That is why I looked for a Korean "guy" dentist to make my son feel less nervous, and I was recommended Dr. Bae in Dental Playground. I called the office and they said Dr. Bae is not available at the day I wanted to visit, but there is another dentist Dr. Lim is available, so I made an appointment with him for last Saturday. The ladies at the front desk were so kind, and the dental hygienists are also kind for my two year old son can be less scared for the dental treatment and x-ray. Even taking x-ray can be very scary for a little toddlers, so we failed two times before in the other office, but finally we made it. Dr. Lim was also very kind to my son, so my son opened his mouth very easily.(actually he never opens his mouth, so we need to force him to open his mouth in the dental office). All staffs and doctor made a warm and comfortable atmosphere, so I think my son felt less fear. Unfortunately, however, he had a cavity on his front tooth, so needed to get crown. I was also scared and worried that my son needed to get this kind of treatment, and also we need to pay extra to upgrade to white crown. At that time, the front desk lady Maria advised me they have a deal for the free upgrade for kids white crown with the positive yelp review. I am writing this review for this deal, but they also absolutely have the right to get a good review!! I will update after getting treatment this Saturday.

They sent me a wrong patient's EOB and bill in January of this year so I called the office and told them it can't be for us cuz we haven't been there for years. They put me on hold for a while and told me to discard the email because they sent me a wrong patient's (which is HIPPA violation). Then now they sent me another one saying that I have this crazy outstanding amount for just cleaning and fluoride varnish. The bill had "nutritional counseling" and "oral hygiene instructions" itemized and billed. I don't remember getting these services done at all yet they billed my insurance although rejected. Only after I asked about these services, they waived the fees. Just plain ridiculous on 3 year delay of the bill AND HIPPA violation on sending me someone else's EOB...all this headache for mediocre-level service. They just kept on making excuses for the 3-year delay as if this is normal practice. I would give no star if I could. You may get surprised with a bill years later so go find yourself a better dentist!

When we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the office: super clean and any kids paradise. They have lots of fun toys in the waiting room as well as a tv that was playing despicable me (love). We didn't have to wait long until they called us back to get some X-rays of her teeth. Yeah, that didn't go well. The staff was really great with her, very encouraging and patient but she just was not having it. Oh well, no big deal. They then let her pick which room: princess themed or the VIP dinosaur room. She (read: me) is currently obsessed with the good dinosaur so we climbed into the dental chair (which was actually a dinosaur, yes!!). They had a tv on the ceiling that was also playing despicable me (seriously, I love that movie!! I mean... My daughter loves that movie?) and gave her a minion to hold and play with. We were all settled in, having a grand old time, until it was time for them to look at her teeth again. Again, the hygienist was super patient and encouraging and made a little progress, but being a typical 2 year old, A was over it. They were able to quickly get her teeth cleaned and then dr Natalie came in to take a look. She is super friendly and knowledgeable and gave us some tips. (She also made me feel a lot less guilty that my 2 year old still has a paci. Hey, we're working on it.) Afterwards, they gave her a goodie bag and she got to pick a toy. And to my surprise, they gave me a goodie bag too for bringing her in the first time! It was filled with lots of good stuff any mommy needs (only thing missing was a bottle of wine ;)) We will definitely be back for her next check up in 6 months and hopefully there will be less crying from A. I love that they make it convenient to communicate by text, phone, or email. Dr. Sun is wonderful with kids and does such a great job making them feel comfortable while also taking the time to communicate everything clearly with parents. We've taken both of our children here, including our 18-month-old, and they were so great with him even though he is still so little! One thing that was especially huge for us was being able to get X-rays of all of our 5-year-old daughter's teeth. At a previous dental office, they weren't able to get all of them because of her gag reflex. Natalia was so incredibly patient, kind, and sweet with our daughter and was able to successfully get all of her X-rays, which was such a huge win for us! Everyone at Palm & Poppy has been so kind, patient, and accommodating.
