Not to mention a bunch of "regular handyman" things like 5 ceiling fans, some barn doors, a bunch of lights etc. Eli - no problem. Well listen Eli, we actually want this to be a giant claw foot tub with this very specific tub filler BUT also have an overhead shower. Eli - no problem, we'll do this and this. Eli, will this completely non standard faucet that we found on Etsy work? Eli - no problem. Also - can you replace these lights in the kitchen with something using LED but dimmable? We really don't care too much what they look like just that they are better than these ones that don't work. Eli - no problem, do you like these? Sure, that perfect. Eli - great I just ordered them for you they will be here tomorrow. Listen Eli I know we just asked you to install two new toilets and didn't bother to mention that they had bidet seats that need power to them. (30 minutes later) Eli - I saw that, I already installed new outlets in each bathroom, we're all set. Listen Eli, I know you said we should get that built in icemaker that is 25" tall, but it turns out I got this one that is 33" tall. Can you figure out how to make that work. Eli - once again, got it done. I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. I see some of these negative reviews and it just sounds like they are reviewing the wrong person. I can't think of something large or small I wouldn't trust Eli with. Even the project we just finished which had a major hiccup when we found a cracked pipe in the second bath - Eli called one of his network of pros and they came out and took care of it. (See pic for the work they did!) It's ridiculous, the guy was basically our GC, designer, and life coach as well as the person who did the work! Special shoutout to Patricia who helps with the scheduling and is super responsive and super nice, even made us some nice candles and bath bombs for the new tub! We contacted Eli The Handyman about the possibility of replacing our bathroom fan with one that included a heater and replacing some quirky LED track lights we'd had installed four years ago in place of fluorescent bulbs. Because of all the electrical uncertainties, we tried first to contact a Yelp-recommended electrician, Top Notch Electric. Dale replied to our questions regarding an estimate for the project that his fees were $70 per hour, so we paid him his one-hour fee to come to our home in order to view the project and provide an accurate estimate. He sent a text the following day with a confusing, extremely high quote. When I asked him to follow-up with an email that included more detail, he went dead. What a wasted of money that was for an estimate that was unintelligible! BY CONTRAST, I went to Eli's site, ensuring that this kind of work was covered by his firm, uploaded photos of the work we wanted done and got very precise quotes (for rather less than Dale at Top Notch Electric had confusingly indicated). We accepted the date for the installation, received a reminder call the afternoon prior, and welcomed Eli on the day of the project at the precise hour specified. We had an issue with some water seeping under the French doors in our master bedroom and onto the floor during heavy storms. I researched a handful of different handyman services and contacted them all online. He found the most creative and least labor-intensive solution to the problem, which didn't at all involve the door sweeps, which I originally thought might have to be replaced. Edit - I bumped up from one to two stars - adding a star for Eli's attentiveness to my issues, which I really appreciate and which gives testament to the positive experiences other folks have described. Eli has personally contacted me through a Yelp message to follow up on the issues I've described. I've edited the original review to include his responses in the appropriate places. Ultimately though, I still have to rely on the feedback of my tenants, who were just not comfortable with the experience they had. And since I cannot be there in person to handle these things myself, I must rely on their judgment. Original Review: I am so disappointed I didn't get the five star experience most seem to enjoy from Eli. My husband and I moved to WA and are renting our town home in Mesa to some friends and a few repair jobs had built up. I first tried calling Eli and after the phone rang like 20 times, there was finally a voicemail I could leave a message on...for a minute I was worried I had the wrong number since it rang so long. **edit: Eli has said this has been addressed so that when they cannot answer the line due to attending other issues, like repairs, it will be picked up by voicemail earlier.** I then realized I had accidentally switched two digits when leaving my phone number in the message so I followed up with an email. I got an email reply from Eli fairly quickly - a promising sign - confirming he got my messages and that he would be contacting our tenants to set up an appointment in order to take a look at the issues and get us a quote. According to my tenants, the guy who showed up appeared to have no idea how to address the issues I had outlined. The light pull cord on one of the upstairs ceiling fans was broken (it no longer responded to pulling) but the light and the fan still worked. This guy's solution? Replace the entire ceiling fan. Uh, what? If you Google this issue it's a fairly easy repair to the pull switch inside the light cover (which is exactly what the handyman we ended up hiring did). **edit: Eli says the guy did indicate the pull switch could be replaced but suggested replacing the entire fan because it was older and this was outlined in the quote. Unfortunately, this is not what my tenants understood from their conversation with him and I did not receive the quote.** The guy was also supposed to look at the side gate as the hardware had become loose. He didn't even look at this. **edit: Eli says the man he send out did look at a rolling shield door that covers the glass sliding door leading out to the patio. This was not in the service request as we already had someone from the Roll-A-Shield company scheduled to come look at it. This could have been a mix-up on the tenant's part, but my email request did specifically mention the side gate on the patio, not a rolling shield door. Eli says the quote would have recommended us contacting the Roll-A-Shield company for this issue, so I do appreciate them recognizing repairs outside their skill set and giving proper referrals.** It has been over a week since the guy was out there and I have yet to hear anything from Eli or anyone else regarding the quote I requested. **edit: Eli says he did email me the quote a few days after the guy was out there, but I cannot find it. It may have been swept up by my spam filter or Eli said its always possible they accidentally misspelled my email address when sending it out.** Since my tenants did not get good vibes from this house call, I contacted another handyman service for a second opinion and the guy has already been out, given me a quote, and done the repairs for a really good price. read more

Work done was acceptable, though it will take a repeat visit to correct the mishung towel rack and towel dispenser that is falling off my wall. The patch work was as expected, though a little pricey given the size of the repair. Be prepared to have this be an all day event, to hang a TV, hang two towel racks and a TP dispenser and patch 5 2x6" drywall holes took from 8am-245pm. The main gripe was how the job was handled afterwards. I told the guy that did the work to just send me an invoice and I'll take care of it. Between that day 11/29 and today I've had: 2 invoice payment requests A text message 2 phone calls All demanding payment. I understand as a small business you don't have unlimited funds but I've worked with contractors before and I've never been hassled for payment like this in any respect, especially not over $341. I really hope that treating me like a scumbag that doesn't pay his bills was worth it. I had requested an estimate to have a window busted out, the header raised and a sliding glass door installed that quoted $2,700 in labor. I was going to ask you to do that next week, but I will have to vote with my wallet and go elsewhere. So to summarize, yes they will do the job, and do it reasonably well. I was not blown away by it and I had to clean up the mess (there was overspray all over my electronics from the texturing) but it was reasonable. God forbid you don't pay him IMMEDIATELY ON THE SPOT. So there you go Eli, I just finished paying your invoice while I'm in the office. You have been paid your $341 immediately at the cost of a future job and a good review. read more

Once to hang my flat screen tv and a very large mirror, another time to hang curtain rods and some pendant lights and finally a third time to install a dog door. They are consistently punctual, are available to do work on Saturdays and always do a fantastic job. What more could you ask for? I can't believe I haven't reviewed these guys yet. I called a while ago for a quote on a dog door installation. We had an old doggie door that desperately needed replacing, but couldn't find a decent door that would fit the hole. The existing hole was between the floor and a window, and I didn't think we'd be able to fit the new door I had purchased in the space. The old door was also framed in and installed pretty poorly by the former homeowner. I called for a quote thinking I would have to patch up the old hole and cut a new hole in another location which included moving an electrical outlet. The lady on the phone gave me prices for all of the scenarios depending on what the handyman found and we made an appointment. I fully expected this thing to end up costing hundreds and hundreds of dollars and, as a result, had put this project off for a reeeeally long time. I thiiiink it was Dana that came out (can't remember because it has been kind of a long time). He took about 5 minutes looking things over and told me that we could make the new dog door fit the old hole, which was the absolute cheapest solution by far. It took him probably about 45 minutes all said and done. It looked (and still looks) fantastic. They could have easily gotten a loooot more money from me for a much bigger job, but instead were honest with me. If I ever need handyman services again I will absolutely call these guys. I called Eli for the first time to help out with a few jobs I had been dreading. I needed a new garage door opener installed and I also had a shower that had a steady drip. Two jobs that I had felt just about anyone would get it right no matter who I hired. A third job however was to install a new range hood but instead of venting back into the house like my current hood, I wanted it vented outside. This had me nervous but I decided to go with Eli based on his Yelp reviews. I have to say that all three jobs were executed perfectly. He brought the range vent up through my cabinets and into my attic where he went up through the tile roof. Certainly not a trivial job but the final result looks like it was installed when the house was built. The venting was taped off perfectly and the holes he drilled perfectly fit the tubing. He showed up on time to the minute and did a great job cleaning up all of the dust and debris from the cutting and drilling. The shower cartridge was a 15 year old original so thank god I did not attempt to do that myself. He ended up having to drill it out as it was locked in tight. I am really happy with the all of the work and he and his co-worker were respectful of my home and I felt very comfortable with them in my home. I am impressed beyond words at the job Dana did at my house today. We had him remove a phone jack and patch up the walls; the texture is so close no one will ever know the phone jack used to be there. We also had two TV's that we wanted to hide the cords to. Hey Yelpers, It's now March 2016 and I had Eli come out to perform some troubleshooting regarding a ceiling fan. I still love the guy. Here's the great things about Eli the Handyman: He shows up right on time. It's clear from watching him work he takes a craftsman eye to detail and quality. Eli is very methodical in this troubleshooting - he should have been a research scientist. Another great thing about Eli - he does not overbook and sub-contract out the work. He's in demand; it takes 6-8 weeks in advance to set something up. But this is a good thing as it reflects the value placed on his services. I plan to have Eli come back this summer to install some skytubes and possibly some kitchen work. To give you a scope of his range Eli is currently working a kitchen remodel, a whole house remodel as well as the minor things. To me it's very important to work with trustworthy individuals. Eli has always delivered. He comes in at or below estimate. And if the job turns out to be more complicated, I totally trust what he has to say. Another thing I like about Eli - he doesn't walk into your house and start making a laundry list of all the things that could be fixed. He just comes in and does the task at hand. Needed to find a handyman to help me fix up a short-sale home I purchased in Mesa. I live in Washington state, so don't know anyone there.
