he kept it for several days. I followed up to check on status several days later and ironically he said they just put it up on the rack to inspect it. I was quoted $3k to rebuild the front differential and a second option of a used one at around $1500. I decided not to do the work by Elite since rebuilding it was extremely too expensive compared to other shops I called to get an idea and of course I didn't want a used major part on my truck. Tony wouldn't release my truck without a $98.00 inspection fee that he NEVER mentioned when I took the truck in. You charged me to tell me I need a front differential rebuilt when I already told you I need the front differential rebuilt. Long story short, he's mercurial & a rude person. Stay away at all cost!!! Continental Transmission at 72nd & Harlem Ave. rebuilds the exact differential for $1,500.00 and that's exactly half of what Tony charges for the same exact work and they will inspect anyone's car for free. All the other shops I called in my area do free inspections too. In my case I knew what was wrong with my truck and told him what my maintenance mechanic said that doesn't do drivetrain work himself. You can call a bunch of other drivetrain shops and inspections are free and most likely 1/2 of what Tony charges for the work going off my personal experience. Tony, if your shop charges an inspection fee, that's your right. But, at least let your potential customers know up front about the inspection fee and not SURPRISE them at pick up or hold their vehicle hostage unless they pay. I'll be filing a claim with the BBB as well leaving a review on google to let others know your shop is not a professional shop and you are not a straightforward untrustworthy person. Too bad there is not a ZERO star option. Consumer beware ************** read the comments from people who had issues with Tony not his family and friends reviews praising his shop. Get quotes from reputable shops and check their google and yelp ratings look close at the 1 stars and how they handled situations and check his BBB profile. I had 2 car's transmissions overhauled back 15 years ago when Tony/Owner was in Alsip IL. Back then I was Completely Satisfied! He called the day after the cars were towed to his Shop. Explained in detail (actually too much detail in a very good manner) what the problem inside the transmission was BEFORE the transmission was removed! It was obvious this man knows transmissions! He provided a verbal Estimate detailing the parts required inside the transmission. He also explained Elite Transmission uses OEM parts and provides a 2 year warranty. I authorized the overhaul of my transmission. Tony phoned me the next day and advised me car required a new transmission mount for an additional $45.00 and NO additional labor. both cars were ready in 3 days after our first teleconference! Just last month my 2015 Chevy Silverado with only 95,000 miles was "vibrating " after 40MPH and my check engine light came on. I phoned Tony, learned he moved the Business to New Lenox. Same phone number from 15 years ago in Alsip. After explaining the vibration and check engine light on Tony advised me to get the car scanned for the check engine light and call him back with the "codes " from the free scan at Auto Zone parts store. The codes were P0700 & P0740. Tony knew immediately what was wrong! He advised me the vibration (which I thought was an engine misfire or a rear end going out) was my transmission torque converter failing. He requested me to check the transmission fluid and call him back with the color of the fluid and make sure fluid level is good. Turns out the fluid was brownish (he required Red) Tony went into a 10 minute detailed breakdown of my failure. He called the vibration a shutter caused by my torque converter failing. Tony explained the repair process and all the GM parts needed. He gave me a price of $4,500.00. I shopped around and found his price was $500.00 too high. Then I called the other Shops back and learned they do NOT change the internal computer and they do not use GM parts and they don't even do the "required updates " Tony had explained. Also Tony was the only Shop that provided a 2 year warranty! I dropped Truck off on Sunday and my Silverado was ready Wednesday that week! No ups/no surprises. Elite also requires the vehicle return in 2 weeks for a Quality Check. Elite Transmissions is truly ELITE! Don't get jacked around by unscrupulous Transmission Shops. GO TO ELITE TRANSMISSIONS!!! read more
