I booked and paid for the class online before attending the studio to secure my spot. This made it easier for me to come a little closer to class start time. When I got there I just gave the front desk my name and they found me in their roster. Showed up in athletic type attire and sneakers and learned a few new dance routines. Came out of this class happy, motivated, more limber, and feeling accomplished for learning some new moves. Did I say happy? Yes, just felt good all over from working hard, having fun, and getting my heart rate up. Parking is a little crowded here, but worth it for a workout or to learn some new moves. (From age 12 to 17 years.) At the time, Maria was teaching at Studio 5D. The environment Maria cultivated for her students was very toxic, degrading and belittling. The toll this emotional harm caused from Maria's negative and noxious environment was not only immediate but also long lasting into adulthood. It has taken me years to find my confidence and self-worth due to the constant berating and patronizing remarks made during dance class and rehearsal. It is extremely difficult not to start believing in the negative remarks when it has a constant presence and is coming from someone of authority. While these events did take place over 10 years ago, I cannot imagine Maria providing children a positive and healthy dance environment to learn, create and grow.

Vard and Lily gave us a tour of the studio. Lilly taught our lesson for the day. We practiced Bachata and Froxtrot. Both dances were easy for me due to prior training. The first three lessons were great with our instructor RoseAngel. With RoseAngel we had planned the fourth lesson to be mini-choreography for a song we were bringing. When we arrived for our fourth prepaid private lesson, Samantha stopped us at the door. She said they were going to switch it up today with a couple's workshop so that we can dance with other partners. When we said we were not interested, she said we will be charged anyway since they cannot guarantee private lessons, and they can only guarantee the time of the lesson. The whole point of this experience was to spend quality time with my wife. Instead without any notice in advance we were forced into an ultimatum to dance with others or lose our payment.

My nails were long so I only did a few easy ones since that was all I could actually use my whole hand for without breaking a nail-I know what a girl right???? lol but I know the pain of a bad break and I didn't want one. I went with my family and my boys had tons of fun-I did too actually! If you don't climb, they have a little bit of gym equipment and my little girl enjoyed jumping around on the padded area where the front of the rock climbing room is-it's like a padded floor for if you fall off the wall so you won't get hurt. I really liked the part where the assisted climbing is-a harness you hook yourself to and it's really fun to jump down with those. They also have a part where someone trained can assist you with the rope. They have to hold the rope steady while you climb. We will be back again soon! I recommend this for an outing with an active family or family trying to do a fun but challenging activity!
