Turkish cuisine is just up my street, said one of my friends from Lark lane. It's up mine too I replied, just not as literally as was the case with my right honoroble friend, but still. Ever since my first holiday to Turkey it wasn't just the perfect beaches, weather and people that made me fall in love with the place. The food was central to my affinity with this beautiful country. It always seems to look uncomplicated until it enters your mouth, at which point the complexity of the plethora of flavors literally send you in a confused journey of delicious pleasure. With Elif, presentation is not the star of the show in this restaurant. The star of the show here is the food and nothing but the food. The artistry is in the cooking and the seasoning and not decorating the food. I am a massive fan of this type of philosophy. Fine dining has its place, but the majority of my fine dining experiences have been aesthetic fraudulent exercises. Where food was decorated like a piece of art but tasted like feet. The concept here is simplistic they cook the food slap it on a plate for you and let the food do the talking inside your mouth rather than in front of your eyes. Average price per head would barely amount to less than £15 and I can assure you you will leave with an appetite so fulfilled you may never eat again for a week. I am trying to think of something to recommend but for the first time I won't bother. I guarantee whatever you order from this humble abode of a restaurant you will be entirely satisfied.

You can smell Elif as soon as you start to walk down Lark Lane from the Aigburth Road end! You're mouth will begin to water instantly as you look in and see a huge hot plate Barbecuing special Turkish meats and delicacies for everyone to enjoy! Then once you've tried it you'll want to go back every time you find yourself wandering down Lark Lane because this place is truly brilliant. It's great for big groups of people and it's always mad busy, the service is excellent and the food is great! The food is prepared right in front of your eyes in a clean environment which is always reassuring when you go out for a meal! I would recommend the Ali Nazik as a starter and the Patlicanli Kebab as a main! They offer a host of traditional Turkish dishes and Mezzes as well as a great wine list!

Hello mates, first of all this place is very mediocre as most of my family said from this place…read more First of all, we got the margarita pizza and it was decently good. I was very hungry from traveling all day seeing the Beatles sites so I ate it anyway, but it was very mediocre. It tasted like Chuck E. Cheese pizza quite frankly, my brother got the americana pizza. It had pepperoni on it. He said it tasted junk but that wasn't the end of the line my other brother got the vegetarian pizza he described it as frozen. He didn't like the pizza because it tasted too dehydrated. It did not have wet sauce. The pizza stayed completely intact. If you held it completely upside down, the toppings were like glued on, and they didn't really have a particular taste. Everything just kind of tasted extra chewy, but without any sort of spice, we tried the different sauces in order to make it taste a bit better and I have to say that adding the tomato sauce on top did help to Live in it a bit, but it really still fell short of something worth paying for it to sit down restaurant. My mother got lamb kebab. She described it as good and it was all right so nothing really crazy if you wanna get a bite I think you should go somewhere else personally but I hope you enjoyed my review. Cheers!

Everything was so flavorful without being too spicy -- just perfect. We started with Hummus topped with Minced Meat, because you really can't go wrong with hummus. It was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. They served a fresh, vibrant salad alongside -- the perfect combination. Next, we had Sarma Chicken -- tender chicken wrapped in a tortilla with cheese, topped with yogurt gravy and their special ingredient (which I'm convinced was roasted aubergine). That smoky touch made the dish unforgettable. Such an amazing combo -- hearty, satisfying, and so well-balanced. Portion sizes were generous -- honestly enough for 3-4 people, especially if you're light eaters like us. The ambience was just as impressive -- beautiful furniture, plenty of sunlight, and a calm, cozy vibe that made the experience even better. The staff was super friendly and helpful, guiding us through the menu and helping us make the right choices. Service was fast too, which made the whole experience even better Overall, it's a 5-star experience for me -- from the food to the atmosphere. Can't wait to go back and try more.

It is always busy whenever I walk past and I guess its because of the simple, no-frills attitude of the place. Although not quite a 'greasy spoon' cafe, it operates along the same premise: big cups of tea, hearty breakfasts served all day and a solid menu made up of chip butties and jacket potatoes. You could probably eat for two for less than a tenner as well, which is always worthwhile in my book. Those of you who are avid readers of my reviews will recall the Italian Bistro I worked in where I was sent down the road to Hardman Pizza every time someone ordered a pizza - this is what the Bistro has become. Having worked in the grease-encrusted kitchen for a while I was a bit cautious to eat anything produced in the same place, however I was happy to find out that the old bistro was gutted and all new stuff brought in for Quick Chef, so there are no worries about cleanliness any more. PS, if you ever did eat in the Italian Bistro, please disregard anything I've said about the hygiene. It was lovely. Honest.

There seems little to add to what Rebecca has said already but to reiterate that this is the ideal location for mopping the morning after whilst also emphasizing that the coffee here is genuinely some of the best that I've tasted - a rich, dark roast and for a tiny fraction of the cost of a mug from Costa or Starbucks. Really brilliant. A lot of people will tell you that the Magnet next door does the best hangover breakfast in Liverpool but I have to confess that I much, much prefer the fry up at this unassuming little place.

Established as a local, cosy Greek Taverna, this restaurant has since expanded and revamped itself…read moreto be a modern equivalent of the typical Greek. The interiors are cool and clean with a more minimalist feel than the usual trellises and vines and pottery that you're accustomed to. The atmosphere here would suit a place in the city centre rather than suburbia - the staff are friendly and efficient, the music evocative but not overpowering and the general feeling is that you can have an authentic Greek experience without someone smashing your plates. The food is amazing - I'm a big fan of Mediterranean flavours and after spending some time living in Cyprus I'm an even bigger fan of Greek and Turkish tastes. For meat lovers, the Keftedes meatballs is a good place to start. Lefteris' house special Ouzo Chicken is also something not to be missed, although I'm a fan of the traditional Mousaka , Kleftiko and Stifado. If you're a veggie, you can't go wrong with the Houmous, Tzatziki and Tahini dips to start, and then there's veggie Mousaka or my favourite, Dolmades (stuffed vine leaves) which are delish. Prices are reasonable - you're looking at around £14 for a main - and if you're a fan of all things Greek, this is somewhere you must try.

The food is great with a wide range of meals no matter what sort of thing you're into - there is plenty to choose from, meat, fish or veggie. The restaurant has had a makeover not too long ago, which has proved to be a part of Lefteris' success along Allerton Road, as it now has the look that you seem to need to make it down this popular stretch. My main downfall is the fact that they only accept cash - not ideal when you are large party dining out.

Full occupancy of the twenty or so covers by a mix of Middle Eastern guys and construction workers…read moreon their lunch break indicated to me that this place was worth checking out. As a vegetarian, kebab shops obviously tend to push me to the edges of their menu. But I had decided that I was going to tough it out whatever, even if that meant a meal of fresh naan and salad. With no falafel on the menu, no real cold mezze, and the advertised hummus unavailable, things were not looking good. However, surprisingly, I ended up enjoying my best meal out in a while for the sum of....£2.50! Here is what can happen in place like this - due to kebabs being the main attraction, salad (albeit basic) is complimentary and stewed vegetable 'sauces' to moisten the meat are also priced very cheaply. So my meal was two naan, a lush vegetable stew of mainly aubergine and tomato plus the complimentary salad. The naan was just OK, but still a fresh bread. But the vegetable stew with just a hint of heat - I can hardly think of anything more soothing to digest! A man definitely needs some meals like this to stay in balance. I will definitely be back - I will probably have the same thing on rice next time. Or perhaps there are other vegetarian options ready to serve from the small bain marie, we shall see. The Turkish (or whatever) guys running this place are fairly friendly, and there is a nice balance between a majority Middle Eastern male clientele, but the construction workers, a townie couple, some Chinese guys and myself blended in OK. Food is mainly kebabs, biryanis and I'm not sure what additional takeaway sundries. One final observation - this part of London Road boast six or so businesses that seem strongly Middle Eastern - this place, the adjacent 'Roman' restaurant, Marmaris grocery store across the road, a barber, a dessert café. Watch out for my upcoming reviews of these places.
