I took a class here via Classpass, but ended up loving it so much that I signed up to be a member. Carlton is the owner and is usually around to greet you, which makes this place feel welcoming and friendly. All of the fitness instructors are also great. Don't be deceived by what you see on the outside, but I was surprised that there's another entire floor in the basement with lockers, equipment, and studio for classes. While it may be your typical gym, what really made it worth it is that you get unlimited classes ranging from cycling, HIIT, pilates, boxing, TRX, yoga, and more. Plus, the classes are small, so sometimes I even get a 1:1 session. All of the instructors have their own personality, but they're all super encouraging and friendly. I'm not usually someone who enjoys going to fitness classes, but all that has changed since coming here. Finally, the gym is well kept and clean. Everyone gets a personal sanitizer and towels to use. It is never crowded and just feels like where all the locals hang out. Highly recommend if you live in the area (but not too much because I don't want this place to get crowded). read more

Great local place to achieve all of your fitness needs. Nice management. Friendly. Feel very comfortable there.

Hey Carlton (the owner), It's Jeff. I just stopped by with a groupon to become a new member. I didn't need you to say "Hello" or "Welcome!" but you're a big, strong guy, so I get it (no body shaming intended)! After you denied my groupon, I was surprised to see how angry you became when I asked, "why?" I believed you when you said you canceled the deal, but it's not my fault that Groupon didn't get the message. If you had mentioned what deals or rates were currently available, I would have listened and likely joined. I really need to start working out and your gym is closest! Oh darn! Update: My wife just bought this deal (I haven't been able to tell her about you yet)! If she stops by before coming home, please do not be rude to her too! She's a very lovely woman. Here's the deal that is still active: https://www.groupon.com/deals/elite-fitness-studio-4?deal_option=a015571d-cf80-4e51-98ab-9539659410f7 read more

Quaint Gym in the middle of nowhere but I absolutely love this place. It's not big but it has every piece of equipment that you need. They also have really good classes with great times for people who work. The front desk are absolutely amazing and friendly. I'm kind of sad that I moved or I'd literally stay here forever. Also, the real cool thing is that there is a great pathway to run and the visual is amazing. I usually drop my keys at the gym and go for a run to the piers and then start my sets. read more

This is a great local gym. Owner is super nice and welcoming. Great cardio, weights and classes. Love the easy FOB access. As for Covid there are lots of extra preventative measures in place...including whole room UV air sterilization, hand sanitizer everywhere and safety protocols related very clearly upon signing up. A well run gym! read more

Elite Fitness Studio - Disinfectant for each member:) - Gyms Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Fantastic gym, HIGHLY RECOMMEND! My wife and I have been members for 5+ years and Elite is by far the best gym we have ever been members of. Elite has all the equipment you could ever need, great trainers (Ben!), and management is highly attentive and responsive (Carlton especially). It's a clean, well kept facility, you won't feel crammed, and it's great for everyone regardless of fitness/training stage. Elite has been so good to us over the years, especially during COVID. Can't say enough great things about them. They live up to their name. Thank you, Elite! read more

Used a trial membership and was inclined to continue. Good equipment and layout. Unfortunately I had found an online deal that was the responsibility of the gym to manage and I was turned away. Typical gym scam read more

Great gym tucked away on Union St in the Columbia Waterfront District. Due to COVID and my old gym collapsing, I hadn't been to a gym in 8 months. I really enjoy this place and they keep things very sanitary along with having modern equipment and a very nice staff. Recommend it. I won't miss doing outdoor workouts, that's for sure! read more

Wow! We are visiting from Indiana and needed a gym for a week. David could not be more wonderful, funny and accommodating. His gym is perfect. It has more than you'll need. Take his classes! I took a Pilates class with Tessa. I'm going to work with her online as I have some issues she can help me with. I feel like the luckiest athlete to come across this gym in Brooklyn. I'll be there everyday while im in the city. I hope you go. It's welcoming, clean and the equipment is top notch. read more

Please do not join this gym no matter how convenient. The owner is creepy and follows you around everywhere. He is obsessed with his gym and has put signs everywhere. Bad machines, worn out, filthy expensive for nothing. Two bathrooms which are always dirty and near to no machine is in good shape. read more

I taught yoga at Elite for six years. I never had any complaints until the new manager started working there a while ago. He verbally abuse me and abruptly terminated my contract. I know I was not the only instructor who was verbally abused there. The owner, ignored what happened and sided with his manager. After my contract was terminated, a few of my students decided to terminate their contract. The gym decided to charge them early termination fees and refused to show them their contract. If you work there and a conflict arises, you will be treated very poorly. If you are a client, know that your instructor's contract can be terminated without any warning. If you complain, you will be told you should reconsider being a client of Elite. It is a pity that a modest neighborhood gym is showing such low ethical and human standards. read more

Decided to try a new spot and was happy to learn about their TRX Core class via ClassPass. It was farther away than I thought it was but no harm no foul. I arrived just under 10 minutes before class time and it took the woman at the front desk forever to enter me into their system. 2 minutes before the class she directed me to their lower level where theres an open space with gym equipment, a small spin studio and a studio where the class that I was taking would be held. There's also a locker room with 1 bathroom stall, 3 shower stalls and electronic lockers, most of which do not work. The TRX Core class was a 30 minute ab class and lasted 30 minutes. It was a small class with only 6 people plus the instructor. It was a decent workout. Bring your own towels. Not sure that I'd be back due to the distance and "meh" facility . read more

I really wish I could like this place because it's close by making it extremely convenient. The actual gym is nice and has all the machines necessary for a good workout. The problem is the staff, or I should say, the owner David who is so arrogant and displeasing that he ruins it. He's totally rude and obnoxious and acts like he's doing you a favor by allowing you to use his gym. I also find that some, not all, of the other staff members are not as cordial as can be but I think that comes from having to work under this boss. Linda is ok, but Danielle seems to have an atitude most of the time, but I don't blame her because I couldn't imagine what working for a guy like him would feel like. However if you're a decent looking woman David will probably be very nice to you so you might have a different perspective because he will bend over backwards to "help" you with your workouts. He actually seems borderline perverted the way he oogles over the women at the gym. Pretty women are the only members he seems to be nice to and "help". As convenient as the place is for me, I cannot give this man my business. I really wish someone else bought this gym, I'd be first in line to sign up again. read more

I just moved to Carroll Gardens from NJ and was very worried that I would not be able to find a gym because their are know big chain gyms close by. I tried a few gyms around Court St area that were okay I guess but then someone told me about this studio and I am sooooo happy to have found a great place to exercise. Try some classes on a free pass and you won't want to go anywhere else. The owner is so very nice and their are a lot of trainers if that's your thing. They also seem to be a place that welcomes everyone, you won't feel left out or out of place. read more

I'm so glad that this gym (that I'm kicking myself for overlooking for years) is in the neighborhood. Clean facility, friendly staff and great classes! I'd been doing classpass for years and Elite offers everything I was getting- great yoga classes, HITT, Tabata, Cycling -and quite a bit more that I haven't tried yet. As a member, I'm paying less than 1/2 of what I was paying for a yoga membership and classpass and am getting all that plus access to a variety of machines. Win win. Recommend! read more

Elite Fitness is a great. Friendly and comfortable environment. There's something for everyone. Personally, I don't enjoy working out. Yet, the TVs and magazines provided by the gym made the hours fly by. I took about a summer's worth of personal training sessions that helped me tone up fairly quickly and the things I learned from my trainer, David, helped me train myself to workout the right way. Also, the staff provides babysitting services, a wide variety of kids and adults classes at every level, and towels with cleaning solution at every machine so all the equipment stays immaculate. If you live in Red Hook, Carroll Gardens or Cobble Hill, it's an easy walk down Columbia Street. Definitely recommend. read more

I have been going here for a year now and really like it. I have yet to take any classes so this review won't address those. The pros are numerous: very close to my home on columbia street, affordably priced, and - most importantly - there is never a line for a machine or the weight rack. I can generally walk straight to the free weights and take whatever I need. Only occasionally do I have to contend with someone else and, even then, the wait is seldom bad. This isn't a gym for the body building crowd, so you also won't get any attitude. There are a few cons, in the spirit of full disclosure. The place is rather small (which I like, but some others might not) and there isn't a true bench area, so squats and deadlifts must be done on the smith machine. It's also a local gym, so it's not open on holidays, which is totally reasonable but sometimes frustrating. However I couldn't recommend it enough if you're someone like me - trying to get in good shape, put on a couple pounds of muscle (or shed fat), but don't need to dedicate your life to the inside of a gym. Plus everyone who works here is very friendly. A good vibe all around read more

BEWARE OF THIS GYM, I signed up for a 3 month membership and they in turn FORGED my signature on their Terms and Policies document and began automatically withdrawing dues from my account every month. This went on for a very long time before I noticed it and when I confronted the Owner (David) he acted surprised and said that he would look into it....his solution was to return half of the money he and his staff took from me. I pushed back and stated that these were FRAUDULENT CHARGES and that I deserve to have 100% of the money returned to me...David responded by telling me to go the Better Business Bureau. He has completely refused to return the money he took and I am now forced to go through legal channels. Everyone knows what a pain small claims court is...David probably counts on that and he hopes that most people will not follow though and just accept that they got beat. What David and his staff did is criminal....DO NOT allow these people to have access to your Credit Card numbers and/or any personal information. They cannot be trusted and I would be shocked if I was the only person who has experienced this type of treatment from Elite Training. This is a completely legitimate post and I have the documentation to prove it. The forged name and signature is pretty special....they spelled my name wrong. If you're going to forge my signature at least take the time to spell my name correctly. read more

Amazing experience every time!! David is awesome and always takes time to teach you something new. All the classes are great and leave you wanting more! Recommended to anyone near or far! read more

This isn't the place to go if you want to enter World's Strongest Man or Woman Competitions, instead its a fairly well equipped, well staffed, courteous fitness locale. They have a pretty broad, well spread class schedule, allowing you to hit something during the day, a weight circuit, cardio room with all the trim, spinning, and a dance studio which is often open. Their etiquette and courtesy guidelines may seem silly but if you want to find a place that curbs the egoism of working-out and spandex, then this is the place for you. Be sure to swing by Northfork Bank on Court and 2nd in Carroll Gardens before you join for a 2-week trial pass too. read more

I've been a member here for a few years now and this is the first gym that I've haven't "dropped out" of. The place is small and intimate, not intimidating. You don't see "muscle men" and "Barbie dolls" walking around, just locals who want to get in shape. No egos. The people who work there know you by name and are always so nice. The classes are small. The instructors work with you if you have special limitations (bad back, knees, etc.) And they have classes for your kids, too! I would have given it five stars if it was a bit less expensive, but overall, I enjoy coming here and working out. read more

I really enjoyed my personal training at this gym. The facilities are nice, never busy and I liked my personal trainer. However today I was treated with a complete lack of respect. There is apparently an issue between the gym and my trainer and I, as the customer, am caught in the middle. I understand that I am not a full member of the gym since I only do personal training there. But showing up to a 9am training session only to find out that my trainer is no longer allowed to work there and as a result I need to leave without any sort of explanation. I understand the gym's personal trainers are private contractors but come on. I didn't do anything wrong and I'm caught in the middle of their dispute. A kind explanation would have been better than a rude and awakard conversation with the front desk at 9am where I'm told to either pay or leave is embarrassing. My advice to Elite is to take a hard look at the relationship between customers and the trainers that you allow to train at your gym. No one else should be caught in the middle of a situation like this. read more

This place s great! Everyone on staff knows your name and they have lots of suggestions to get you fit and keep you fit. Linda Piro gave me a tour and this place is bigger than it looks from the street. It is well maintained and clean and they have everything- weight machines and tread mills and spin classes and free weights. I'm hard to please so this is a great review! read more

I joined Elite Fitness about five months ago and I love it. It is usually quiet and I have no trouble using the machines and weights that I want without having to wait like I've had to at other gyms in the past. It is clean and they have a variety of classes and equipment. The staff is always friendly and know everybody by name. Linda and Cat are always there to offer assistance, support or friendly conversation which makes working out that much more enjoyable. So happy I joined. read more

I am a huge fan Elite Fitness Studio, not only for its new and clean equipment, but also for its incredibly knowledgable and welcoming staff. I've been a member of the studio for a year now, and within days of joining, my husband and I were greeted by name. I've lost about 15 pounds in the year I've been a member, and I attribute that to the enjoyable experience I have when I come to the gym. I've never liked going to the gym, but I always look forward to my time at Elite. I've been a regular in Cat's spin class, and she is the BEST. She kicks your butt and makes you laugh the entire time, almost making you forget that you've been doing a hardcore cardio workout for an hour. I LOVE this place :) read more

I've been a member at elite for almost a year after leaving equinox. The classes are absolutely wonderful and the gym is clean. It rarely gets packed is is very convenient to home. For the price, it really doesn't get any better. read more

I have gone to this gym for 3 years, and it certainly has its benefits, especially as it is not crowded. One of the reasons for this is likely because of the complete disregard for the customer. I am a member of Equinox, and a part owner of another gym. Despite any issues with other gyms, I have always been treated with kindness and respect. Elite fitness criticizes me, scolds me like a child, and makes no effort by even being the smallest bit accommodating to keep me as a member. This is sad for me, as I have enjoyed having this close to home. Luckily there are other gyms and studios. I recommend going to them. read more

Excellent gym, very clean, equipment is well-maintained, never crowded, plenty of room on 2 floors. David does a great job, by far the best gym I've ever joined! read more

This is a very clean, well maintained, uncluttered gym whose owner and staff maintain a welcoming attitude. The atmosphere is relaxed but the instruction and guidance are not. Staff members are serious about your goals and they know their stuff. I am starting Month #11, a new goal in itself for me. With Pilates I learn something new regularly from Delfina. Same thing happens with general conditioning and balance. I just started Yoga with Shannon and it is apparent that she has a lot to offer the old time practitioners and newbies alike. I have had a full share of gym experiences at various pricing, and this one has been the best, and with reasonable pricing too. read more

Good little gym that's never crowded. No big perks, but nothing egregiously wrong with it

Really great facility. My favorite part... It's rarely crowded! (so please don't join and ruin that for me!... Jk, jk, jk!) Took the TRX class today. Good for all levels. Down to earth. Not too serious. Not too lax. -The place is clean and the staff is nice. -Locker room is adequate. Lockers have built in locks which is super convenient. There are showers, though I haven't used them. -Hours of operation are pretty standard. All in all, best gym in the immediate area (I live VERY close and that convenience is immeasurable for me. Huge plus) Only cons for me: -No traditional/proper bench press. They only have a smith machine or you can use 2 dumbbells and a standard bench. -No towels. Not a big deal, but worth noting. -Tall people (6' 6" or taller): The ceilings are very low downstairs, but only in the hallways. No biggie. Just keep your eyes open or you will smack your head on the exit signs. (I am 6' 8") read more

I am giving the gym 5 stars because of the customer service. I signed up for this gym for 1 year. I then renewed my membership for a second year, only to find out I had to move a few months before the contract was to expire. I alerted a staff person to the issue, but for whatever reason, was never given a letter to end the gym contract -- this was likely both an oversight of the staff, and me for never following up. I just discovered last week that I had unknowingly been paying monthly membership for 1.5 years after moving. I should have discovered this before -- and had a number of financial stressors to make this particularly difficult for me. I was expecting the gym to be difficult to me about this issue based on the other reviewers' complaints. They were completely the opposite -- utterly accommodating. The owner, David, looked me up in the system and discovered I had not visited for 1.5 years -- and was immediately apologetic. He took partial responsibility, and contacted the staff person, Linda, who remembered a phone conversation with me from 2 years ago! Moreover, they were apologetic, efficient, and offered me 1 year of monthly reimbursement (or, alternatively, a smaller lump sum upfront). For a small gym in this neighborhood, they are lovely, kind, and considerate. I would recommend this gym not only for the environment and classes, but also for the delightful staff. read more
