We moved here from CT two years ago. We were monthly members of Elements there so we signed up here too thinking that the quality control for these franchises was probably well monitored. WE COULDN'T BE MORE WRONG OR MORE DISAPPOINTED! At this location you pay for an hour massage but really get only 40 minutes...why? They take you to the massage room consistently 5-7 minutes late. Then they re-interview you for another 5 minutes. Then they leave the room for you to undress and don't come back for another 5-7 minutes. Then they tell you 5 minutes before that they're done and leave to get you a water. The worst part is you tell them you want to leave a 15% or 20% tip and they charge you the tip on the non-member price of the massage!!! What? Seriously? For a 40 minute massage? Ugh. Booked a couples massage for one hour. They ran my card afterward and did not tell me how much I was being charged, which was strange. I checked my bank account afterward. I found out I was charged $310 for a one hour couples massage. I called the business because I was sure there was a mistake. The person on the phone told me that's the going rate. I have had plenty of massages elsewhere and I can say it is NOT the going rate. That price is outrageous. It was a fine massage, but not nearly worth $310. I booked a massage yesterday after speaking with Kaitlyn the two previous massage therapists were booked that I had before. After listening to my needs including having back surgery she matched me up with Gwen and assured me I would be getting a therapeutic massage. After being called into the room I explained to Gwen what areas she needed to focus on and I would try to lay flat on my stomach but all of my massages have been laying on my side it is very painful for me to lay flat. She immediately told me she does not do side massages! she also said she would have to get like 5 more pillows!!? she was irritated to begin with when I asked her for another pillow for my head. Isn't a massage suppose to be what's best for the client? she was not empathetic at all! she went to the front desk to speak to her manager I got dressed and when I reached the front desk she was no where to be found! No apology from the front desk was told my account would not be charged and was handed a card with a different managers name on it to call. I guess if you have a disability this is not the place for you!! I will be trying Portsmouth I hope I have better luck there. read more

I was scheduled for a 60 minute massage and 30 minute reflexology today. When the office called to confirm two days ago, I asked if they thought I should reschedule as we were expecting a blizzard yesterday with up to 2 feet of snow. I was assured that wasn't necessary, and they would call in plenty of time today if they were not able to accommodate me. I got to the appointment a few minutes before my scheduled time, and was told my massage therapist wasn't going to be in. As you can imagine, I was very disappointed and upset that they hadn't followed up on their word. They did have a massage therapist to give me my massage, but no reflexology. Again I was disappointed, but grateful to get the massage. Tyler was amazing, and they did comp me an additional 15 minutes of massage. The women in the office were sincerely sorry for the confusion, and did everything they could to make it up to me. I left feeling much better than when I arrived, and will definitely be back. read more

Went to Elements with a gift card yesterday and had a massage with Gwen and it was excellent! The receptionist, when I called, asked what type of massage I wanted and I said deep and she chose Gwen for me. I arrived and was greeted and "interviewed" with the nice receptionist to help fill out a form and given the little tour with Joanne, a delightfully friendly, well-dressed woman. The decor is pleasant and environment feels safe and relaxing. Gwen consulted by my asking me needs, where I had pain, what I do for a living and excercise and what depth massage I wanted. From the very start she massaged with confidence, strength as knowledge of muscles and tendons. My hour massage was amazing as she worked spots I didn't even know needed it and released some deep knots. I never thought I'd join a massage membership but loved Gwen so much that in order to see her monthly and not pay the $100 (steep imo for the area and a chain type place but not for Gwen) I joined after learning it can be cancelled at any time and if I miss a month it holds over. I highly recommend Gwen! read more

All of the therapists that we have worked with have been actually quite good, some better than others, but for the most part, no problems there. The main problem with this outfit is is that once you sign up for a subscription, scheduling the massages can be very problematic, especially if you bought the package for 80 minute massages. There are only a few time slots available for them each week and they fill up rapidly. And although you may have a dozen massages banked, you can only use them to schedule an 80 minute massage - so if there is only a time slot available for a shorter one, you are out of luck unless you pay for the time. You read that correctly - you can not cash in one of your 80 minute massages for a shorter one because "the computer" won't allow it and there is nothing they can do about it. It's just the way it is. We only found this out, by the way, when we booked massages, they scheduled us into 55 minute slots, and then told us AFTER THE MASSAGES that we had to pay since they were only 55 minute massages and our contract was for 80 minute ones. You can cash in your prepaid massages for gift cards, but there is a significant premium attached to this so your actual gift card amount is a fraction of what you actually paid.. My advice is to pay as you go or go somewhere else. read more

I got a massage Elements in Newburyport with Heather Huskinson. I requested a level for massage and stated to her that "she could not hurt me". She took it upon herself to prove me wrong. The next day I was covered in bruises arms chest ribs and back. I had to have x-rays the next day to see if my ribs were fractured. I cannot move my arm for 3 days, and I need to use my hands to work as a physician. I had to have 4 more treatments to fix what she did to me. I notified the owner Matt Perry that I was" assaulted". He did not take corrective action, more victim blaming. She still works there! I filed a complaint with the state licensing board and filed a police report. To add insult to injury, she added a $25 tip to my credit card without permission. read more

I've had several massages from Tracey. She's rated level 4 and can really dig and release muscles so let her know when it's too much. Great for anyone who works out and needs to get un-tight. I've asked her to focus on certain areas of my back that I've had issues with in the past and walked out feeling so good. I've only been here two of times but they've both been good experiences. The staff are really kind and friendly. They really took the time to find out what I needed and if anything on my body needed extra attention. The massages they gave were so relaxing. They let you be in control of everything from the music in the room to the amount of pressure they put on your body. Just tell them to increase the pressure or ease up and they will. They follow up with you after and make sure you enjoyed the experience. Yes it's expensive but it's totally worth it. I would definitely recommend this place if you want a relaxing massage. read more

They have great therapists,but you can never get an appointment. They moved to a larger location, but it is now worse. On two different occasions my therapist has injured himself right before my appointment (2 hour appointments), but the company did nothing to accommodate me. Considering I have to make my appointments at least 2 - 3 months in advance, I will now probably have to wait another 2-3 months for an appointment. I understand accidents happen, but I can't wait months for an appointment. The management really needs to look at their scheduling system and it's ridiculous you can't make appointments online. I'm often on the phone with the office for approximately 10-15 minutes trying to find an appointment. I eventually end the call because it's frustrating to be continually told there is nothing available. I've been with this location for quite a few years,but it might be time to move on. It's too bad because I used to really like them and have made many referrals. read more

I would NOT recommend this venue to anyone. I received the worst massage here that I am still baffled about it. It was a difficult decision for me to gift myself a massage this close to the holidays, but it was my birthday and I splurged on myself. After my massage I regretted this decision. I contacted the management 2 times to inform them of my bad experience and have never heard back from them which to me is poor business practice. Charissa was excellent!!! She listened to me and focused on the areas that I needed work done on. She really gave it her ALL!!! I have had many treatments at various locations, and Charissa is definitely in the top few that have been able to loosen up my tight muscles. The massage therapists here are nice, attentive, and do a really good job of giving a relaxing massage. My favorite is Jess and she is really attentive to the areas that need more work and will focus on those to work out knots. I definitely recommend her and Elements Newburyport read more
