I'm very picky when it comes to haircuts and barbers. In my hometown of Newark, New Jersey ... The city was saturated with great barbers throughout the city and you would have a plethora of barbers to choose from. To be honest, I couldn't say the same in Florida. When I lived in Deerfield Beach, there was only one barber shop that was great but being here in Central Florida, I hadn't found a spot to call home for my haircuts ... Until today. My son and I went to Elite and I have to say, I was not disappointed AT ALL. Great barbers, a very welcoming environment and great service. The price for the cuts we're amazing and absolutely worth the price of admission. It is a very family-friendly environment and a place you can take your kids. The barbers (all of them) are very great in their craft and despite a full house and as a walk-in, I was out in less than an hour. They spend time on you and focus on your haircut and you would walk out the way I did ... Feeling like a new person. I paid $22 which included my haircut and my beard. I paid $18 for my teenage son because it was only a regular haircut. I'm confident enough as an Elite Yelper the follow......Elite is the best in the Altamonte/Maitland area. Hands down. I debated on writing this review because my experience at this barbershop wasn't bad... But my haircut was... I called the shop beforehand and asked if they cut women's hair. I am natural and my hair is a tightly curled afro. I was told they could accommodate me and after a short discussion was advised that picking out my own hair before going there would be helpful. I went later that week with no appointment as I was told that was okay. I was in a chair within 15 minutes. The man who cut my hair required another barber to come over and translate what I wanted done due to his "bad English". After another small conversation, the translator told me I was in good hands.... I wanted a trim. The man who cut my hair used the pick comb a handful of times as he shaved my hair away. My sides which were to be rounded out, we're basically shaved off. And there was so much patting going on...that's when I should have known it was going wrong. I walked out looking presentable, but when water touched my hair, that's when the result was really revealed. This was my second natural haircut (the first guy I found moved away unfortunately and he was amazing). I'm disappointed every time I look at my hair (I had to cut pieces off so I can go out in public) but I'm rest assured in the fact that my hair still grows pretty quickly. I just wish they would have turned me away instead of giving it a go... FYI, I added a picture...if it's not showing, well... Came here yesterday asked just for a blow out and line up my beard.... got done the price was 30 bucks just for a blow out I didn't even get a full haircut so I thought that was crazy then I get home my neck wasn't even shaved my beard was so crooked. I was just disappointed for 30 bucks. Blowout came out good. But my beard was so crooked and just wasn't happy with the service. My boyfriend came in as a walk in and he was seated immediately. We came at the right time when one just became available. They were all so nice and warm with the welcoming, I didnt feel out of place being a female in a barber shop. We were in and out in about 30 minutes and my boyfriend kept bragging about how good this guy was, I didnt catch his name, but saying how he cut it perfect and how great barbers are so hard to come by these days that he just loved the cut overall. They give 2 dollar discounts on cash payments and I definitely recommend checking in on yelp before checking out! ;) my boyfriend said he would come back for sure when he's on this side of town and in need of a haircut. We came randomly when we were leaving another store and we used yelp to find a nearby barber and we are beyond happy he found this place!! Ohhh one thing I really loved, they had air compressors up in the ceiling so as they go along, they blow the hair off you fellas. Awesome place. I'm from out of town and needed a quick cut. There was a little bit of a wait, 6 people in front of me, I only waited 15-20 minutes since they had 6 barbers. They all looked extremely happy and enjoying themselves. Dads had their sons with them as if it's a ritual for them to be done at the same time. And price? $15 for cut and straight edge lining!! I waited over an hour with only 4 people ahead of me 5 barbers were working. 4 people randomly walked in and skipped everyone in line including myself. I would highly recommend this place. Gio took good care of me and exceeded my expectations and I don't think you could go wrong with any barber here.
