I stopped at this one because of all the "spinners" by the side of the road. Those fun things that spin or move in the wind. They can be soooo cute in the right yard (which we do not have sadly). They also sell mums and presumably other flowers in the Spring. The plants looked good. I think this is a greenhouse first and foremost. They have some creative ways to display your plants as well. Very fun. As I was here in late Sept, the pumpkins and gourds were out and looked great and healthy. Inside there are all sorts of trinkets and other little chachkies (sp?). I found this store to be a very fun place to stop. Lots of cute things. Gave me some ideas. But the pricing did not allow me to purchase anything. Just too high a price point for this gal.

I have also been the recipient of their delivered flower arrangements, which as others have agreed, are lovely to receive and give. My mom is my source of all things gardening, and she told me to go to Story's. I looked up the website (which is great) to see what they had in stock. Under "fruiting plants" in nursery stock, I found what was basically a comprehensive list of all the fruit I could think of...so we just decided to head over and take our chances. When we arrived and walked around a bit, I realized that they actually HAVE pretty much everything on that comprehensive list, because this place is massive and awesome. I don't think I can possibly list all the things they've got, but I feel pretty confident saying that their selection is better than anything you might find in the surrounding area: Trees, shrubs, evergreens, bushes, perennials, herbs, succulents, conifers, flowers, vegetables, vines...you want plants, they've got the plants. They've also got all the garden supplies you need...plant food, fertilizer, seeds, pesticides, tools, a gorgeous selection of pots, and hooks, and garden gnomes, and more. I didn't know I needed netting to keep the birds from eating my blueberries, but they did, and they've got the netting you need. I should note that my mom frowns on netting your berries, as she believes we need to share with the birds...but she's just a much better person than I am.

It was my first visit, and I was amazed at the thousands of varieties of stunningly colorful annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, and more. Rows and Rows of beautiful flowers everywhere. We ended up buying four flats of pretty pink and purple perennials @ $2.95/flat. The Raspberry Parfait Dianthus will really beautify our mailbox. They also have a store with all sorts of home decor and furnishings. Note that Coward Farms is open during the year in three distinct time periods - Spring from May 1st - July 3rd, Fall from Sept. 1st - Oct. 31st and Christmas -starting the Friday after Thanksgiving.

So I'm usually pretty frugal when it comes to my Christmas Tree. I've been going to the same place…read morefor years and paying $25 for the tree but this year the picking were pretty slim so we took a ride over to Vermont and stopped at Pleasant Valley. All of the trees under 11' were $50 and they were all beautifully shaped. We ended up with an incredibly fragrant Balsam fir. We cut it down and they stopped and picked it up from us with a cart, no dragging the tree through the mud to the car. And an added plus, they wrap the tree so it's easy to get in the car and bring it home. We also picked up some incredibly well priced maple syrup from the farm down the road.
