Awful! Beware. Read the reviews. They love to cross-sell. The staff is rude and not friendly.

Dr. Chawla usually spends a decent amount of time with me via our phone appointments. However, her affect is somewhat deflated. She doesn't seem very interested in what I report and I feel like she usually makes small tweaks to my medication that haven't really helped. I once sent a somewhat important email to her office staff and asked they pass it along. I never received a response via email. Also, it seems a bit annoying that I have to re-sign consent forms every year, but perhaps there's a law on that I'm not familiar with. I believe since COVID, she only does zoom or phone appointments, rather than in person. I recently saw another psychiatrist that ordered gene sight testing to determine if my medication dosages are appropriate. I had no idea that was an option. Thus, it seems other practices are more advanced in their knowledge of how to treat mental health symptoms. TL, DR: If you're OK with the status quo of your mental health, Dr. Chawla might be able to help. If you're looking for improvement, I'd seek other options.

Additionally, the office staff is incredibly unprofessional, disorganized, and defensive. On multiple occasions I requested that Dr. Chawla call my teenager for appointments, instead of my phone number. And randomly, every few months, she would call my number. This resulted in missed appointments, which i would be charged $100 for. When I challenged the fee, Dr. Chawla and the office staff (most notably Arianna) never took responsibility for their error, let alone correct the error moving forward. The majority of her recent reviews are all rock-bottom 1-stars, and I'm not surprised.

I literally had two visits with this man, and when I say he doesn't let you say a WORD... I mean it. I only wanted to let him know I was having difficulty sleeping. He put his hand up, as if to say shut up. I sat there stunned, as he robotically CONTINUED to ask me if I was suicidal. WHAT? NO! I asked him when I got to talk. He ignored me. Continuing to ask, the repetitive, on a scale of one to ten, how is your anxiety today.... I stood up, walked out and said "You clearly do not want to know BECAUSE YOU DON'T LISTEN!!!" He literally chased me down the hall yelling, like a child. You won't get anything prescribed from me, if you walk out!!! I turned around and said, that's QUITE ALL RIGHT. I have never seen such unprofessional behavior. This man clearly needs his own psychiatrist. Ugh...

The psychiatrist, Dr. Pecen, is super cool. She is blunt, honest, and doesn't over medicate. She will not prescribe anything with addictive properties unless absolutely necessary and refuses to prescribe sleeping pills. She suggests a homeopathic route first and increases the dosage incredibly slow. The other provider I saw, Christopher Rohne, was far less understanding of my needs. I came in with a long history of Major Depressive Disorder. I expressed this to him also informing him that this episode was predicated by a medical issue that caused an inability to drive and an incredibly sudden loss of independence for an unknown length of time. The very next week, his office staff called me asking me the morning of to move my appointment up to 3 because he wanted to get off early. I expressed my frustration to him; he said "I don't understand why this would upset you." I told him "I don't understand why you don't use electronic records or mark which clients are not flexible in their scheduling or mark those who are emotionally triggered by a lack of independence." I didn't go back. I don't recommend him as he is insensitive to a person's needs. I am unsure as to how he is listed as specialized in self-abuse. He seemed ignorant of the concept of emotional triggers.

Deeply Concerning Experience with Dr. Susan Ahmari at Linden Oaks…read more Our experience with this psychiatrist was extremely disappointing and caused significant emotional harm to our child and family. Our adolescent child met clinical criteria for discharge and was ready to step down to a less restrictive level of care. Despite this, the psychiatrist extended the inpatient stay by an additional two days, resulting in a six-day hospitalization that did not appear to be clinically necessary or individualized. Decisions seemed to be based on an average length of stay for adolescents rather than our child's specific needs and progress. This psychiatrist does not typically work with adolescent patients and was serving as the on-call physician, yet chose to continue overseeing care during a particularly busy period. This lack of specialization was evident in her approach. Communication was minimal, condescending, and dismissive. Feedback from the treatment team and our family was not considered, and there was no sense of collaboration or shared decision-making. As parents, we felt completely unheard and powerless. The extended stay caused unnecessary stress, anxiety, and uncertainty for our child at a very vulnerable time. The lack of empathy and poor bedside manner left a lasting negative impact. This experience significantly eroded our trust and left us feeling hopeless rather than supported. We would not recommend this provider for adolescent inpatient care. We are currently consulting legal counsel about our experience and hope this review helps other families avoid the same distress. What happened to us reflects, in our view, serious problems with the involuntary treatment system and how some providers operate within it. Please proceed with caution, ask questions, and make sure your voice is heard. Families deserve compassion, honesty, and respect -- values we did not experience under Dr. Ahmari's care.
