I'm 28 and tore my ACL this past winter playing sports…read more Dr. Key did an allograft ACL replacement and a lateral meniscus repair on me earlier this year. His work was impeccable, he had a great idea from my MRI as to what exactly would need to be done before I went under the knife. Post-surgery, he prescribed a timely (four month) rehab of the injury by fielding questions in follow up visits. He was extremely friendly, wise, experienced and professional the entire way. In four months, I am now ready to get back to competition. I will highly recommend Dr. Key to friends & family in the future.

I had a knee replacement done by Dr. Key in September 2004. About six weeks after, my knee showed…read moresigns of infection. He did not treat that infection as anything more than a Surface wound. It went away however for year and a half afterwards my condition gradually became worse and worse to where I could not walk. I continued to go back to Dr. Key and ask him to look again at my knee because it hurt so badly and he dismissed it saying that it was my back that was bad not my knee. I went to the back doctor but not before I got an x-ray of my knee from my general practitioner to bring with me. after one look at my back the doctor said that it wasn't my back it was my knee and when he looked at the x-rays he said that my knee wasn't even attached. I ask him why Dr. Keyes Would not have known that and he said to me "he would've Known if he had seen your x-rays". I stopped and thought about it and realized that in a year and a half after my surgery not one x-ray was ever done by Dr. Key to look at my knee. There are more horror stories out there that I've heard since my own but putting that aside they'll have to write their own comments I just know that that lead me down the road to what I have now in my knee which is only a hinge and permanent disability on top of that. so if you think about going to this doctor don't, stop and run the other way fast while you still have a leg to stand on!

Scheduling never answers the phone. Always says they are too busy and will call back. Left 3…read moremessages over a 4 day period as well as sent a message through online scheduling. If you are so busy you can't do basic customer service you need to hire more staff or stop expanding your practice. After reading other complaints, even though one of the doctors was recommended by my surgeon, I will be going elsewhere. It is shameful and if I was one of the doctors I would not tolerate patients being ignored. You can and should do better.

This is the SECOND time this has happened in the three years I have been undergoing care for my issue. I had to drive to the main campus, 40 min one way, and physically speak with someone who responded with, "We get that a lot!" Wait, what? YOU KNOW THIS IS AN ISSUE YET YOU DO NOTHING ABOUT IT??? Fast forward to appointment time and I arrive 40 min early as we had a last minute out of town funeral to get to and explained our situation hoping we might be able to be taken back early, SINCE NO ONE ELSE WAS WAITING TO BE SEEN YET, only to watch two people, who arrived late for their respective appointments go before us. I could understand maybe one of them, but both when they were clearly late is ridiculous. THEN, appointment time comes and goes and I'm finally called, thinking I'm going into the exam room, but NO, to take an X-ray. I've been here an hour, it's 15 min past my appt time and NOW you're getting me for an X-ray? But wait...there's 14, yep FOURTEEN, patients waiting for X-rays. Beyond furious!!! The ONLY reason I stayed is that my doctor told me he'd do an injection two to three times a year if I needed it and I'm going out of town in three weeks and desperately need it. This practice is too big to care about patient needs anymore...sad because there really are good doctors here. Hoping since it's a physician-owned practice someone will communicate how there long-time patients are being treated, but it's doubtful as I'm sure they're making money and could care less about repeat patients or the people they have referred over the years...

Originally I scheduled my appointment with dr. Gurley in the same doctor's office because I heard…read morehe was really good but the day before my appointment with dr. Gurley I got a call from a receptionist at that office telling me that dr. Gurley will not see me for my ailments because he does not specialize in my area of pain. So the receptionist told me that they would recommend another specialist, dr. Wheeler which I came to find out later he was a pain management physician not a specialist. That is my first point of how they misleaded me and mistreated me. My first appointment with dr. Wheeler he was 40 minutes late and then spent less than 10 minutes with me, his recommendation was that I go to physical therapy. I had already had that recommendation from multiple doctors and the reason I was not in physical therapy at the time was because I was in too much pain to be able to workout at a physical therapy establishment. Near the end of my appointment I mentioned a separate pain in my leg. And all he said was "I will just check on that when you come back in a month." I have been going to multiple doctors and have recently found out that my leg pain is unrelated to my other pain. The second time I went to Wheeler and he was actually willing to discuss my leg pain. His diagnosis was to just shoot it up with pain meds so that I will feel better for a month. Keep in mind I had already given him an MRI for my other pain which was completely unrelated. However I did not know at the time that pain in your leg cannot be connected to pain in your neck. Wheeler never mentioned that to me, I guess he just assumed I would figure that out. I thought both of the pains were related to each other. After the second appointment Wheeler's recommendation did not change he wanted me to go through physical therapy and he wanted to shoot me up with some stuff he was not very descriptive about in my spinal cord and in my left hip. Then he left the room sent in a nurse with the recommendations on paper. I told the nurse I will not just willy-nilly have needles be stuck inside me just because dr. Wheeler stretched my leg a couple of times. And then I told the nurse that I will not be able to go to physical therapy without something to ease my pain on days where I cannot get out of bed or drive anywhere let alone workout the extremities that are crippling me. The nurse said she would send him in. When he came back in his first words were "I'm going to need a drug screen from you if you want any medication." I asked him why he would need a drug screen when no other doctor has ever asked me for a drug screen before prescribing me drugs such as muscle relaxers and opioids ( not opiates) he completely assumed I was only there to get high. Which he later apologized for after I literally Freak the Freak Out thinking that I would never be able to get any medication for my pain because I would not give up a drug screen. that is what he made it seem like. After that whole Endeavor he did write me a prescription for Tramadol after he realized that I was not the drug addict he assumed I was. And on a separate note he told me that Tramadol was an anti-inflammatory not an opioid. But I did my own research and found out that Tramadol is 100% an opioid. So yeah he definitely lied to my face right there. But the worst part about this person I don't even have the respect for him to call him a doctor because he completely denied me care. Went completely against his Hippocratic Oath. When I heard from a different doctor that my leg pain is totally unrelated to my neck pain I called dr. With his office and asked him to order an MRI so I and my future physical therapist can determine what exactly is wrong with me so I can get fixed. His response to this was shooting me up with some needle will diagnose what is wrong with me he told me that injecting me with something that will relieve my pain will also diagnose why my pain is there at the same time. I for one find that incredibly hard to believe. I'm no doctor but I know there's no special needle out there that can diagnose things just by being inside you. He told me he would not order an MRI and that my insurance would not pay for it I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City it is really really good insurance. Dr. Wheeler is just an a****** who obviously does not give a f*** about the pain his patients are in. At least that is how he made me feel 100% after he profiled me as a drug addict. Please Dr Wheeler is terrible find a different doctor if you can. I literally went to dr. Wheeler because I thought he was a specialist and he was going to do something different then a primary care dr. would do. But no he gave me the exact same diagnosis as my primary care doctor and performed less tests then my primary care doctor did that is complete b******* and a lack of competence in my opinion.
