Incredible drink menu with fun names and great cocktails. Food was superb, well prepared, and perfect after a long day on the road. Been to 486 many times. The food has always been awesome and the view from the patio is amazing. However, it is the staff that brings me back. Recently, I dropped off my father (95 yr) and a friend (85+yr) for lunch. We had been traveling from texas to Oregon and we decided to make a pit stop and I'm so glad we did. I applaud this restaurant!!! In today's world everyone is understaffed , well this restaurant had great staff , and great food. The menu was limited and that's how it should be right now . Limited menus mean they can focus on quality. I'm hesitant of writing this review. I want a table outside next time I visit. To say the food was remarkable is a understatement. The crab and artichoke dip was amazing. I had a beautiful Pinot noir from Sonoma valley. My server was attentive and knowledgeable. My pasta was a perfect pairing with Pinot. What a wonderful dining experience. Really had high hopes for this restaurant perched on the eve of the snake river canyon with awesome views and an outside patio. Unfortunately, the execution was sadly lacking. It was ok till one main dish was delivered and then we proceeded to wait, and wait, and wait for the 3 additional entrees. They were not busy, maybe half full. Just really poor service. Terrific dinner here. The appetizer special was steamed clams in a garlic butter white wine sauce. Heaps of clams with bread for sopping up the sauce. The entrée special was prime rib (12 oz. cut $31 was my selection) and I had the tomato basil soup with it. I've heard that if a restaurant can make good soup, it's a very good sign. In this case, it is correct. The soup was delicious as was the prime rib. The service was as good as the food. Our server Ginny was fantastic. Very engaging and thoughtful. Like someone you could just hang out with. In fact, everyone was wonderful and considerate. If I lived here, I could see becoming a regular. The view was amazing. Ok there is not enough I can say about how cool this restaurant was. And really it wasn't just about the food but also the service, the beautiful views and the relaxing atmosphere out on the patio. They had a really diverse drink menu with wines from Washington's wine region, California, Italy and of course Idaho. Great beers and a house special Bloody Mary. We were visiting at lunch time and the menu had great options like tacos, wrap, sandwiches and salads. All of us truly loved our choices. I would really love to go back for dinner and see the view and watch the sunset sky. Beautiful artwork and landscaping around the area just make it a pleasure. I noticed a few different tables that where there to take there time and take in the beauty around them. This is a hard review to write, because obviously the view is incredible overlooking the canyon. You definitely have to see the view from this beautiful restaurant. We walked in and were told we could sit where we wanted and we chose the table in the corner (to be far away from others as possible because of Covid) and immediately wished we hadn't chose that particular table, because the waitresses fly in and out thru the doors that lead outside making it a noisy and disrespectful to diners. We have had our anniversary dinner here the past four years. in the past the experience was awesome from wait staff to food. This year however, was a real let down. Our night started out good - in the bar. My first drink was my usual lemon drop martini. Made well, sugar on the rim and a lemon wedge. Appetizer was ok. second lemon drop: cloudy, no sugar, no lemon wedge, and tasted like it was made with cheap margarita mix. Moved to a booth and ordered our meals. Was surprised when I found out that salads are no longer available with an entree unless you pay extra. I ordered my entree and a house salad with my meal. It came with tomatoes after I'd specifically asked for them to be left off. It also had no croutons which usually come on the salad. My spouse ordered the Seafood Linguine without the Parmesan cheese. It came with the cheese and had to be remade. Very good menu selection - I opted for the portabello sandwish (huge sandwich) with fried green beans (sounded interesting never had any before) and my lady got the Reuben... both plates were outstanding, exceeding my expectations. Visited this restaurant both days of our visit to the area. Tip: avoid booking with Open Table, our reservation was not in their system but they had room for us anyways , so it was not an issue. Our first dinner consisted of tomato basil bisque and seafood linguine for me: both delicious. My husband was disappointed by the ribs: bake, deep fried and then baked one more time. For such efforts, one might think that it would be very tasty, but it was not the case for his order. Our second dinner there, I chose the clams appetizer with the bisque and it was very good. My other half ordered the jambalaya. It was ok, I've had much better. A nice surprises was the butter/honey and huckleberry or was it marrionberry served with soft warm roll. I visit this restaurant every time I'm in Twin. The food is always great, I try something new on each visit and have never gotten something that wasn't delicious. The tomato basil bisque is AMAZING and I don't even like tomatoes! The view of the canyon is incredible, love to sit on the patio in the summer months. On this past visit, in October 2019, Nick was our server and he did an outstanding job! It is evident that he genuinely cares for his customers which is shown by the great, attentive service he provides the tables he serves. He was also very helpful with recommendations on the menu. I suggest you ask for him to be your server! On a side note, the crew that works the hostess/host stand need to learn how to greet customers in a timely manner when they approach to get put on the list/be seated...it gets awkward when you approach and just get stared at as if you're invisible with no kind of greeting whatsoever! Your job as a host or hostess is to make me feel welcomed into your establishment and that my patronage is valued & appreciated, this needs worked on...
