Ignore those reviews that harbor fear! I walked for an hour before breakfast and despite the outskirts-of-town nature of the area felt safe (it's a CITY; keep your wits about you and be CORDIAL to strangers). Although it's ok we moved on for our 2nd night I was a tad disappointed we couldn't extend our stay thru Saturday night as they were fully booked. To begin with, although the lobby is a bit dated, the inside is super clean. Our room had an updated bathroom, which was executed well. The room itself was also VERY clean, much better than some of the other CS we've stayed at. The location too, has easy access to eateries and wherever else you might need to go, thanks to the close proximity of SR 12. It's a 'no brainer' for us where to stay on our next visit to Yakima.
