The reason for the bad review is that, despite following posted procedures to the letter, they continued to charge my credit card monthly membership fees for 5 months after I cancelled my membership. After the first charge, I contacted the owner, and she promptly re-credited my card. I thought, hey, no problem, people make mistakes. But there is simply no excuse for that same mistake to occur 4 more times. Unacceptable. The only way I recommend this gym is if your intent is for lifetime membership, as it appears that's what you'll pay for.

The sauna is right next to the waiting room and treatment rooms leading to extremely dry heat making my throat sore and my body sweaty. The spa has some renovations and improvements to make. The cleaning people were mopping the locker room floors I slipped and fell. There was not a single yellow caution "slippery when wet" sign. They couldn't have mopped after the spa closed? Last but not least the front desk I made the reservation with did not communicate to my masseuse leading to some bumps in the road there. Only go to this spa if you have no other options and want to listen to loud speaking Spanish male maintenance workers clank around, possibly slip and fall, smell some horrible smells in the restroom and get a sore throat.

I got a great workout, especially up in those mountains, and I would love to find another gym like this in my new location. I think the thing that moved me the most was the fundraiser they had for a member with disabilities while I was there, and it just kind of solidified the nature of the place. Leadville itself is a gem. I know a lot of the long-term residents don't feel that way (as in any town), but as a visitor who travels a lot and stays long-term in places, I want to say that this town is my favorite in the US for its personality, its honesty, its residents, its community, its location, its history, its quirkiness and the fact that you can just relax and enjoy. When I retire, this will be where I go to.

They have a lot of great facilities, weight room, cardio available just lots of stuff. They have this cool, gymnastics area. It's really fun to watch. The cool thing about it is there's a water park available and a swimming pool. The hot tub is really big. They had the cutest little recreational river. It's really small, but it's really relaxing. I saw they had a rock climbing wall as well, and it went pretty high. Amenities are pretty good. Locker room could be a bit cleaner, but it was cool that it was available and they had two different size lockers available as well. Bathrooms were pretty clean. Recommend if you're in the area and you need a gym. Or a fun time with the kids.

Entrance is via a key card, so the owner has to depend on the gym members treating everything with care--and they do seem to. This little gym is much better than the three college/university gyms I have used, and definitely MUCH better than Lady Nautilus or the programmed machines that tell you to "speed up" or "slow down." Altitudes also has a variety of free weights and benches. Altitudes does not have any of the singles bar atmosphere I have seen at other gyms. Everyone is there to become fit (or more fit). Masks were worn inside, but accommodations were made to give people space to workout outside. All throughout the week, the coaches and class members were upbeat, positive, fun people to be around, and the coaches were gave solid cues where needed. Thanks for a great week!
