Beyond this, however, the number of volumes of used books you'll find here is impressive. Some things are a bit pricey, but you can find something on almost any subject. The owner was the one attending the checkout when we visited and he was quite efficient, polite and gracious. It can get a little crowded when busy, but this place is worth a stop just to appreciate the ambiance. Take a climb to the loft and take it all in for a moment.

They have computers with internet access which are free if you have a library card, a decent selection of books including local interest, fiction, nonfiction and children's books. They have audio tapes and large print books and you can borrow a selection of dvd's and cd's for a very reasonably price. The librarians are extremely helpful and knowledgeable and it is always peaceful. There are spaces where you can sit to read as well.

The librarians are however very willing to order in anything you need. Since it is affiliated with Stirling University they can access a wider range of books than you first think. The library is situated next door to the cafe which is useful if you need a caffeine boost to help you through those long hours of study.

I love Westhill library!…read more The credit crunch has ensured that I stop buying books and magazines and start finding cheaper sources of entertainment and the Westhill library has helped! It is a very small building and you need to access it from the main entrance to Westhill Academy. This is a shame as I think some people might miss it. The library is not big enough for the size of Westhill and I do not think it gets the best and newest books, however, it is the staff that make it great. They are always willing to order books in and look for something for you. Also you can order from the catalogue online from the Aberdeenshire Council website which means you can order any book and they will get it in in no time. In the library there is also free internet access and you can hire DVDs (for a small charge) and read magazines. I only wish there would be budget to make the library bigger to store more and more books!
