I love coming here, and do so every single time I'm in Charlotte on a weekend night, which is often lately. Very appropriately named because this really is the epicenter of Charlotte. It's lively and fun and modern and futuristic and pretty amazing. The whole multi-level palace is filled with hot people and scandalously dressed people, especially on warm nights. I made some nice friends around here (of both genders, for a change). It is the heartbeat of downtown Charlotte and a very non-traditional party area. Sort of like a party area of the future. If a mall had an older, drinking crowd and was outdoors and full of clubwear then this would be it. For this reason we love walking around here, even though parking is extremely difficult here on Friday and Saturday nights, so be careful. We've actually parked illegally and gotten away with it on several occasions, but I wouldn't recommend that to others. Lots of cops around here so don't do anything stupid. The design means that if somebody crazy decided to commit suicide, or if there was a fist fight, then it would be very easy from the higher levels to plunge down a long, long way, and there's a lot of people wandering in the courtyard below, so that worries me a tiny bit, and what about the very very drunk people leaning against the railings with a 100 foot drop down onto concrete asphalt right below them. It does worry me slightly but it's still an absolutely wonderful place.

We drove an hour and will be doing so forward to come here. We were assisted by Juliette and the owner with the utmost care. When I explained her issue the owner steered us away from a more expensive shoe we were interested in and suggested several that were a better option to keep her toes from pointing inward. The recommendations were spot on and we were amazed by how straight her feet were and how she wasn't falling in the shoes. The fitting process was very low stress and truly excellent from these women and my under two granddaughter had a fantastic experience!! This is definitely worth the drive and the shoe/ sneaker/ sandals/ water friendly and dress selection were amazing!!! We will be back!!

Frankly, I don't shop for clothes or shoes very often so my wife had to point me to this place as I only knew the Best Buy existed in this shopping complex near across from Northlake Mall off Harris Blvd. The selection of shoes was very broad with a variety of price ranges from which to choose. This included a decent array of size 14's which can oftentimes be a problem to find. I found a pair I liked quickly, tried them on, they fit well and there you have it, sold! Throw in that she got a new pair of brown boots for the buy one get one 50% off deal and we both walked away happy.

A light from heaven shown down with all it's glory as she held up my beloved chevron black and white maxi skirt. "YES" and I snatched it. Thank the good Lord it was a large. I would have probably bought it anyway if it were a small and squeezed my thick'um thighs in it. (Don't judge...you know you've done that before). Here's where I get irritated. I'm happy and I asked the sales girl to hold it for me as I need to go back and get my wallet. I could have sworn she rolled her eyes in her head and I politely said that I would be back...no need to worry. She just grabbed it and said "Name?" wow....someone's got the Monday blues. I love that the space encourages wandering. Take your time. Explore the storefronts. Grab a coffee, a cocktail, or a bite to eat. The skylit arcade, brick walkways, and European-inspired atmosphere make it feel unlike anywhere else in Charlotte. The real star here is the experience. You can stroll from Tryon Street through the arcade and emerge into Brevard Court, a lively courtyard filled with outdoor dining, people watching, and some of Uptown's most beloved local businesses. It feels intimate, walkable, and full of character. A word of advice: parking can be challenging. This is not a destination I'd recommend driving to unless you already have a plan. The best way to experience The Alley is on foot while exploring Uptown. Park in a nearby garage, take the light rail, hop on the streetcar, or make it part of a larger walking tour of the city. As someone still enjoying the process of discovering Charlotte, places like this make me appreciate the city's history and personality. It's compact, charming, and full of stories.
