Edward Jones - Financial Advisor: Ryan M Thornton

Edward Jones - Financial Advisor: Ryan M Thornton

I've been under advisement with Ryan for a relatively short time, but in that time he has given me…read moresome outstanding advice. I first sat down with Ryan Thornton last year to discuss retirement funding as well as some general financial planning. Let me start by saying that I do NOT currently have a million-dollar portfolio (nowhere near it!). So, the time and attention Ryan gave me was my 1st glimpse at his good character. Being a small business owner, Ryan asked me a lot of very good questions about my business and gained a comprehensive knowledge of my business model moving forward. He also asked me about my investing experience, my risk-tolerance and all the other questions I'd expect from a good financial advisor. Then he asked me this: Do you have an "emergency fund"? I thought: "...is this a pitch for me to buy some special mutual fund or other investment...?". He then went on to say:"... my initial advice to you would be to create an "emergency fund" - perhaps in the form of a safety-deposit box where you can store an amount of cash equal to 3-month's salary...Before you start investing with me, it would be a good idea to have this fund set up to cover any unforeseen expenses like emergency medical bills, needing a new car after an accident, not being able to work for a time, needing or wanting to lend money to family member or friend in need...etc.etc. ..because it would give you some piece-of-mind of knowing that you may not have to dip into retirement savings if such things should come up..." - Glimpse #2 at Ryan's good character! (he has the long-term AND the short-term in mind) Ever since I finished raising the money for my "emergency fund", Ryan has been completely optimizing my modest portfolio. I happily pay Ryan the very reasonable monthly fees for his continued effort with this. I am over 50, and once again (for the 1st time in a long time) I am energized and inspired to invest in my future. I'd just like to say "thank you Ryan" for helping me create a realistic foundation with a realistic plan to ACTUALLY achieve my retirement goals! (perhaps a few less grey hairs along the way!) HIRE THIS GUY! (you'll thank him too!!!) Chris
