I had a reasonable cut and color at Moxy previously by Ashley in December 2021. But after…read morereturning from FL I needed a quick appointment for a color and cut which wasn't available with Ashley or Karen for 6weeks out, so I scheduled with Ari, the scheduler said to be "very qualified " ... for May 4,2022. I requested a precision "graduated angle cut" ..explained as such along with photos to show her. She misunderstood the color I  requested..not even offering the color swatches as typical...so extra time was added for it before the cut. It all took 3+ hrs in the chair... a shock at over $220 in cost. No small thing for me!  When she was finished she didn't offer the mirror to see the back..a hint I should've realized then. But  I  was so tired I just went home. Apparently Ari was inexperienced.  At home I got a good look at the back, totally disappointed at the choppy look... and blotch of silver in the back. So I called back for at least a "fix-it" cut. I was scheduled a week later, May 11, with Katie the owner. But!..her cut ended up even worse! Apparently not Katies expertise either.. as she suggested I ask for Ashley or Karen  next time. Still disappointed, I gave up and went home. I took photos of the back at the time but wasn't even sure I could trust someone to fix it .. Again! ..especially with the little hair I had left. I didn't even want it seen in public until it grew out for a proper professional cut. A couple weeks later I met my sister for lunch. She immediately noticed my hair was so short and a new color. She looked at the back and said "where did you get it done?"  After I explained the whole ordeal she said " I have to tell you,  it looks like how a little kid cuts their own hair; You should ask for your money back and let my stylist fix it!" Now I'm even more embarrassed by it! My sister's cuts always looked nice so I took a risk to pay for yet another fix it cut. The Moxy cuts cost me quite a lot in time, fuel to drive the 80mile round trip.. twice... And the embarrassment. Then the cost for someone to FIX it again. So..I took my sister's advice and contacted Katy, the owner of Moxy, to thoroughly explain my issue, asking a refund for the cuts. She adamantly denied it with a number of feeble excuses. I'd certainly never trust Moxy Hair Studios. The owner lacks ethics and integrity.

They double booked and rushed our wedding day without notice and promised a full day till 1:30pm but left at 11. They made us call people to get to the venue earlier that day because they were rushing the bride to get both jobs done before noon. Couldn't ask for touch ups cause we were told we're on a limited time line but was told we had and signed till 1:30pm. Makeup artist left at 10:30am to get to the next wedding. Couldn't recommend less. Be ready to pay for your own fake lashes and provide your own mascara and lipstick.

She talks me through every hair cut and color to make sure I'm getting exactly what I want. I look forward to my appointments every 2 months! While Pam has never done my hair, I have seen her cut/style many other people while Lisa is doing my hair and in my non-professional opinion Pam also has magic hands. I'm confident you cannot go wrong with either stylist at Karma Hair Studio, they are THE BEST in Grand Rapids!
