When I'm not working, relaxing, dining, or volunteering, this is where I am…read more DAC has the essentials I need to stay in shape--or lately--take fitness to the next level. They have gear for everyone, except the hardcore powerlifter (meaning no 100 lb plates, jack racks, platforms, bar jack for deadlift loading, competition bench, or chalk stand.) They DO have squat racks, Smith machines, flat and incline benches, a range of dumbbells up to 140 lbs, and an array of basic HammerStrength machines. The bonus for me is that they have FreeMotion machines, which are the bomb for plane-and-range-of-motion training. They've also got assorted tubing, medicine and stability balls, and Bosus. In case someone from DAC reads this, it would be super-cool if you could install a TRX rack or two. Approximately half the work-out space is devoted to cardio machines, and there's an upstairs where classes are held. I always thought DAC was great for families. It's located at Cox Park where the baseball and soccer fields are. So, it's convenient if the family is involved in those activities as well. However, they do not have a pool; nor do they have a sauna, steam or whirlpool. No big deal for me, but some people demand those things.

The other day, a trainer was working with a client and acted like she owned the place. My buddy and I went to use some equipment in the same general area, and before we even got started, she waved us off and told us we couldn't be there -- like the whole section was "hers." Look, I get it. Personal trainers need space sometimes. Fine. But this is a public gym that everyone pays for. You don't get to block off a whole area and bark at members like they're in your way. If she had just said it politely, no problem. But the attitude was unreal. I'm old school. Basic respect goes a long way. This whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth and made the gym look unprofessional.

As someone who used to go to Lifetime right up the street, I am quite impressed by this gym. When…read morelifetime was starting to get a little too expensive I started my hunt for a new gym. This was one recommended to me by a friend, so I gave it a try. I am glad I did. Reasons I like this gym: usually not too busy (especially when I go) -- don't ever feel like I'm fighting over equipment; the machines are set up nicely and spread out -- you never feel like you're on top of everyone else; cleanliness is big -- have never felt as though the equipment, floors, restrooms, or locker rooms were dirty. All in all, I appreciate this gym for its convenience and numerous locations as well as its monthly price. You really get what you pay for with this one. They even have a membership option where you can bring a guest every time you go to the gym!

We attended the Surrender Yoga class with Heidi, and it was such a good experience. The class was relaxing but also really effective it opened me up and helped me stretch in ways I didn't even realize I needed. Heidi was calming, knowledgeable, and made the atmosphere feel welcoming. After class, we sat in the sauna for about 15 minutes, which was the perfect way to wind down. Before we left, my friend gave me a full tour of the facility. She showed me the different floors, the daycare area, locker rooms, pool area, pickleball courts, and the basketball court. Overall, it was a great experience, and the space felt clean, upscale, and well worth checking out.

The sauna is now closed and I went to an employee, Sam, and began expressing my concerns to the constant issues with the sauna. End of it Sam argued, didn't care and said it is my choice to be a member and I could find somewhere else. Sam doesn't understand I do my chemo treatment Monday afternoon and my routine includes coming to the gym for mind body and spirt before the infusion center. This is not about a sauna thing this is about a routine I've been doing for a year and some employee with zero care. Sam didn't know and doesn't care because Sam is all about Sam. Anyway end of the day Sam is right. I can choose any gym and just start a new Monday routine there. Please don't hire anymore like Sam. I just spoke to the manager who took time to hear me. Thank you for listening and hearing my words. She also shared with me her father's journey and hers as a caregiver. Real convo with a caring professional. As long as there is management in place like her this gym will only get better. Thanks lifetime and thanks Sam.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY - UNQUALIFIED INSTRUCTORS AND HORRIBLE OWNER/MANAGEMENT. Please…read moreread my full review to get a better idea. I'm happy to answer questions if you have any upon reading this review. My email is Courtney.bland01@gmail.com. I posted a Facebook comment on the gym's FB page congratulating one of the instructors who was graduating and moving away. I actually congratulated that individual on his accomplishment, but I also commented that maybe we would see more classes offered taught by one of their most loved instructors. Fairly immediately, my comment was liked by others (positive feedback), but then quickly deleted by management. The following day, I sent a private message. The owner (Butch) contacted me and asked that I give him a call. Apparently, I didn't phone him quick enough, so then I got a threatening message saying my membership would be terminated if I didn't call by the end of the week. I'VE ATTACHED SCREENSHOTS OF THE CONVERSATION. He is a coward who doesn't accept CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. He is unable to separate his emotions from running a business. He flat out refuses to put a suggestion box in the gym for anonymous feedback. Instead, he claims to rather have feedback given to him verbally or in-person. As you can imagine, not everyone is comfortable providing feedback in that manner. Take it from me though, if you want to work out at this gym, don't provide any feedback unless it's 100% positive. Anything less and he'll cancel your membership. ‍ I've also been told he canceled someone's membership for commenting that the new hire instructors were not qualified. On the subject of instructors, there are only 2 instructors worth going to and they are very rarely scheduled (I'm happy to provide their names if you want to contact me). The rest are simply former kickboxing members turned instructor who have no real qualifications and terrible music selection for a high-intensity workout! Try the Quince or midtown locations -- more qualified instructors and better management who actually LISTEN to their members!
